Uh - can I help you, Miss?
no subject
I'm not entirely sure.
[glances down a bit to make sure Kitten isn't moving forward or anything]
no subject
Well, I can certainly try, at least.
FILTER 4EVAR BTW
Why do you hunt?
no subject
Excuse me?
no subject
Why are you hunting the animals in the forest?
no subject
Can we talk about this in a less public area?
no subject
Like where?
no subject
The first empty room we come across, I'm not picky.

Lead the way.

Who exactly told you I was hunting animals in the forest, Miss. . .?
no subject
They did. Not just you, but those who live with you. They said you smelled different, that you moved differently, too.

Veralidaine Sarrasri. Just Daine.

[a long pause as he digests this. people talking to animals is new to him.]
We wouldn't hunt if we didn't have to. My family needs blood to survive and this is a better option than human. Drinking anything related to human blood would just increase our urges to attack those that live in the castle, or we could us the possibility of a substitute - though without the hunt, we still tend to get aggressive, and with the losses that some of us have undergone, that's not something we can risk.
[a careful pause]
I'm sorry if the animals are. . . your friends, or something akin to it. But it seems like the lesser of two evils.

I understand. Needing to hunt for survival is something I did as well. I just couldn't do it after--
[a pause as she decides whether or not to tell him; he seems trust worthy enough]
--after I learned to become an animal I was able to feel their emotions and fear of being hunted. It's the peak of terror, not knowing if you'll make it out alive. I try to make sure they don't feel that, but there's only so much I can do.
I don't want to ask you to stop; I can't, in all honesty. It wouldn't be fair of me. I simply want to make sure there are as little casualties as possible, if that makes sense.

We have never hunted more than we need to, I promise. And we make it as quick and as pain free as possible. If that helps any.
no subject
It does. A little.

Good. [beat] I'm. . . sorry if we've caused any trouble for you. Really.
