[Sam's got his day down to a science at this point. He spends most nights in the library, because not a lot of people are around and it's the best time to get some actual work done. He spends most days down at the Pie Hole doing his job. When he wants to go out for a drink, he heads to the Death Match.

He avoids the Lux. He knows he upset Jo, though he's not entirely sure WHY, and isn't looking to generate any more awkward from that.

Any other time of day, you can probably find him out and around the castle, with his dogs, without his dogs, whatever the case may be. It's choose your own adventure -- Winchester style!]

The Pie Hole

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-13 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
What with the recent pandemonium over getting thrown out of the castle, Alan's taken the time to settle back into his new room before deciding to go out again. After all, the paths outside are still drowning in leaves - he's not in any hurry, but he does need the chance to stretch his legs.

This afternoon finds Alan standing outside the Pie Hole, remembering that the last time he was there - for free pie - it was delicious. Maybe it's about time for a treat. The programmer opens the door of the restaurant and steps inside to look around and absorb the atmosphere. "Hello?"

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-14 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks," Alan answered as he returned the nod. He settled into a seat near the wall and took a moment to breathe in the scent of pie. Already it was relaxing.

At least until he realized: he didn't have a free pie slip anymore, obviously, but what did people use for currency here? Especially since a castle resident could just wish for it.

This could pose a problem - he'd have to ask the young man waiting tables. How embarrassing.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-15 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
Sam didn't seem very excited to begin with, and now Alan was probably going to make it worse. But he had to ask. "Sorry," he apologized, "but how does currency work outside the castle? I'm afraid that other than the free pie that was offered when this reopened, I've only eaten at the castle."

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Alan nods; he's going to have to ask the castle for them, but he's not shameless enough to wish for caisos right in front of Sam. "Alright," he responds. Something's a little strained, like when he tries to talk Sam Flynn into taking over the company and the young man cuts him off, not wanting to talk about it.

"So...what sort of pie have you got today?"

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-18 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll take a slice of your pumpkin pie then, please," he requested with a smile. It was autumn after all, even if it wasn't quite Thanksgiving yet. If the castle even acknowledged the holiday - Alan wasn't sure.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-20 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Just water," he said with a nod to Sam, tacking a 'please' onto the end. Hm, he had to reconsider - maybe Sam wasn't as aloof as he thought.

Hopefully the castle itself didn't decide to play tricks on the residents for 'trick or treating'.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-22 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Having no soul would do that to a person.

Alan nodded, murmuring a quiet thank-you to Sam before relaxing back into the chair to absorb more of the atmosphere. Once he's sure Sam isn't going to turn around and see him, he wishes up what's hopefully enough caisos for a slice of pie and pockets them.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-23 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
At least it's not hustling or credit card fraud. Alan still felt guilty, though - but what was there that he could do around the town for caisos, anyway? He shrugged internally.

"Thank you," he smiles before thinking back to the last time he was here. "Say, what happened to the woman who runs this place? I'm surprised I didn't see her. Busy baking in the back, maybe?" Not that he was complaining about Sam - the woman just hadn't seemed the type to not be at her own little restaurant, helping out.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sorry to hear that," Alan says; there Sam is with being drawn-off, not caring. Maybe he didn't know her that well - or maybe he just doesn't want to show it. The real explanation would never cross his mind. "It tends to act suddenly, but it's always a little surprising to see who goes."

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-25 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not quite sure if that's good or bad," he admits wryly, raising both eyebrows. His loved ones around him would be a good thing, if there wasn't such a price for coming to Paradisa.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-27 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
His eyebrows furrow - this castle isn't so different from home? Alan does not want to live in the Supernatural universe, Sam. "It isn't?"

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-28 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
True, but Sam and Dean aren't quite good enough at acting to make it in other worlds!

"Oh," he says for a moment. That's certainly a first. "I'm sorry," he adds - it's not his fault, but he still doesn't think he'd wish this world - or one like it, in Sam's case - on anyone.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-10-31 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, you're right." Nothing like a computer, where he can go in, change a few lines of code, compile, and viola, changes complete.

He's not sure what else to say, at least for now, so he'll drop the topic. "Thanks for the pie, Sam."

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-11-02 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Alan nods at Sam's words and turns back to his slice of pie, having gotten some food for thought to accompany it.

He slowly makes his way through his pie, finishing after about ten minutes have passed. Alan waves Sam over before reaching to his pocket for the wished-for caisos.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-11-03 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I'm good, thanks." While Sam hadn't made Alan feel unwelcome, he kept noticing that something was a little off. "How much will that be?" So that he could pay with his stolenborrowed-from-the-castle-caisos.

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-11-04 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Alan counts out the required caisos, then adds extra - while he'd been a little confused at points, Sam had gone out of his way to answer Alan's questions, much better than any hurried waitstaff back in Center City. "Here you are. Thanks again."

[identity profile] is0latedthinker.livejournal.com 2011-11-06 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"You too." Alan waves before making his exit.

[Lois is working late tonight, and just brewed up a fresh pot of coffee, when she sees movement out there amongst the desks. She glances around the corner, and smiles when she sees who it is]

Sam?

[identity profile] loisfuckinglane.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Been a little while. Just doing some light reading or this some kind of secret project I can be nosy about?

[identity profile] loisfuckinglane.livejournal.com 2011-10-17 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I would question why you think we're going to need to be prepared for a sudden invasion of werewolves, but... considering where we are? I think you might have a point.

[identity profile] loisfuckinglane.livejournal.com 2011-10-19 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you heard of anything lately the rest of us should keep an eye out for?

[identity profile] loisfuckinglane.livejournal.com 2011-10-23 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
I was here for last year's. It wasn't that horrible, all things considered.

[identity profile] loisfuckinglane.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Haven't we met our vampire quota this year already?

[identity profile] loisfuckinglane.livejournal.com 2011-10-24 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
At least we're used to monsters and the unexpected around here. I'm sure we'll manage.
