Who: John and Jade!
What: Meeting up on John's return to the castle

It had been a long and crazy journey out into the Dead Zone. Okay, admittedly it hadn't been that long, but it had definitely been crazy! None of John's previous trips out there had been so action packed, and while most of the time these sort of high flying adventures wouldn't bother John so much, it was a lot more bothersome when, well... he couldn't fly!

So it was kind of nice to be back at the castle where his powers worked again. What wasn't so nice was all the crazy shenanigans that had gone down while he was away! Jailbreaks, explosions and betrayals! Oh my! John honestly wasn't even sure what was going on as he slowly walked up the lawn of the castle, towards the looming building, wondering how all this had happened in the short amount of time that they were away!

Jade is sitting on the lawn, back pressed against the trunk of a tree. She figures if she's going to be trapped somewhere, it's kind of nice to be trapped in such a pretty place.

Her attempts to find Dave and the others had, so far, been fruitless. She comforts herself with the fact that there are apparently some time (and memory!) shenanigans going on here, and that she's sure to find them soon. But when she spots a familiar flash of blue, her heart skips a beat. That is most definitely John, and he is most definitely alright.

So really, the way she launches herself at him and how tightly she hugs him shouldn't be much of a surprise.

It's surprising to John! But then again, he isn't even aware that Jade had returned to the castle at all, having been so wrapped up in all the shenanigans that had happened in the Dead Zone. He is aware of the bigger, castle wide events that affect everyone, but Jade's appearance probably wasn't something a bunch of people were going to be announcing over the journal.

So when a sparkly, black-garbed shape jumps out of nowhere and throws her arms around him, John lets out a loud yelp, reeling back away from her, ready to toss her to the side. Luckily for Jade, unlike the time Rin decided to pounce on him with a hug, he recognized her face before he lashed out.

"Jade?!"

Whoops. Jade giggles, stepping back. "Hi! I'm sorry I scared you." She rocks back on her heels, and can't help but grin at him. He's safe! And so are Rose and Davesprite. Now she just needs to find Dave. "I really missed you! How long have you been here?"

He has so many questions! When did she get here? How was she handling all the craziness that had gone down in the castle while he was gone? Did she know Rose was here too? Where was her room? However, he only ends up asking one.

"Why do you have ears?!"

He is pretty sure that last time she was here she didn't have those, so this isn't some secret trait of Jade's that he never knew about before because they were internet buddies. Oh, wait, she had asked him a question too. He should probably answer that really quickly before she has a chance to answer his kind of rude one.

"About a year! But that doesn't really matter right now."

"Oh, right!" She smooths her skirt, grinning at him. "I reached god tier, and Jadesprite was my dreamself, so I got her ears!" Or Bec's ears, technically. Right? "Aren't they awesome?"

That response throws her, and she frowns. A year? How is that possible? Did the Scratch really mess things up that badly, or is it the work of the Castle itself? "Really? You must have been so worried about us!"

Awesome was definitely... one way to put it! John wasn't sure not to feel about this information, but Jade seemed okay with all of this, so he guessed it was probably alright! Though god tier, Jadesprite, had he heard something about that before? It was hard to recall, it had literally been over a year ago since the events of suburb, but he did clearly remembering hearing from Vriska that Bec had becoming Jade's sprite when she made him fall asleep in the middle of trying to save Jade, so it sounded like that all had something to do with it.

Still! This was a huge change, and John wasn't sure how to take all of it, so he nodded along dumbly in agreement, not sure what else to say to that and respond to the second part.

"I guess so! Most of the time you guys were here with me though. I mean, you left a little while ago, but it looks like the castle brought you back, which probably means it really likes you."

He paused for a minute and made a face at that idea. "That's probably not a good thing."
