Maybe it wasn't the right choice to make, but Jo assumed that the best thing to do in a time like this was avoid the castle and keep the windows and doors salted. At the very least, Jo hoped that it'd ensure some form of safety for Mindy. After the disappearances started, Jo told Neal and Mindy they were to 'Park it.' and that they'd all have to figure out how to get along. There was no way she was going to just let some creep-ass spirit take another kid on her watch.

She salted the doors and windows, much to Mindy's dismay.

"What the fuck is that supposed to do?"

"It's going to keep you safe from evil spirits."

"In what world does that work?"

Jo sighed, glancing to the outspoken girl, "Hopefully, this one. Look, just don't interrupt the line of salt and don't leave this building."

Mindy shrugged, "Whatever. I'm gonna use the sledge hammer again."

Neal moved quickly to try and stop her from taking down the wrong wall, but Jo was skimming all the entries trying to see if anything from these clues even sounded like something she'd heard of. It was at times like these when she wished she had the network of hunters at her fingertips. She'd call her mom or maybe Rufus... actually, she missed Bobby in times like these. He always seemed to have the answer. That was what they needed right now. They needed Bobby.

"Where is she?" Jo asked suddenly, having lost herself in her own thoughts and now being overly concerned about the whereabouts of one girl.

"She's over there," Neal reassured her. His head tipped to the side, trying to make sure she didn't wander too far away from him. Jo had thought it was hilarious that Neal's loss had installed a twenty foot leash on him in the shape of Mindy. If she moved too far away from him, he'd just instantly end up back at the castle. Which meant Mindy would have to walk all the way back to bring him out to the gallery again. It had been funny the first time to watch Neal just vanish into thin air. Then the drawback of having to go get him sunk in.

At the moment, leaving the gallery wasn't in any of her plans. It was the best choice for protecting Mindy. With minimal access points and only two floors, it was a better choice than an apartment building with unknown people entering it all the time. This was a good option and honestly in the moment, Jo assumed it was the only one she could make. Not that she needed more stress in her life, but at least this was giving her something to focus on. Something that wasn't Sam and his death and his two-week return period.

The sound of thunking from the sledge hammer stopped and Jo moved quickly to check on Mindy.

"Mindy?"

The exasperated sigh that came from the girl gave her relief.

"Jegus! I was just taking a break! I'm not going to get Calgon'd away or something."

Jo quirked an eyebrow at the language. It was better than her dropping the F-bomb like it was water, but that was just odd. "How goes the sledge hammering, anyway?"

Mindy rolled her eyes, tipping her head to the side making her uneven pigtails bob around a bit, "It goes just fucking fine. I wish I wasn't on some creepy house arrest where manual labor is the only fun thing to do, though."

Frowning, because there was that F-Bomb again, Jo nodded, "I know it's rough, but hopefully we'll figure this out and you'll be free to run around and do whatever you want."

Mindy just sighed and went back to the cooler to grab another juice-box. Sitting down on the lid she exhaled, over-dramatically, as she sipped on the juice-box.

"Uh... Jo?"

"Yeah, Mindy?" Jo asked as she stood up quickly, moving toward the cooler, where Mindy had been sitting, but the next thing she heard was the sound of the nails being dropped to the ground, scattering across the tile. Neal had been bringing the box to her. The sound pulled her attention away and that's when she realized she was all alone.

"Shit."
