Oh half of my heart's got a grip on the situation
Who: River Song and the Doctor (11th)
What: A romantic date for our two lovebirds
When: 10/13
Where: A fancy restaurant in town
Rating: PG-13 at the most
It was a very fancy restaurant and apparently River had even gotten a reservation. Since she hadn't changed, she was merely wearing a comfortable fitting black dress, not unlike the one she'd worn the second time he'd met up with her in their wibbly wobbly timelines. It wasn't long at all before they were seated at a cozy little candle lit table. With River sitting across from him. The atmosphere was very quaint and rather romantic. After spending all afternoon talking and getting tipsy with Helen, she had decided she had to take the reigns in this strange almost-yet-not relationship of theirs. As was the usual case.
Strangely enough, he had seemed almost too eager for this. It startled her. She'd expected to have to drag him along or get out her handcuffs. The Doctor always seemed to surprise her at the oddest times.
"Well, what do you think?"

"Well, what do you think?"

He smiled as he looked around, unsurprised that River had managed to procure the best table in the house. "It's nice. Quiet. I can't say I've been here before."

"I friend of mine told me about this place and I've been meaning to come here, so I thought I'd make a reservation for two. Get you out of your lab." She takes a deep breath and drops a bomb on him. "I know I must have been a handful during my loss. James has been filling me in. Amy and Rory are angry at you because of me - again." She chooses that moment to examine her menu. "Seems I'm always causing you some form of trouble and yet, you put up with me."

"It's not your fault- it's mine. She blames me for Demon's Run, for not telling her about you, for bringing you to her with no warning..."

She manages a small chuckle, "You could hardly be expected to raise me for those two weeks. That would have been entirely too awkward." Because of the whole kissing business before her loss.

He relaxed again, consciously letting go of the tension he'd been holding. She was right, of course. Not that he hadn't known that all along, but it still made a difference hearing it said aloud.

"It must have been alarming to find me like that. I wish I could remember the look on your face. I really can't recall anything about my loss, but I'm sure you must have learned how wild I used to be." To say that this version of River Song is tame compared to her past, that's an understatement.

"I only found you because you wouldn't stop screaming." He chuckled, "You certainly have a pair of lungs on you. You knew what you wanted and you wanted the whole world to know."
no subject
"Sounds like me. Thankfully though, I've developed somewhat more subtle ways of getting what I want." And yes, that's a very catty grin aimed your way Doctor. Whether it goes over your head or not.

He took a sip, giving himself a moment to think. Based on the shameless flirting, not to mention that kiss, it wasn't hard to figure out what direction their relationship was headed. He was still getting used to the idea, himself. Of course, knowing that it was going to happen before he even even fully realized his own feelings rather took the fun out of things, but who was he to complain.

Right on time, their food arrives and it looks positively scrumptious. River takes up her fork and begins to eat her spaghetti.
Whoa, almost lost this tag DX
Amazingly, the chef managed to put together precisely what he wanted and he's quite pleased with the taste. He looked around the restaurant again, this time thinking about the setting, itself. He hadn't realized it until she said something, but it really was a romantic setting. The candles, the soft music... it finally occurs to him that she's doing more than just casually flirting, tonight.

Dr. Song, you've got that look on your face.
She laughs and shakes her head at him. Just to tease him back, she leans over and spears some of his food onto her fork, eating it with a sound of relish. She'd gotten used to the Doctor's strange taste in food over the years. At least this wasn't something terribly disgusting like fish fingers and custard.

He grins before reaching over and stealing some of her food, in return. When he puts the fork in his mouth there's a moment's thought before he cringes and spits it into his napkin. "Oh, that's just rubbish." He wiped his tongue off with an unused corner of the napkin.
