[spoken]
Can anyone see this~?
[he goes off to shuffle around his closet for about twenty minutes, and makes a pleased sound after seeing that there are no replies when he gets back]
Good, good. Quite the tool, these little books.
They must not have expected I'd be coming~ Surprise! Quite a treat!
[he starts to write down all the pages where Sebastian has made entries, then makes another little sound of delight]
Such graceful handwriting! Oh, my little Sebast, what a perfect gentleman you must make~!
[and then he writes down the pages where Sebastian has ever talked to anyone... and then he starts writing down all of Ciel's entries and likewise the pages where he's interacted with others... and then he writes down all of Lizzie's pages... and then all of Lau's pages, for accountability's sake...]
But I've seen what's beyond that, Sebast-chan. I understand you better than any of the others ever will~ The brighter the plant, the more poisonious... And I've seen how bright your eyes shine under the moon, my little Sebast. ♥
[a rather... malicious giggle]
I don't appreciate being lied to.
Time to meet the locals!
And after that... Hm, test subjects~! I wouldn't want this 'loss' to sneak up on me.
[a distracted pause as he spins around happily]
It's been so long since I've been able to dress like this... No William, no horrid constraints or rules, and little Sebast is here as well~ I think I'm going to enjoy my time here! ♥
[a contented sigh]
Sebastian, oh, Sebast-chan, wherefore art thou, Sebast-chan?
Compare me to a rose, my sweet, with poison thorns and petals of the deepest red. ♥

[Filtered away from Sebastian, Ciel, and Lau~]
[written in incredibly girly writing... with like, hearts over every 'i' and everything...]
My name is Grell, and I'm sure it will be a pleasure to meet you all. I've found myself here without specific orders or even a note, and although it's a slightly irksome detail, I've decided to continue on with the job I've been granted regardless. So without further ado, I will be your resident Death God (also called a "Shinigami") for the time we are together. Please let me know if you have any worries about the state of either your own souls or the souls of others. It's my job to keep these things in order, you know! ♥
If there are any other Death Gods currently dispatched in this area, or if there are others like myself who just happen to find themselves in this situation, please let me know~! I wouldn't want to encroach on anyone else's territory, after all.
I also understand that death works rather oddly here. I have a few questions~!
1. Do people always return in two weeks on the dot, or have their been cases of it being longer, shorter, or perhaps someone not returning at all?
2. Where exactly do their souls go after a person dies here? Clearly not far, since they return soon after, but it's a legitimate question anyway.
3. Are there any usual (or unusual) changes that occur to a resident here after they have died and come back to life? Any kind of change, physical, social, mental...?
And that is it for now! Thank you for your cooperation, and I hope we get along famously in the future.
[at the end he draws an adorable little skull and crossbones]
[[OOC: I assume this is long after he and Sebastian had their fight... Grell probably ran off when the sun came up or something if it's A-OK. Also, he will be flattered if you confuse him for a girl. ♥ Also, IT'S A TRAP. 8Db]]

[long pause] There's at least one other Shinigami I know of, Sho Minamimoto.
3. Sometimes people's losses change after they die.
no subject
Ah, thank you. I will contact them immediately.
Do you happen to have any examples of this off the top of your head?
no subject
It could be.
...Good luck understanding him.
No, but there are a few in the journal.

Is he a puzzle of sorts?
I will research further, then. Thank you for your time! ♥

He speaks in math.

Why do you want to know?

A Death God's first and foremost duty is to collect the souls of those whose times have come and display their memories for them to be judged and sent to whatever form of afterlife they deserve. They have several other smaller duties pertaining to death, souls, or lack thereof as well, and since the afterlife in question isn't so much of a problem here, at least within the castle... I'd like to figure out the system as quickly as possible to assure that all souls are headed to the proper places. ♥

So you're DEATH, then, but in a group instead of one single being? Oh, I bet he'd love to hear that one. Probably use it as an excuse for a holiday.
[Pause. Someone's keep an eye on his dead!buddy, don't mind Mr. Defensive here] The ghosts are perfectly happy, they don't need to go anywhere until their own time is right.

That's a very simplified definition of how things operate, but I suppose that would work. Things are much different where you're from~?
Ah, but what if a wrench is thrown in the system? Since the world is not in any apparent hellish chaos at the moment I assume things are working well through whatever system this place has established. It'd just like to understand the system so that I can assure it runs smoothly.
There's no need to worry. ♥ I won't harm a hair on their little ghostly heads, nor will I move a single phantasmal thread out of place~

I wouldn't let him hear you call him simplified. He'd be insulted, and you don't go about insulting the Horsepersons without ramifications.
Hmmmm you'd better not. Why fix something that isn't broken and all that.
no subject
I will have to keep that in mind should he ever appear here~
Quite, quite. ♥

Our typical routine involves collecting the souls of those whose times have come and displaying their memories so that they may be judged and sent to whatever afterlife they deserve, but we're capable of a wide range of tasks that deal in death or lack thereof~

Well...
1. Sometimes people haven't come back.
2. No clue.
3. Sometimes they remember things they didn't before, or their losses change.

[a little bit of fabulous humming]
Interesting. Can you think of any immediate examples of the third one~?

Are you doing anything in regards to the above [an arrow to his entry] or is the field free to graze, as it were?
Grell;
I'm the Game Master here. Paradisa's my area. And I don't play well with others.
Sho Minamimoto;
I was willing to share, but it seems there's nothing but conflict in our story from today on. Such a pity~
Grell;
Get in my way and your side will be erased.
