I was born here, you know. Well, not here, but in Los Angeles; I spent seven years of my life there. We lived, like, only a few blocks from the Santa Monica Pier. My parents used to tell me that I learned how to walk there. I don't really remember most of it--I don't want to see it now because I know it isn't real--but I do remember spending all day in the summer building castles with my dad. Sometimes me and my mom would bury his feet if we caught him sleeping. It was fun. He wrote books but he always had time for us. He always had time to build castles with me in the sand.

Never mind. It was just making me think, is all.

[It was Saint ---'s weekly Mass, and Alessandro had found his role in this temporary life was not as simple as he hoped. The school had put him in a role of a volunteer at the schools Church, and an active participant as an Altar Boy. An entire school filled with students and teachers was just too much and before he knew it the room went black. Though he wasn't unconscious for long, perhaps fifteen or twenty minutes, the school insisted on contacting parental guardian and would not let him continue with the day until they had a word.

Quickly written in the journal

I don't like this.

[the Cabana Club opens for the evening amid a flurry of cars and valets and flash photography - those on the A-List are quickly swept right inside, and ... hey, if you're not on the list, tough luck, pal. and for that matter, if you didn't get on the list, how did you even know the place was hopping, tonight?

there's a sign out front proclaiming that DJ Mouse is on the tables tonight, and the screens are broadcasting the Oscars live - though you'll have to either lip-read or bother someone to try and turn on the closed-captioning, because there's no way in hell your slightly-inebriated and therefore friendly club owner is interrupting the music to let all the stuffed-shirted actors and actresses blab on and on with their acceptance speeches.

get your glow sticks, your drinks, your nose-candy, and your finest club gear, because it's time to see, be seen, and PARRRR-TAY!

As for T.S himself? he's at the door with a ridiculously complicated-looking drink, with a light-up ice cube in it, schmoozing and boozing and generally enjoying the vibe. IN A RIDICULOUS WIG. see icon.]

I don't see what half these people are complaining about. I could SO get used to this.

In a lot of ways, this place is just like home. I get thrown on stage to present at the Oscars, I run my business, and I get mobbed by the 'razzi. But then I find that all of my out-of-town trips have been mysteriously canceled, Rhodey's phone is turned off and won't return any of my calls... oh, and I own Disney. Wonder how that one came up.

Hope the rest of you are doing all right. If not, give me a call. Well, give Stark Industries a call. Ask for Pepper, she'll... hook you up with some In-N-Out or something. Not Burger King, it leaves a rather bad taste in my mouth after the movie theater fiasco.

For the criminal types? I've still got my suit. Thought I should warn you.... in case you're not watching all those news programs about it.

Oh yeah, and Lady Gaga? If the papers are saying that we're an item, that one is totally your fault. I think the guy sitting next to me was in the press.

This is log one in the adventures of Ace Investigator, Maya Fey. It's eleven-o-clock in the morning, the day is warm, but not too hot, and the star reporter is on the scene.

Dah dah DAH dum DAH!

I am here to inform you, Paradisa, of my target. The techno-millionaire, Tony Stark is under investigation. Word on the street is he's using a large portion of his enormous funds to keep his secret project alive. What project is this you ask? Well, I heard from someone who heard from a guy at work who herd from his buddy who heard from a hiker in the mountains that he's trying to genetically create bigfoot.

You heard me folks, Bigfoot. I'm not kidding, and this is pretty serious. You know all the rumors of giant bears appearing in the woods around LA? Yes my good readers, those are his failed experiments. With the safety of every citizen in LA in mind, I will uncover the truth.

[there is a pause]

Wait, where did he go? Oh, hmm.... Geez, when did he cross the street? The crossing signal is red, I'm gonna loose him at this rate...

Ha, and opening! You're not getting away, I'll- woah! [and as she takes of sprinting there is the squeal of tires and a thump as the journal, and Miss Maya go flying. Loss change engaged, see you in two days folks B) (and if anyone wants to imply being in the car that hit her, that's fine aslkdhga, you jerk ♥) she's.. not really going to respond either, so people are free to react to the reactions of each other XD]

It would just be a way for us to keep track of each other if another tornado blows through. Or if a giant monster attacks. [... Hey, weirder things have happened.]

[While many of Paradisa's residents had found themselves living in the lap of luxury, not everyone had been so fortunate. And they weren't the only ones struggling to get by. Just outside of skid row, LA Missions Homeless Shelter kept its doors open for those who had nowhere else to go.

If they were looking for food, a helping hand, or just a safe place to sleep for the night, this was the place. There was warm food, a community clinic (where rumor had it they usually didn't ask too many questions), and even beds and showers if you could get there early enough.

Of course, there were always more mouths to feed and the shelter was nonprofit, so it was always looking for people to volunteer, which is why, when the doors opened at 6 for the evening meal, Jilly and Colette were there - ready to lend a helping hand to city and castle residents alike.]

If Paradisa doesn't stop being awesome, I'm expecting an explosion. First it lands us slap bang in the middle of the best city in all the multiverses. Then it gives me the career of my dreams, sans screaming and/or staring. And then to top it all off, it brings in Harmonica.

I'm telling you, all we need are Gunn, Connor and two certain vampires and our little family album would be complete again. Heck, I'd even take Groo as the weird cousin who shows up and eats all the hummus.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
