What: A Spartan and an X-Men walk into a bar ...
When: May 12th, after this thread
Where: Death Match
Rating: None ... yet ... ?
Out of armor, free from grease and oil (mostly), Kat arrives a few minutes late. A bit abnormal for her, but recently she'd been out of sorts, dwelling more and more on her team and the fact that she wasn't quite sure what to do without them. Building the Falcon helped, a strenuous task that kept her mind and her hands busy, but it wasn't enough.
Hopefully meeting with someone who was more familiar with the Lone Wolf tactics would help. At the very least, she was still fascinated by the similarities and differences in her and Wolverine's programs and augmentations, and any chance to pick his brain more about it, she'd take.
She walks in, ducking a little to miss the doorway, and glances around.

Laura's life story. Weapon X. The Sentinels.
Jean killing Xavier.
Logan killing...
He wrenched his thoughts off from that as quickly as he could. "Figure there's no point believin' their future has to be ours."

"I guess I just hoped everything I'd done, everything any of us had done, hadn't been for nothing." Giving her life over to the military after losing everything, the training and augmentations, Beta company, Thom, every loss and sacrifice had been for something, something that had seemed so entirely unattainable until York had assured her -- they won. They finally fucking won.
Well, at least she'd gotten to hold onto that for a little while. She pounds back a good half of her beer.

Oh god, so sorry, Halo cannon is ridiculously depressing >.>
She turns back to her beer and swirls it thoughtfully in the glass. "Right before I arrived here, my team had seen to taking out a supercarrier from geosynchronous orbit. The blast took one of my teammates with it. Before the smoke had cleared, twenty more showed up to take its place. I know it can always get worse. I'd just always hoped eventually it would get better."
hahahah poor Kat ;;
"Thinking it's ever gonna be over's a good way to wind up unprepared the next time somethin' goes down," he said, the cynicism in his tone almost tangible. "You just gotta keep goin'. Keep fightin'. Beats the alternative."

"Yeah, well, then we can just hope our number gets called next."

She goes quiet a moment and hen shrugs. "I'm not seeing the end of the war, I was never intended to, but I know I've still got a lot of fight left in me and no lack of things to fight. I can only hope I get the chance."

Another metallic noise signaled their withdrawal.
"You sound pretty sure about that."

"I have to be; I'd go insane if I thought I was trapped here for all eternity. I think I might be headed there already. Besides, there's no reason why I shouldn't be. We were nearly at the bunker, just a day or so there and then on to our next mission; business as normal."

She works at her beer for a moment, silently musing, and then gives a dark chuckle. "You know the last time I was without my team? I was eleven, and before that? I was with three hundred others in training. Being the only Spartan here is not ideal."

And that would be exactly why she was so curious about you. She's going crazy here.

He gave her the wryest smirk. "I'm not actually some kinda social butterfly."
