Some stories I've read say that faeries die without their powers, much like flowers wilt and wither when they don't have soil to grow in. Some stories say that faeries without their powers are pixies or sprites, which are like mean versions of faeries that like to trick travelers and make people unhappy. A few stories I've read are about faeries or elves that lost their powers, but are very courageous and brave, and they prove that they can be just as good as others by doing something mighty that others could not, even when they were missing their magic. I don't know which one is true. Maybe they all are.

Humans are confusing because we are very, very complicated creatures. I don't really understand us as humans very well myself, beyond a mechanical or textbook sense.

I think that there are lots of different faeries, and so the different stories apply to different kinds of faeries, perhaps?
