[Private]
I've been so busy with training that I haven't written anything in a while... but Gaara-sama taught me two new techniques, and I'll be a lot more prepared for the Danger Room next time.
After what almost happened to Renji-san, I definitely want to make sure no one gets hurt if they go with me again...
Oh, I should ask him how he's doing.
[/Private]
[Renji]
Is everything all right, Renji-san? I hope the monsters we fought haven't made you scared of caterpillars and flies now, heehee.
[/Renji]
So, um... How has everyone been doing? It's pretty quiet these days. That should be a good thing, right?
Orihime-san said something about throwing a party, I think... Well, that definitely sounds like fun, heehee. I'm sure a lot of you want to go.
[Matsuri]
I'm glad it didn't step on you; that woulda sucked. You'd'a been all squished, and I never woulda lived it down. I wonder if there are other kindsa dinosaurs in that place? I never expected to find any here, I always thought they were extinct...but...well, Paradisa's a weird place.
You should come! We'll all chill by the pool and...I dunno. Drink beer. Or somethin'.
[Renji]
Oh, so they don't exist in your world either, huh? Where I come from, they are supposed to be extinct... Maybe the magic in Paradisa brought them back or something?
Beer? I've never drank that before. Do you like it?
[Matsuri]
I'm still a little unnerved by the mechanics of the Danger Room, personally--it was almost like the monsters weren't really real. I couldn't sense any sorta spiritual energy offa them at all. Weird, huh?
You've never had beer? --Oh yeah, I forget you're a young thing...ah, it's an alcoholic drink. Doesn't taste particularly good, but after a few you stop noticing. I don't like the taste really, but it makes it easier to loosen up a bit.
[Renji]
Well, I thought they were just illusions, like a powerful genjutsu technique or something, but everything felt real...
Oh, like sake? I know some people who like to drink that. Um, I'm kind of curious about how it tastes... but I don't know where to get it.
[Ino]
Yeah, everything felt pretty real...but it didn't...feel real, you know? I couldn't sense any spirit energy from anything in there...and that dinosaur shoulda been overflowing with power of some sort. Even if it wasn't spirit power, I should have felt something from it. But I didn't get a thing. Not one damn shred of energy. It was like everything was there and we could see it and touch it but somehow it still wasn't real.
I dunno. It was creepy. Then again, I think this place is fuckin' with my head anyhow. The spirit-power comin' off somea the folks around here is...off the charts. Like it can't be real--these people are like...seated-officer shinigami strength; no normal humans should be that strong...
Guess there ain't a lotta normal folks around here though.
Anyway...yeah, beer is like sake, only it tastes like piss. So maybe sake is a better choice. Uhm...I'm not sure I'd ask the castle for sake; it might give you somethin' crappy. But maybe we can get some in town. I don't do a whole lotta drinkin'--I like to be in control of myself and my surroundings as much as possible--but a social drink here and there is always fun. Whaddya think?
[Renji] btw you're talking to Matsuri, not Ino <3
Mmm, I'll make that one of my goals, then! You don't think I'd do anything bad to your hair, right? Like, tie a pretty pink ribbon into it or something, heehee...
The only spiritual energy I can sense are chakra signatures, but only shinobi from my world have chakra. Otherwise, we just need to use our senses to keep alert for the presence of enemies. But you can sense the spiritual energy of anything, even monsters?
[disgusted noise of disapproval at the "tastes like piss" remark]
It... does? Um, I didn't know that...
All right, Renji-san. I'll definitely take your word for it, since you're more experienced with this kind of thing. Um, are there any sweet kind of drinks, though? I might like those better...
[Matsuri] dammit i hate the way LJ saves shit in the subject field and fills it in FOR me >:[
Mm...the body of a shinigami is made with a high concentration of soul energy, so we're hypersensitive to it; we can sense the spirit energy of other creatures because of that. If there are other shinigami nearby, or Hollows, or even humans with strong souls, we can usually tell. Animal souls feel different than human souls, and so even if the soul isn't strong, we can usually feel the differences between people and animals, and gauge how powerful something is according to that. It's...kinda hard to explain.
And well, I've never tasted piss, personally, but I assume beer is a similar flavor. It's pretty nasty. Sake's good, but it's an acquired taste--you might like one'a the sweet froufy drinks Rangiku always tried to get Hinamori to drink though. I wonder if Inoue will have margarita mix at the party...?
[Renji] it's okay, you're just lucky ilu, lol :D
Renji-san! You wouldn't really do that... right? I mean, I guess you could try, but I won't go down that easily, heehee!
No, that makes sense. It's just that, we can't do the same because we're only able to sense chakra signatures. If someone doesn't have any chakra in their body, then their presence is kind of hard to detect.
Um, Hollows...?
Well, if that's true, then I don't want to try beer. It doesn't sound good at all. But a margarita is a sweet drink?
[Matsuri]
Ah...Hollows are fallen souls. [*feels like he's been telling this story a lot lately*] When someone dies, if their soul isn't sent to Soul Society and the soul stays in the human world too long, it can become tainted with anger and sadness, and so it becomes a Hollow--a creature that preys on soul energy and is known to attack the people the soul loved in life. It's...actually really kinda sad.
Yeah, margaritas are sweet. Kinda...citrusy; I don't like 'em all that much, but they seem pretty popular with girls.
[Renji]
Really? Wow... that sounds like one of those Heartless monsters.
Oh, Renji-san, I asked Greed-san, and he said there won't be any drinks at the party... but I really want to try this margarita drink.
[Matsuri]
Mm, yeah it's kinda like the Heartless. Kairi actually said the same thing, and they sound real similar from what she described. I guess fallen souls are pretty comparable no matter where you're from.
Aw, no booze at the party? That's kinda lame; maybe Rikku and I'll have to see to that, heheheh. Uhm...I'm sure we can find a place in town to get a margarita for you to try. There's gotta be bars. I wonder if this place has a drinking age; I know they apparently had one in the human world...
[Renji]
Where I come from, when people die, that's it... their souls don't get taken away or turn into something else. I can't believe those Heartless things can actually steal your hearts, though...
Greed-san said something about easy access... I'm not really sure what he means by that.
Well, can find out together, Renji-san. Um, maybe we can go into the city sometime?
[Matsuri]
...[*skirts right past the Greed comment*]
Sure, I'm down with hittin' the strip sometime. I ain't really explored much'a the town yet; Id been occupying myself with rearranging the furniture in the castle with Ino.
[Renji]
Oh, I've been in the city a few times already, so I can show you around. When do you want to go, Renji-san?
