18, dictated;
I'm in the library. It's quiet in here, and I like it. The chairs are so soft.
I wandered in here because as much as I like being outside, I get bored and hungry. Sometimes even I need a little downtime. Those fights I had were fun and all, but I just need some time for myself.
[Pause, then the sound of flipping through pages of a book, then in a sarcastic tone;] These are real interesting. Are they even worth your time? Why would people stay in here and read rather than go outside and do actual stuff?
Sometimes I wonder if I'd be any different if I could see. Obviously, I would be, but I mean... Books. Fireworks. Faces. This castle. They're just words to me. I don't know what they look like, but do I want to know? Are they that special?
[A long pause as she takes in what she just said, then a scoff] Wow. What brought that on? Eh, whatever. I'll just keep stacking these books up 'til they reach the ceiling.

I think I'd die if I ever saw fireworks.
Nah, I was just being dumb. I don't really care.

Are you that bored?
[Zuko]
Um, yes. Suddenly, your insane sister was your best friend ever.
I'm that bored.

And well, It'd say the point of fireworks would be the colors, but that's a little hard to describe.

Well, sure, if I suddenly was able to see, and learned to read, I'm sure it'd be a huge deal to me. But seeing as how that'll never happen, I don't really look into it that much.
Yeah, colours. Well, maybe someone could describe them to a blind person. That'll be the day.

People read books for many different reasons: for entertainment, or for knowledge... Theatre provides an entertaining and yet enlightening glimpse into character, as well as a chance to be something greater than oneself-- and that is why I read.

Entertainment? In a book? Hah. That's a new one. And I've got enough knowledge to know that books are overrated, heavy, and smell funny, and make you sneeze.
But sure. One day, if this castle does something messed up and takes away my blindness, maybe I'll give reading a shot. Is it hard?

I guess a lot of people would read books for the same reason someone would listen to a story being told or something being explained. It's just through a different medium.
{ a pause }
I don't think you're missing much. Fireworks are just a bunch of colors, the castle is just a bunch of stones, and I've always thought voices were more interesting than faces anyway.

That's an interesting way to put it. But who could stand all this silence? I get a little antsy when things are too quiet.
So I've been told. About the fireworks, I mean. I guess I don't care too much, then.

So basically, books are just stories on bad-smelling paper, right?

[thoughtfully] Is there any form of braille in your world?

...Braille? Probably not.

Spending time outside is nice.

And that guy up there is going to explain what braille is to me, but you're welcome to, too.
Outside's the best place to be!
