How did he redirect my lightning? I wasn't even aware that was possible, but I know it wasn't a fluke. That was aimed to kill, how could he possibly turn it back against me?

At first I thought he had attacked, but he didn't create any more, he just channeled it. Is that even possible?

There is only one person who could have created such a technique, and taught it to him: Uncle. It puzzled me back in the spring when he absorbed my attack and redirected it, on my ship, when we first started this foolish game.

Uncle taught Zuko to redirect attacks he did not create. Such a thing is almost unheard of.

And the issue with the Avatar... that is a matter I won't leave lying about in writing. It's too sensitive a subject to trust to a book.

I'm pleased with how things are turning out. If anyone isn't, they are welcome to direct their complaints elsewhere, because I don't particularly care.

Today has been entertaining, educational, and compelling. I couldn't ask for more out of a day.

What made today educational?

I discovered that my brother could redirect lightning. It doesn't concern me, but it certainly is worth knowing.

How was your day?

The next few days might be less boring depending on what the castle does.

I do. Manipulating lightning is a highly advanced form of firebending -- it requires complete peace of mind and extreme skill. Extremely few ever learn to use it.

With Christmas coming up, you mean, or something else?

Yes. Christmas. This castle has never does anything nice when it changes. At least not in the time that I've been here.

Combat, mostly. Firebending isn't quite as versatile as the other forms of bending, but it does serve its purpose well.

I can't say anything it has done in my presence has been particularly malicious, other than that time where it was rerouting people to other, less desireable areas of the castle. Or, perhaps, I'm just lucky like that.

What do you plan to do with your powers here?

If you are here long enough, you will see how malicious the castle can be.

Combat, enforcing my will over stubborn inferiors, punishing my brother, and, it seems, melting my way through this horrible snow.

As long as my quarry is here, I've got little reason to leave. I'll be the judge of its maliciousness myself.

No one ever leaves this place by choice. It just gets rid of people at random.

I can hold my own in a fight, there are only a few people here that I would have removed entirely, and my brother requires rather delicate handling. The snow, on the other hand, could go.

And they'd go home, I'd hope? I can't imagine being forced to go to yet another alternate universe, though I suppose that there'd be no way to know for sure until you went yourself.

Because contrary to popular belief, I do care.

What about yesterday? It sounded pretty bad.

Siblings get into arguments. I'm sure you've seen it before.

Katara and Sokka don't do it like that.

I doubt they've had the upbringing we have. Both of us have short tempers and little patience.
