Twelfth Star

[sometime after the River situation is solved, have an Arwen in the kitchen, baking up dozens of loaves of Lembas bread, in preparation for the journey. She knows not how long they will be gone, and, well, this is the best long-term provision there ever was.]

[[ooc: open post, if you'd like to help or ask what she's making!]]

[and have a legendary detective, investigatin']

And a good morning to you, my lady.

Hm. Baking bread, are we?

Lembas bread? I'm afraid that's something I'm not familiar with.

[he silently takes in this fact, along with her unusual ears, to arrive at an appropriate conclusion, though he doesn't vocalize it]

A food unique to your people, then.

[Warning! Incompetent cook approaching! Raine is looking very busy, muttering to herself and constantly glancing down at her checklist. She inhales happily when she gets to the kitchen.]

My, what a delicious smell!

Hmm, a type of traveling bread. I see. What sorts of special ingredients go into it, if I may ask?

[identity profile] ruin-mania.livejournal.com 2009-05-01 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. Whole grains and berries would have a higher stored energy content, and the honey would help it keep over a long time.

[In her mind begin whirling around possible ideas for improvement, like putting in chili peppers to make it last even longer, or substituting berries for coffee beans to keep someone awake on the long march!]

[Raine looks distracted for a bit - the elves in Heimdall claimed the same thing, of course, and their crafts were certainly very high quality, but then, they would never have freely shared anything even as simple as food to such a motley group of humans, half-elves, and whatever else the residents of Paradisa counted themselves as.]

I can see that it would be difficult not to, actually, with decades and even centuries of practice.

It's...nothing that has any relevance here.

[firmly] Thank you for sharing your art with us, Lady Arwen.

[She smiles.] No doubt were my friend Regal here, he would try to get the recipe out of you. He takes food and cooking very seriously.

Hmm. Well, with any luck, he will show up here one day and we shall see how successful he is.
