(Backdated to 25th December)

I hope everyone enjoys their Christmas day this year. I do wonder though, how many people actually celebrate it here.

[Presents have arrived at people's doors.

For Peter please find a mat and a book on further meditative techniques to help with control, as well as an Ernest Hemmingway book to remind him of being back in the US.

For Aziraphale please find wrapped a set of ornate, acid free bookmarks.

For Ed please find a large wooden Carrom board with wooden discs included.

For Hesam find a note that says 'I know you don't celebrate it but I thought the gesture may be nice in the circumstances as I did not get you anything for Eid.' under which is a plate of steaming biryani, kebaps, lamb chops and samosas.]

[so after recovering from the holidays, which he actually found rather enjoyable, he's down in the kitchen sipping from his "World's Best Boss" travel mug (thank you, Harmony) and flipping through the journal.]

I know it's probably the least of people's concerns around here, but is anyone considering New Year's Resolutions? Just out of curiosity. I promise I won't try and analyze you over them.

[that last part is teasing. A shrink is allowed a little humor at his own expense.]

[ is that that familiar purple mist coming up from your journals? why, yes. yes it is ]

This month has been charming, if nothing else.

[ it's also been boring like nobody's business to her. so Eris will be traveling through the shadows of the castle again, trying to see if there are any interesting people around.

you know the drill. you don't come to her, she goes to you. she'll be all over the castle, being the creeper goddess she is. ]

[Hank hated the holidays. Between Christmas and New Years, there were more memories and feelings swirling around in his head than he'd like to have. It always made start thinking about his old life, which inevitably makes him angry.

Normally he'd take out his frustrations out on the nearest living thing, but instead he's found himself in town - striding down the streets in a hurry with no real destination, bumping into people and shoving them roughly out of his way. Eventually Hank stops and flips open his journal.]

Even when there's no relatives around to drive you up the walls, this time of year is still more stressful than necessary.

I have my own ways of dealing with said stress, but tell me Paradisa, how do you handle it? I could use some suggestions.

[Because a full blown massacre in the middle of town would probably get a few weird looks.]

[She stands in the hallway, fingers running her fingers across the nameplate on the door. Dressed in shorts and a dark green tank top, she looks more at home in the wilds of Indonesia than the castle. But the mused hair, slippers, and purple silk robe indicate that she, perhaps, recently awoke.]

This is not good.

[Her nose wrinkles at the plaque and, on second thought, she chooses to ignore it. It is more important to find out who is responsible for removing her from her tent sometime during the night.]

Booth and Hodgins have both claimed that practical jokes are supposed to be entertaining. If this is a joke, I do not find it very funny.

[She glances down to the journal she had found by the bedside table in the room, partially opened by a thumb acting as a bookmark. Brennan shakes her head and then continues down the hall.]

So... how many people here are the only people form their world? Like, no one else that you know from home is here?

I know it's a random question, but I'm really curious! [or if you want to bump into her in the lobby, she's curled up on one of the random armchairs, snacking on trail mix]

I see now what I refused to turn my ears to.

I apologize to those I harmed upon my arrival.

And thus ends another brief stint of Goodwill Toward Men. Nauseous Christmas joy behind us, accidental alcohol binges ahead of us. Good times.

Incidentally, if we find out next year that the talking cats are behind everything, I want it to be known I called it first.

[Anyone going into the kitchen today will find every flat surface, including the floor covered with little plastic cups of water. There's no lifting these suckers off, either, they're glued down. Should you manage to destroy one, another mysteriously appears in it's place.

Crowey's sitting on the one chair that isn't pranked, sipping a mug of coffee. He COULD make every single cup vanish with a snap of his fingers, thus allowing you to go about your buisness. Of course, he's far more likely to sit back and enjoy watching you fail

[ after flying around past the town and the forest, karen's hovering up onto the castle roof and taking a seat on the ledge, swinging her feet over. she lets her arms rest in her lap, staring out at the landscape. with the weird clockwork castle, dreams and then her best friend going home without her even getting a chance to speak to her again, she needs to sit up here and think about everything that's happened and what is going to happen back home. ]

I'm going to punch myself in the face. Pull yourself together, Kar.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
