Where: The woods and then back to the castle to Misa's room
Rating:R, for language and violence

Kanda Yuu should have not snuck out of his post like that. Kanda Yuu should not have left Allen alone like that. Kanda Yuu should not have gone against orders like that. However this information did not register in his brain as he made his way down the stairs, from Bak's room outside, and from there to the gardens and then in the directions of the woods. Mugen had been unsheathed all the way down.

The other wanted a fight? Fine. Kanda was going to kill him.

Skin waited gleefully for the exorcist to arrive. This had worked out even better than he'd planned, and he couldn't be enjoying himself more.

Apathetically he glanced over at the human on the ground beside him. There was blood caked on his head now. Not that Skin cared. He spent a few highly amused minutes replying to some of the comments on the human's entry, but dropped the journal when he heard approaching footsteps.

Skin stepped away from the woods, leaving Axel hidden where he'd tossed him under a bush. He grinned maniacally at Kanda as the exorcist approached.

The exorcist kept his temper reigned in, Mugen held out. He brushed his fingers along the blade, activating the Innocence. This Noah had made his last and final mistake. Kanda had no intentions of letting this one slip away. He had killed him before... he would do it again. No matter what. Dark eyes narrowed.

"You are going to die." Kanda announced after a pause.

Skin just laughed wildly at the exorcist. "How touching you care so much about the humans. I'm sure they APPRECIATE IT!" With that, Skin exploded into his golem form, ready to unleash a barrage of lightning on the exorcist-

.... only to find it wasn't there. It was just... gone. The lightning was gone.

Skin's eyes went as wide as they would go, and he let out an incoherent roar of mindless rage.

Kanda smirked, that same smirk he'd had in his last fight with this Noah, he conjured his second illusion, two blades on his hands as he launched himself without hesitation against the Noah. And Kanda was... well, this was right. The fighting, killing, destroying. It was what exorcists were meant to do. Kill the Noah. Kill him. This was a war, and this fight was inevitable.

He moved with ease, the blades rising up to strike against the Noah's solid body, while attempting to keep out of the way as best as possible.

WHAT THE FUCK HAD HAPPENED TO HIS LIGHTNING?! WHAT THE FUCK-

Then the blades struck, and Skin howled in pain and fury as they pressed into his armored body. Forcefully he lashed out, knocking the blades away. With incredible speed he was suddenly behind Kanda, aiming a punch for the exorcist's head. If he didn't have his fucking, FUCKING lightning, he'd have to do it the old-fashioned way.

Kanda dodged, he didn't want to use his third illusion just yet... not yet, and so he gracefully stepped back trying to understand why had Skin not used his lighting yet? What... was...

....Kanda frowned to himself but then moved forward again, blades aimed at the armoured body.

Armour or not, this Noah was going to die. He was. He was.

Skin was beyond fury, beyond thinking, beyond strategy. In some deep place the loss of his lightning was devastating, something that robbed him of his identify, being a Noah-

But that mattered little right now. What mattered was the exorcist trying to cut him into pieces. Skin dodged in turn, making good use of his considerable speed, but his huge sense of loss was throwing him completely off balance and making his movements a little clumsier than the should have been. Again he tried to move around Kanda and strike out, anything to land a blow on the exorcist.

Ah, that was unfortunate. Kanda felt a screaming pain on his side when one of the blows caught him unaware. The Noah was throwing blows blindly, it was hard to get a good solid blow into the other like this. Kanda stepped back, then forth again, using the same technique he had last time against Boric.

Not as desperate, this was not falling to pieces.

Mugen felt so comfortable on his palm. He brought it down with renewed vigor against the other.

Skin wasn't really acting at all like he had during their first fight. (Not that he could know that.) Gone was the amusement and any sense of control. In their place was just pure insanity and, in its own way ... grief.

He barely noticed when Kanda struck again, and yet again he screamed in rage and pain as again his armor was pierced. This wasn't going at all like how he'd imagined it would.

This time Skin brought his arm up to block against the sword. A snarl crossed his features at the solid connection and the pain, but it gave him an opening to lash out with another blow, directly at Kanda's torso.

That blow was evident and Kanda moved back- not fast enough though- because a few moments later he was being thrown back, pain on his chest and a good tear down his coat.

"Tch."

Mugen... Kanda hesitated in his next blow, sidestepping slowly as he waited, meditating on the hardest blow to land on the other. He would have taunted the other...

...But even now Kanda had a job. To kill Skin Boric.

Kill him once and for all.

A cry and Kanda lifted his swords

Skin tried to draw some satisfaction from having harmed the exorcist even a little, but still-

but still-

That damn Innocence, that FUCKING Innocence, and his powers gone, HOW WAS HE FUCKING SUPPOSED TO DO-

But that was it. Kanda lifted his swords and Skin reacted wildly, lashing out so blindly he missed, and then the blow came down. Skin crashed to the ground, sections of his armor crumbling into pieces off his body.

Knock him out. That was the intention of his blows. Once he was out Kanda could take care of whatever else was required. Kanda turned the blade and then aimed the blow upwards aimed to hit the Noah's head as hard as he could.

It was not supposed to be this way-

This was the Innocence's fault!

NEVER FORGIVE-

But where there was wrath, there was no power now, where before the two had gone hand in hand. Where once Skin's rage had summoned millions of volts of lightning to his fingertips, now there was just... nothing. Nothing to kill the exorcist with. Just-

The blow connected solidly, knocking the Noah hard to the ground. He stayed down.

This was not going to be pretty. Kanda could have fared worse against the Noah, that much was obvious but nothing- and he meant nothing- was going to stop him right now from finishing his job. He was already here, he'd already gone this far to leave this whole thing undone. Skin had died before... so he was going to die again. Kanda would make sure he stayed dead. One step forward, elegant, precise and simply deadly-

-Mugen aimed to kill.

It was time to step in. Tyki had stood on the side lines long enough, rushing to make sure Axel was still breathing, but standing back in the shadows and allowing his only family member to be beaten into such a state. The rage that filled him as he watched Skin lying there, still welled up, but he couldn't let him die, not again.

No matter how much anger he felt, he couldn't let this go on. "That's enough, Kanda," his voice rang out. Stepping forward and taking a few very quick, precise steps, he placed himself between the Noah and the exorcist. Despite the sheer idiocy of this act, he willed his body to a complete form of solidity. "You will stop. Now."

The sword stopped. An inch from the other, just an inch. It stopped. The shock hit Kanda and he scowled holding Mugen between them, so close, so close but not moving to attack the Noah. Somewhere in the back of his mind the knowledge he should kill the other was right there, it was screaming at him. But... Lae- he ventured a glance at the redhead on the side and then back at the taller Noah.

"If he comes after again..." The exorcist let the words hang, knowing full well Tyki would understand what he meant.

"If he comes after you again, he truly is an idiot, and doesn't deserve being saved..." Tyki said coolly. He gave Kanda a blank look, the emotion was cleared from his face, even the anger that was almost drowning his thoughts. The only signs of feeling came across as he allowed one slightly worried glance to Axel, before returning his attention to Kanda.

"He's hurt," Tyki said calmly. "This fight is over. Get him help, he is your friend, isn't he?" He looked down his nose at the other in an almost commanding way. His body stayed ridged, waiting for the sword to being pulled away, or plunged into his heart.

Kanda allowed the sword to press slightly against the other, "I know." he could see the other from the corner of his eye, he could feel it. And he had not missed the worried glance tossed at the redhead either. "Isn't he yours?" Kanda returned acidly but lowered his sword, the glowing Innocence fading as it moved until it was by his side.

A blow from Tyki would have hurt now, but Kanda simply met the Noah's eyes for a few more moments before turning away towards Axel.

The eye contact was almost impossible for Tyki to keep. The sword pressing against him, even the words he didn't want to hear. He could deal with that. But somehow that look...Something was bothering Tyki. He still kept his face blank, he didn't so much as flinch at anything Kanda did, nor did he respond to the question he was asked.

Watching Kanda walk towards Axel, Tyki too turned his back to his enemy, and made his way over to the unconscious Skin. His eyes narrowed into slits as he looked down at the man. The urge to give him a few more injuries was strong, but he stood there, waiting for Kanda to take Axel and leave.

Kanda didn't look back at Tyki as he reached Axel and swallowed hard checking his injuries. Some of them were beyond his simple expertise at mending small battle wounds. He was going to need... but.... he clenched his fist feeling the anger rise again. Oh. Boric was so dead. Maybe not right now, but eventually. Kanda carefully slipped his arms around the unconscious redhead and lifted him, surprised that for someone as tall as Axel he was not too heavy.

...Shit, shit, shit...

And with that line of thoughts, Kanda began heading back towards the castle.

Tyki gave one last backward glance to the two as they left. He'd be okay...He better be okay. If he wasn't...This one was dead. He looked down at Skin, the full rage contorting his features now. The passively calm look replaced by an almost insane look. "You're damn lucky you're family," he hissed at the unconscious man.

Leaning down, he hoisted Skin's arm over his shoulder and transferred the other Noah's weight onto himself with a grunt. Why the hell did the bastard have to be so heavy? It was going to be a struggle to drag him back to the castle. The horrible temptation to just leave him there hit again. Sighing, he began walking forward, not all that worried that Skin's feet were dragging against the rough surface of the ground.

Kanda took his time and care when taking Axel back into the castle. He paused several times to make sure the other was not being shoved about too roughly. Kanda didn't know how to handle... well... things like this well.

In fact, he kind of hated it. Weakness...

...but no, this was his fault. Skin went after Axel because he knew the redhead was important to Kanda.

This was why...

Kanda entered the castle and began climbing the stairs to Axel's room. He was not sure where else to take the other, his room was out of bounds and...

For the most part, he slipped back and forth between the comfort of unconsciousness and the reality of the waking world. He clung to the darkness; at least there it didn't hurt to breathe or think. There he could float in his own numbness with no trouble and ignore his gathering problems. It was a last luxury he grasped at selfishly. Just too many things to deal with now.

A particular bump jarred him a little, and pain laced up and down his body. Axel groaned and hissed through his teeth. Damn it, didn't want to wake up. His mind tried diving back into the depths of slumber but curiosity became his enemy. Just who was holding him? Hell, was that asshole Noah still dragging his half-alive carcass through the forest? Blinking his eyes open momentarily, Axel caught sight of a familiar face.

"... Heh." That was really all he could say. It hurt to attempt any other words. His lips twitched before he let his eyes fall closed again.

Kanda clenched his jaw because he really didn't know what else to do as he climbed up the stairs and stopped in the corridor of the fifth floor. No, this wouldn't do at all. Axel's room was not a good idea. He couldn't take Axel up to where Rinali was either. The exorcist scowled trying to think what was the best course of action for now...

...Misa.

She could keep a secret better than anyone else. She was outside the order too. And... yes, Axel would be safe there for now. Retreating back to the fourth floor he sought out her room. He nudged the door with his elbow and waited for a reply.

Misa looked up from the mirror, lipstick in hand, when she heard a sound at the door. Who would be knocking now? Better not be a psycho. Sighing, Misa dropped the make-up and made her way to the door before prying it open. Kanda. And a bruised something with red hair. "Yuu Yuu?"

Kanda would have liked to smile... except he never did that instead he gave Misa a nod. "I need to borrow your room for a while." he paused and swallowed shifting carefully the weight in his arms.

"Please." he added after a brief pause.

She frowned. The one night when she hadn't paid much attention to the journals. Misa nodded and ushered Kanda in before closing the door. "Put him on the bed," she said, already there and pulling back the blankets. She didn't ask questions. "He looks like he needs a doctor."

Kanda was careful when putting the other down on the bed, "Yeah, " he glanced away from Axel to Misa, looking unsure. He was fine, mostly but... "Yeah," he repeated himself. "...Can..."

He hesitated.

"Can you do me another favour?"

Misa eyed Axel on the bed. Who else would it be? Kanda looked mostly alright. Whatever happened, it was serious. Kanda seemed ...distracted. Uncertain. She would have to do her best. She flashed Kanda a peace sign. "Just tell Misa what to do."

...Kanda stared at her for a moment and then gave a nod. "Do you know Ino? She helped me when I was injured, she may be able to do... something for... him." he cleared his throat again. "Can you find her and bring her here?"

Misa thought for a moment. She knew of Ino. They'd talked the other day. The ninja flower shop girl, yeah, she was friends with Yuu Yuu and his friends. Finding her shouldn't be that hard. She looked up at him seriously. "Leave it to Misa. This is a secret, right? You're not staying."

"Yeah, this is a secret." he almost wanted to smile, except he couldn't. "Between Yuu and Misa Misa." But he could call her that now, no one else would listen. No one else had to know. "No. I can't stay." People would ... he still had to...

"Thank you"

Again the pause. "Please."

Misa sighed. Yuu Yuu was being nice. This was serious. She winked and flashed two fake guns at him with her hands. "Got it. Misa will take care of things." With that, she punched him in the arm, looking sternly at him. "You be careful, too."

Kanda gave her a nod. "Promise." Because he liked to keep his promises. She punched him in the arm and... he gave her something of a less than a scowl look. He just didn't smile.

"Good." Because he couldn't ask the order right now...

Yuu Yuu hated people who didn't keep their promises. Misa knew that. So she smiled and glanced back at Axel. Ouch, he looked terrible. She didn't need to know what happened or where Kanda was going. She'd probably find out the moment she looked in the journals. This was a matter of loyalty. Kanda trusted her with this. Thanks, Yuu Yuu, Misa won't let you down. "You better get going then, huh? I'll find Ino now. Nurse Misa Misa will look after Axel!"

Satisfied with her words, he gave her a final nod before turning away and moving towards the bed. He scowled- this at himself and leaned over Axel, patting his shoulder. "Lae?"

A grumpy noise escaped his throat. Axel's eyes squeezed shut as if in concentration; damn it, he didn't want to wake up. "Hnn."

Slowly the hand on his shoulder coaxed him fully awake, to the point even Axel admitted defeat. He relaxed his expression and opened his eyes, giving Kanda a flat expression. While his body was no doubt in great amounts of pain, his gaze told of annoyance and maybe a bit of reproachment for Kanda showing up in the first place. He tried sitting up, found that was not a good idea when his chest exploded, and gritted his teeth harshly.

Kanda returned the gaze with annoyance too, "Don't move, you have broken ribs." he moved his hand down Axel's chest slowly and carefully feeling the cracks... the wrong angles of the bones, the unplesant twists. Oh god. His free hand clenched angrily. "And don't give me that look." As if Kanda would leave the other like that. Not just any other but Lae of all people...

"N-noticed," he growled out through his raw throat, and willed his harsh breathing into something more gentle and forgiving to his chest. Even the slightest of breaths sent new jolts through his body, not pleasant in any form. He was tempted to ask Kanda to either knock him out right there or run him through with Mugen, counter-productive though that would be.

Being ordered not to glare only made his gaze icier. He closed his eyes briefly, then opened them again to give Kanda a look over. Obviously been fighting, but nothing out of place. He couldn't find any injuries either. Lucky bastard; Axel wished he'd been conscious, just so he could watch Kanda run Skin through... though that thought annoyed him again.

"Fuckin' Noah..."

"Ino should be coming shortly." he added after another pause, he was surveying the wounds and left for a moment to go fetch a wet towel from the bathroom. He returned with it and bent over, brushing it against the side of Lae's face. That bastard Noah. "Yeah, fucking Noah." Kanda agreed and swallowed heavily again. At least Axel was alive. He was... he could have died. But... oh god.

He was now simply relived that Axel was alive, even like this. Even... yeah. Kanda didn't have much words for now except- "...be glad you're alive."

Axel only snorted, gritted his teeth again because he accidentally jarred his chest, and somehow managed to roll his eyes in exasperation. Well yeah, he wasn't exactly upset he still held the ability to breathe, no matter how annoying this situation became.

The cool, wet cloth started to lull him back to the darkness of sleep, but this time Axel fought against it. He fixed his gaze quietly on Kanda, and just watched him. He wasn't completely stupid. Even with his mind in shambles and body in a much worse condition, he knew this would affect his friend.

He honestly felt sorry for the trouble he caused Kanda.

...And the frightening part? Kanda didn't care... he would have done it all over again. He took care with the cool towel cleaning off dirt and blood as best he could. "This is Misa's room. I trust her." So Axel was in good hands while he had to.... he had to.... Kanda tensed a little. No, this was his fault, Axel... "You're not part of this war." So there was no reason Axel had to be involved. Right?

Meeting the green gaze for a few moments, he didn't know what to say.

He had been worried, angry, confused... and now there was relief along with the guilt and- Kanda feigned an exasperated sigh and pulled the cloth back. 'Flamey' was such a pain. ...Not in a bad way. Kanda did the only thing he could to explain things- leaning down he carefully slipping his arms around the other pulling him into a hug. It was awkward and unsuited because Kanda did not hug much if at all.

It took willpower not to allow the uncomfortable grunt from coming out. He knew it wasn't Kanda's intention, but the man brushed up against his ribs. He said nothing, however, understanding the rare hug for what it was, and let it happen, unable to hug back and knowing Kanda understood.

And yeah, maybe he wasn't part of this war... he'd told Allen as much. But friends were friends in his opinion. Any other factors held no significance to him. Axel had no regrets about who he chose to care about, nor did he expect anyone to understand his logic. Didn't give a damn either. Everyone else could fuck off and bitch on their own time.

He chuckled despite the pain, and smiled a bit. His eyes closed again and without a word, he let himself fall back into unconsciousness. Egh, it'd be alright... and he hoped no one expected him to actually stay in Misa's room for long.

Kanda stayed still like he was, even though he felt the other body go limp beneath him. He was still breathing, Kanda clung on tighter for a moment. This was someone he cared about. Pulling back he sighed, this was his fault. He dropped his head, resting his forehead against the redheads. "Sorry, Lae." he added. It seemed apologising was something he was doing more and more these days. With some people. Not with everyone. Just some people. Making sure the other was comfortably settled in the swordsman rose.

He was reluctant but he had to go. But...

Yeah, he was useless at saying the important things. And when he left that room, Kanda Yuu was not expecting to see Lae any time soon.
