Who: Delirium [livejournal.com profile] fishy_go_byebye and Romeo [livejournal.com profile] majestic_blue
What: Dinner~
When: Tonight-ish?
Where: A garden?
Rating: PG-ish

Del mumbled a little to herself as she finger walked down the hallway, memories opening up behind her as she went. Dinners didn't go well. He got angry and then everything worked but it had been very upsetting. He could be mean.

But not him. Lover (Who wasn't sparkly anymore, so Sweet Sparkly was sparkly again and Lover wasn't but he could make the glitter talk now~) was having making creating dinner and there was nobody to up and leave this time right cuz lover wouldn't do that. But the doggy was gone, and that was bad cuz presents should come back and Barnabas had been a very nice doggy even is roles went swapping.

The hallway got more chaotic behind her, but it would fade quickly, castles never did like to stay like home. Her room kept changing back.

Grabbing a handhold of nothing, Del swung herself up onto more nothing and kept on her way toward dinner. Dinner, Lover was making dinner. Lover (Who wasn't sparkly anymore, so Sweet Sparkly was sparkly again and Lover wasn't but he could make the glitter talk now~) was having making creat...

Waiting waiting waiting waiting. Romeo hated waiting. That wasn't to say he lived life in the fast lane, Air Treck or not... but he was always antsy before a show, being an actor and all. Only this time... he promised himself he wouldn't be acting. Not entirely, anyway. There was a line where theater just couldn't imitate the real thing. Perhaps Plato was right on that point.

Romeo paced the stone path before the magnificent archway leading into the garden. The lilies were blooming spectacularly, as were the tulips, and some other strange flowers he didn't recognize. The moonlight washing over the silver-trimmed tablecloth helped add to the magnificence of the scene. And there were two candles set at either axis of the table, their meager gold flame dancing along the smooth metal of the entree lids. Romeo had truly outdone himself. As per the little Chris in his head, he didn't cook any of it himself, but he had fetched it all from town and smuggled it in just for this occasion.

Romeo himself wasn't to be ignored either. Never. He'd paid special attention to his hair, and donned the blue-plaid version of his costume that always complimented whatever Deli-chan wore perfectly. Tonight, as well, he'd left his cape at home. He seemed more like he was attending some kind of royal ball than a dinner, but everything he planned to say tonight was not according to any vast scenario... only his heart.

Romeo took a deep breath and waited.

[ooc: Sorry for the late reply. My laptop has been acting up all day and connecting to the internet is nigh impossible when it freezes every ten minutes. In fact, this is my fifth sixth seventh attempt at writing a post.]

Romeo could've sworn he felt another presence nearby. But before he could spin around, he was captured by a giggling avatar of insanity. "Deli-chan~" he chimed, instinctively reaching up to cover her hands with his. "I'm flattered you came..."

He slipped out of her hold after that and spun around, only to bow low and press his lips to the back of her hand. "You look radiant tonight, as always." Laying it on thick there, Romeo? Well, he had to live up to his namesake. And he had plans for tonight... If the rest of the night were to go to pot, well, at least she would have the first part to be happy about.

Romeo's eyelashes fluttered as she played with his hair. He couldn't resist a little chuckle as he stood up again. "Deli-chan.~" He loved saying her name, because he was the only person who could fit so much love into three syllables.

It seemed like she was talking half inside of herself again. No matter. "No one is going to steal our light tonight, my love. Come on, we don't want it to get cold. And if we go slowly, we can still savor every moment." He took her hand and gently led her over to the table he'd set up, where he pulled out her chair and gestured for her to sit.

Romeo waited until she was seated completely before following suit. She was rather spacey tonight, but that was okay. Romeo had a lot on his mind, too. He paused for a moment to gather himself before speaking. "Don't fear the darkness, Deli-chan... I'll guide you, like only a servant of the moon can, so long as you promise to be my sun." He grinned, then reached over to uncover their meal.

Spread out on their matching platters was a feast. Some kind of seasoned duck, green and pasta salad, potatoes, a sauce that seemed reminiscent of red wine, bread, vegetable soup-- more than anyone could possibly eat in one sitting. Dessert had yet to be uncovered but he left those alone. While Del took in the sight of her food, Romeo poured them each a glass of merlot he'd smuggled from somewhere. He didn't profess to enjoy the stuff, but for the sake of being sophisticated, he dealt with it.

"... I wasn't sure if you liked meat or not. I forgot to ask. My apologies."

Romeo's fault for attempting to court the avatar of insanity, really. He picked up a fork and knife, started to cut into it, and then noticed her pressing confusion. "... Deli-chan? Is something wrong?" Ah, crap. This wasn't supposed to happen... not according to the scenario in his head, anyway.

Well, he wasn't going to let the evening fall apart just yet. He would have preferred never. He set his silverware down again, tried to disguise the quiet trembling inside of him and his fingers beneath the tablecloth.

"Deli-chan..." He watched with a sort of morbid fascination as she tried to pull herself together more for his sake. He wasn't sure what to say to that. What could he say? It was difficult to vocalize what he saw behind all of her piece-y chaos, but he saw something, and that mattered. She saw something in him, too...

... So why did they both try so hard to be something they could see anyway?

"You can be whatever or whoever you want," he said quite honestly, dark eyes locked on hers. "I'll take you as you are, if you promise to do the same for me. I'm-- I can be in pieces too, but we can put each other back together." He meant every word but he chose them carefully, too... It wasn't the right time yet to admit anything.

─ How was he supposed to say what felt natural when─

Romeo looked away, apparently still at war with himself.

Romeo spun the bottom of his wineglass idly, trying to look more thoughtful than brooding. Brooding didn't suit him, no matter how much he tried to get away with it; he was usually distracted by his own thoughts or by someone else noting the tendency and swooping in. "I'll never be completely whole, Deli-chan... so there's no need to worry."

A smile played softly across his lips, and he looked at her again, and the pang of doubt redoubled in his chest. "Na... Deli-chan. Can I ask you something?"

[identity profile] majestic-blue.livejournal.com 2008-05-07 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Romeo shook his hair out of his eyes. "Okay..." He glanced aside for a moment, then back to Del, then aside again. Internal war, much? "This is only theoretical. If you had to choose between the truth and the fantasy, but both loved you more than they could ever love themselves, which would you choose?"

Stupid hesitation. Stupid hesitation! Maybe he'd said too much anyway. He wanted to flee at that instant but he was stronger than that, much stronger, and so he watched her carefully and prayed to some God he didn't know that wouldn't fall apart on him again. That moment had marked the first time Romeo realized how selfish he was when it came to loving someone, and he had no right to spring that on Del back then. Perhaps now was no exception, either.

He didn't think he could watch her face, so he focused on her hands instead. Maybe, if he was lucky, she would slap some sense into him. Wait-- not likely.

"Perhaps you can understand the question better than I can explain it..."

[identity profile] majestic-blue.livejournal.com 2008-05-08 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
There was something intense but unreadable in Romeo's eyes as he watched her hands, witnessed her struggle not to fall apart. "It's not your fault," he urged her. "It's not your fault..." But it was too late. She was in pain, and falling apart, and it was due to Romeo's undying but possibly misplaced affection for her. He didn't understand the risk. He didn't understand that by putting so much stress on her, he might be risking the only part of her he ever saw.

He didn't understand. She answered the only way she knew how and he loved her all the more for it, but he couldn't possibly, possibly understand the immortal toll something like Love took. He knew that he always received horrible, broken results, though, if he ever said anything.

"Deli-chan... I'm sorry..." He took a deep breath as realization hit. "This whole thing... it's destroying you, isn't it?"

"Ah..." Of course there was nothing to say. Romeo was a fool, a foolish dreamer, and he'd always be that way. Every little chip at his soul provided by the castle gave him an edge, something that would keep him from giving up.

Right now, he did want to give up, though. Even though he saw this coming, being faced with it was entirely different. He didn't have an appetite anymore and he really needed some time to ... deal with this.

"Well... ah... I suppose I should be going. I don't want to keep you, either, since you... don't particularly..." He smiled though he fell apart, standing up. "Thank you for everything, Del... Deli-chan. Don't be upset... I'm not upset. I just remembered I need to... goodnight."
