I think I have a way around this silly little loss of mine. Of course, that all depends on how confident these townsfolk are about their security measures... which, of course, won't be a problem for someone like me. Let's hope this does work, though, or it'll be no fun at all.

One gets curious about what this place has to offer. I'd imagine interesting people would bring interesting things with them... provided that they didn't lose them coming here.

The object you plan to steal? Well, if it was potentially dangerous, and the person planned to use it to hurt others, sure that'd be grounds for relieving them of it.

Exactly why it should be a good idea to keep tabs on other people's things. You never know what may happen, and with the nature of losses here, the risk of that kind of power being abused is just that much greater.
