Who: Nataku ([livejournal.com profile] fragmentedangel), and Silverbolt ([livejournal.com profile] stndbackcitizen)
What: Shortly after this journal thread.
When: Evening of July 4th.
Where: First floor.
Rating: PG.

Silverbolt was quite uncomfortable in the castle, to say the least. He couldn't spread his wings at all and if he held his head too high, it hit ceiling. But there was an upside to being trapped inside. He could see his friends much easier. In fact, that was the only good thing about being inside.

But, he shouldn't complain. Nataku was coming to see him! To do…Something. He was still a bit confused from the journal comments, but any excuse to see his young friend was a good thing.

Nataku as it walked down the hallway would occasionally set its hand against the wall. For some reason, it was having just a little trouble with the whole walking business. It would always sway a little to the left even though it was trying very hard to walk straight. And, for one reason or another, its face felt very warm. Setting its hands against its neck, it began to worry that perhaps it was catching a cold – feeling flush just couldn't be a good thing and would have to ask someone about that later, but for now, it thought it good that it would be able to see if it should do that thing with friends or not.

That seemed a little more important than its possibly bad health. For Mother and Father, they would want it to be good, wouldn't they? It was fairly certain that that was what they would want. So, it made its rather troublesome walk down the hall to the elevator – as it walked, it saw a few things wandering the halls as well. It would blink a few times, but they really wouldn't do anything and assumed them to be just residents that it had not seen before. While it would have liked to greet them; instead, it hiccupped slightly which surprised it more than anything else and kept walking just to fret about the noise it made.

Finally reaching the first floor, it poked its head out of the hall to make sure that it was right. The last floor was the eleventh which obviously wasn't right because when it looked out there was no Silverbolt. Of course, it really couldn't be blamed. There were so many wobbly ones floating about that it just got a little confused. Once more setting its hands on its neck, it fretted over the heat it felt there before hopping out of the elevator – nearly tripping over its own feet. And Nataku promptly sat down on the floor, confused. Usually, it was a little more graceful than that. It tilted its head in confusion, staring at the wall before finally getting up – and feeling light-headed in doing so.

"Silverbolt." It called, hiccupping slightly afterwards, surprised once more by the noise.

Silverbolt's ears perked up happily at the sound of Nataku's voice then flattened back against his head at the hiccup as he turned to look at him. What was that? He'd never heard a noise like that before…

"Nataku? Are you all right?"

He took a few careful steps forward, stopping when his wing scrapped against the wall. Wincing, he leaned back on his haunches and looked worriedly at the boy.

"Why did you make that noise? Are you hurt?"

Setting its hands over its mouth instead, it tilted its head to the side to show that it wasn't quite sure what it was either. "I went to clean the Merovingian's room and I had some …" hiccup "… P-Pah …" Sounding out the word didn't help, Nataku wasn't quite sure what the word was now. It was a little saddened by that, but also thought it to be a little … funny. But, never really experiencing that emotion, suddenly feeling it made it worry. "I may have caught … a cold."

"But, I want to be a good friend before any of that, is that okay?" It really shouldn't forget why it went to find Silverbolt, after all. Though, its thinking was just a little foggy. Not too bad, still fairly coherent. Or well, it wasn't sure, but felt like it was. At the very least. It didn't realize that it was so difficult to realize this things when there was no one around to help.

If his ears could have tilted further back, they would have. A cold? Wasn't that a type of illness?

"I'll let you do whatever you want as long as you go see a healer after, ok?"

He didn't want Nataku sick. Sick was bad and anything bad happening to his friend was… Bad. And if he was sick, he wouldn't be able to see Silverbolt much because he'd be with healers.

All in all, sick was bad and he didn't want Nataku sick.

"All right." Nataku looked down for a second, sad. "I don't like the idea of being sick." It was speaking more to itself than to Silverbolt. Illnesses were rather scary things. But, it shouldn't think of that if it wanted to be a good friend, right? It wasn't sure, but that would be handled later, they both agreed that it would be, anyway.

Opening its mouth slightly, it opened its arms wide to see if it could hug Silverbolt around the shoulders like it had seen. However, that didn't work at all. He was just too large to hold like that. Setting its hands back down at its sides – which only lasted for a second as they were back on its neck and face, wondering over the flushness of the skin, again – it thought that that wouldn't work at all. Though, Nataku thought perhaps to wrap Silverbolt up with its ribbon – it had not seen them use ribbon. And, that was more like an attack (and apparently for making bandages now).

"I can't do it all. You're too big and –" Another pause as it opened is mouth to set its hand in there, testing its tongue's length. "—No, it probably wouldn't be long enough." Looking down for a moment, it felt like it failed, before asking. "Could I do a little bit, would that be all right? Would it still mean that we're good friends in private?"

Silverbolt's head tilted to the side, completely confused. Too big? Not long enough? What was he planning?

"You do whatever you want to, Nataku. I told you that you could."

However, there was a small thread of doubt and even a touch of fear. What was he going to do to prove they were good friends in private? He felt like he should know more about the situation, but other then outright asking, he didn't know what to do.

So he'd go along with it. How bad could it be?

"Right." A nod -- before a hand set on its forehead to "steady" it.

Nataku stepped a little closer – though had to take a few more steps because Silverbolt was surprisingly a lot farther away than it originally believed – before realizing something and once more slightly tilted its head to the side. "I need to get up to your face."

Staring over at its ribbon, it was going to try to just use that as a bit of a system of jamming into the walls and acting as a balance so that it could. But, its balance had not been the best and considering the difference, it would probably hurt to fall. While it didn't mind the idea of falling, it was fairly sure that Silverbolt would. He was rather … odd like that. And, of course, its second option would be to try to jump and land on his shoulder – but that required some perception abilities that it seemed to be failing with also.

"What should we do?"

"My face?"

Silverbolt thought for a moment before smiling brightly. He doubled over himself, brining his face as close to Nataku's as he could.

"Is this what you wanted?"

Why did he want his face anyway? He hoped Nataku would just hurry and do what he was going to do. It was bothering him that he had no idea what was going on.

"Yes." Nataku repeated the word twice and would have nodded, if not remembering what happened the last time.

Its hands found themselves on either side of Silverbolt's face – well, tried to at the very least – it didn't work at all like it thought it should. A moment of confusion of how it would work before deciding to just do its best. And, it leaned forward to place a light kiss – in relative terms, because Nataku had tried to lean forward rather hard, because it couldn't get a nice grip, and it rather looked like those in the elevator were pressing rather hard on each other – over the part of its friend's mouth that it could before stepping back. Still, it didn't feel much different than before and only put its hands behind its back to wait to see what response that it would get about that.

A..Kiss?

Blinking, Silverbolt quickly went into beast mode, and jumped far away from his friend.

"What..What… WHY?!"

Shock was running through his every circuit. A kiss! How was he going to deal with this?! Did that kiss mean he had cheated on his lady love? NO! It couldn't have! He didn't kiss back and Nataku had done it and he wasn't a robot and-

Silverbolt smacked his forehead with his claw. Idiot! 'Private' Of course it was done in private! How could he have been so naïve?

Well. At least that answer was easy. He hadn't figured it out because a kiss was the LAST thing he'd expect from Nataku…

Nataku hadn't reeled backwards from the sudden change – it knew that it was possible, though still, its eyes naturally widened and only just suddenly sat down on the floor as it had done before. Just watching the change was a little dizzying, but it was back to itself. And like before, it got itself up out of the sitting position – only sat when waking up and knelt before Father, after all.

"Isn't that what friends do in private? They do anything, right?" A little bit of a belated reply, but it was sure that Silverbolt wouldn't mind too much about that. It wondered aloud before having something close to a realization. Still, it suddenly lowered its head to the floor, saddened.

"That wasn't good then? I'm not a good friend."

"No no no no Nataku! You have it all wrong! That's something that only lovers do!"

He suddenly felt bad for reacting like he did. He shouldn't have freaked out so bad… With a small smile, he walked up to Nataku and pressed his head against his chest. It was as close to a hug as he could get in beast mode without causing the boy to fall or goring him with his talons.

"You are a wonderful friend. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. You just really surprised me!"

"Only lovers do?" It naturally repeated the last phrase in a confused manner, before once more speaking a little more to itself than Silverbolt. "Then, those three we lovers and not friends?"

A pause.

"Why just with lovers? You can do anything with friends, right?" A tilt of the head – and a long hold of the eyes as it moved its head a little too fast in doing so. And now Nataku was surprised that its friend's head was on its chest – and a little at a loss as to what to do.

"All right, I won't." Then, that meant that it couldn't say that it wasn't a wonderful friend, because that would be anyone. That made fairly good sense to Nataku – though, wondered why Silverbolt would say something like that. What if it was true? "But, why shouldn't I?"

"And it's surprising to be kissed? Why?"

"You can do anything with friends, but kissing is generally something just between lovers." He paused for a moment the tilted his head.

"Well. Kissing like that is. Friends can kiss on places like the cheek or forehead. Or well… Kiss how ever you feel comfortable kissing someone! It's up to you."

This was so VERY awkward. And he was probably confusing the boy. Why did he have to be the one Nataku kissed? Well. At least it was him and not the one he called 'mother'. That would have been much more awkward between them.

"It was surprising because I wasn't expecting it!"

Nataku really did feel quite confused; it really didn't feel uncomfortable with kissing someone like it had Silverbolt. So, that meant that it was all right to do so with friends with that logic. Taking a moment to further mull over what was said; it finally decided that that had to be what its friend meant. "All right."

It thought about what Silverbolt has said about being surprised. "It's not good to be surprised, is it?" Just something to make sure before adding, "I'll tell my friends that I am going to kiss them first which should make them not surprised." That seemed to make some sense, and happy that its friend helped it come to this conclusion.

A faint smile.

"It was very kind of you to help me figure out what I should do." It still didn't quite understand to add 'thank you' before anything, but the sentiment was there, which was probably enough. "I'll go talk to a healer tomorrow." A slightly awkward pause before it started to head back to the elevator apparently the conversation was over.

It really wasn't very good at goodbyes, either.
