[Think of all Kratos' rage over the blaise-ness about Anna, magnify it by a thousand, add a bit of teeth and sixteen years of grief, and you MIGHT be able to imagine Kratos' voice right now.]
VERGIL.
[So much for that truce.]
[ooc: SORRY FOR THE SPAM. Yuan told.]

VERGIL.

[Kratos]
Rooftop.
[Vergil]
Do you want to die?
[Kratos]
Don't waste my time with foolish questions. You wouldn't be talking to me if you were truly bent on killing me.
What do you know so far?
[Vergil]
He's also ignoring your question.]
The Eternal Sword has nothing to do with you, and neither does Lloyd. Why did you test him?
[Kratos]
Because they do, in fact, have much to do with me. And while I am not about to delve into my reasons for saying so, I can say that those reasons are nowhere near as dark as they used to be.
He was safe. Not a drop of blood was shed, and any blow landed was harmless.
[Vergil]
Consider that your only saving grace. If you so much as scratch my son outside of a spar, I will end you.
I don't care for your reasons, your tests, anything, nor do I particularly care for your life. You know this from the first time we met. So why do you insist on repeating your mistakes?
[Kratos]
You can try, Kratos. But even without my fighting back, you will fail.
There are things I wish to learn, things I must know. And whether you like it or not, whether you approve or not, Lloyd embodies a number of those things.
But, then again, I'm sure you yourself would agree.
[Vergil]
[That does make him pause for a moment. And then the hesitation is gone.]
All the more reason why I should protect him from curious destroyers such as yourself.
[Kratos]
[Walking, hands clasped behind his back]
What will you accomplish, Kratos? Do you think this foolishness, this pathetic display of wrath, will accomplish anything significant? Before you even knew, I had notified both Yuan and Colette, and have spoken with Lloyd in regards to rectifying it.
You were next, until you found out yourself.
Now why would I waste my breath and time doing that if all I wanted to do was destroy him? Kratos, there is no gain to be had, no value to be found, in his death. Quite the opposite, really.
And you overestimate yourself if you think you need to protect him from anyone.
[Vergil]
Lloyd is not your research subject, and for that matter, neither am I. There are other ways to understand people than by pushing them to the brink, Vergil. That reasoning is infantile and it will get you killed-- if not by my hands, than by someone else's.
[Kratos]
Do you always choose to miss the point, or overshoot it? Or am I simply a special case in your books.
Way I intend to pursue, you fool. But this was something that could have only been achieved through the direct method. And now, I have something to begin working from. In ways that do not concern you.
[Vergil]
If these ways concern Lloyd, they most definitely concern me.
[Vergil]
Lloyd is important. That much I've made clear. If anything, you know what consideration I hold for people I consider important.
But I am done playing this fruitless game with you. Either draw you blade or get out of my sight.
[Aaaaand...a hand goes to the side of his head, and for a moment he's not there. Then he's back...And even less amused]
Go on.
[Vergil]
[...
What the fuck just happened?]
... I'm finished here. [He's beginning to walk away now, though he's somewhat baffled by Vergil's sudden change in behavior.]
[Kratos]
[And...unfortunately, he's forgetting now that Kratos can hear from a distance, as he turns around and grips his head forcedly]
Shut up. Shut up.
[Vergil]
[Kratos]
Shut up. I won't. Shut...up...
[Vergil]
... Vergil.
[Kratos]
...Go on then.
[Vergil]
Who else is speaking to you?
[Kratos]
I...don't know.
[Vergil]
So he just speaks again, trying to get through.]
Who is it?
[Kratos]
I can't tell you.
[Vergil]
[Kratos...or the wind. Yah. Filtered to the fucking wind]
Damn you. Damn you.
[And then he makes his exit by...falling backwards off the roof. Yay for dramatic exits]
