[Pages rustling, and the sound of a cat meowing.]
Who in this castle does NOT believe in magic? Who here believes that what we are going through is something that can be explained by normal means? What of the demons, vampires, and other non-human entities here? If you don't believe in the supernatural, how would you explain their existence here?

The theater, I remember going to one once before. Do you enjoy it?

Oh yes, very much! I'm a playwright and an actor, and nothing satisfies my otherwise-lonely soul more than seeing the faces of the audience light up as I fly about on stage. There's also something incredible about being able to step into the shoes of a character and take the audience with you, and make them cry or laugh as if they're living the story too.

Well, as long as you don't dress like Caliban

Hm?~

Filtered to this lovely onee-san here~ ♥
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
...
Fear not, I am no beast man. ♥ If anything, my silhouette conjures up a creature of the night, such as a bat or owl, though my lit presence features the grace and dignity of a lion.
Re: Filtered to this lovely onee-san here~ ♥
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices
That, if I then had waked after long sleep,
Will make me sleep again: and then, in dreaming,
The clouds methought would open and show riches
Ready to drop upon me; that, when I waked,
I cried to dream again.
...
Well, that certainly sounds interesting. Perhaps I'll see you perform sometime?

Perhaps~ my play has been put on hold, but I do plan to open it by summer.
Re: Filtered to this lovely onee-san here~ ♥
I look forward to it.

If people been in this castle long enough and don't believe in magic - they're kinda friggin' insane or stupid.

I suppose if some people don't believe in it they're probably stubborn.

Because what we might perceive as magic is really only a higher form of science that the human mind has yet to penetrate the secrets of.
no subject
So you really believe that science can explain how a castle in a realm different from ours, has been able to pull a miriad of beings; all different species, and all from different times, into this place?
Well, now I'm curious!

I really cannot say, offhand, as no man of science has yet described one.

...That sounded rather arrogant, didn't it.

The changes in scenery could be accounted for by very advanced holograms, or a controlled shift in dimensions. Mind, the latter would take unfathomable power.
The power of illusion oughtn't be discounted; there are beings who revel in it, who can twist minds like so much twine, shift perceptions...but I've never seen something of this scale.
'Magic' can often be explained by the power of will, amplified by one's surroundings.
[lots of rambling technobabble follows]
...But none of it holds up in the end, not really. Something this elaborate ought to have collapsed by now, some of the magic I've seen defies scientific explanation, and nothing brings back the dead. No calculations I make allow for this sort of nexus, for what goes on within it. Nothing I've seen compares.

You mentioned the power of illusion. What is the, I hope this makes sense, the largest form of illusion you've seen. Not including this place.

Castrovalva, probably. It was a construct of mathematics, concepts, ideas - the people within it thought it was real, of course, until convinced otherwise.
It collapsed in on itself when there was no one to maintain it.

[quietly, almost hushed]
Sounds similar to the town.

The people in Castrovalva...when they realised they were made for something malicious, were being used as puppets, they rebelled against their creator, even though they knew they would perish.

Then they did a noble thing.

He didn't count on that, I suppose. He rarely does.
