[dial up my number]
Who: Haru (
daytime_show) & Leo (
shinjuku_lion)
What: hanging out & catching up?
When: St. Patti's or thereabouts
Where: Leo's room (1008), etc
Rating: ...well, it's Haru and Leo, so at least PG13 for sure
Leo chuckled a little at Haru's last reply and the scraping sounds of the man bustling to get himself on out through the door. It was almost hard for the lion boy to think that, although they lived on the same damn floor, the two hardly ever ran into each other. Then again...There was the size of this place to take into consideration. And it just seemed to keep growing.
Yeah, so it wasn't all that bad having some fresh faces to get a gander at, especially considering, in this kind of place, who could really expect a guy to learn everyone's name? But it also made the thought of home, a particular subject Leo had been pointedly trying to ignore since he got here, more...prevalent. ...Was that the right word? Damn. Miyuki'd know, if that guy was around. But some things couldn't be helped, right? Right. So what he was going to do know was to stick a cig in his mouth, get a grin back on his face, and enjoy some al-ah, HANG time. Yeah, hang time with Haru.
"Damn." Leo muttered, fingering the new lighter he'd found on his dresser not long after writing to Haru that he'd needed one. "What's taking that guy so long?"

It was almost as if he was ... running away from thoughts of home.
So as it was, Leo wasn't the only feeling a little home-sick at the moment.
He approached the door and knocked before stepping back to wait, his hands clasped behind his back, bouncing a little in simple excitement.

"Took you long enough!" Leo hollered from where'd he'd been sitting upright on his large bed, waiting. "You moved so slow-"
The boy cut himself off as he made his way, in fluid movements, to the door in less than a second. Opening the door, he finished.
"I started thinkin' you were a human."
A smug grin adorned the half's face and his cigarette jutted out of his mouth at a dangerous angle, threatening to fall out. Thankfully, it wasn't lit yet.
"Long time no see...So, ah, you wanna come in first or...? I mean, what've you been up to all this time anyway?"
Talking to Haru was always more of a pain than it should be. It wasn't like talking to Yukito, who would probably just kick him in the balls anyway, Fuku-chan who was like a little wife, or that guy, Ryoki (right?). But why'd that last name pop up? ...It wasn't anything important to him, was it? Maybe he'd ask Haru. Oh, that reminded him.
"Almost forgot." Leo added, and jammed his hand down into a pocket, attempting to work something out. "You want a cig too? I didn't know if this place would have any of the brands from back home, so I saved you one. ...I thought..."

"I couldn't be a human, never in a million years," he defended himself, giving Leo a poke in the chest.
"Anyway, I've just been around, talking to some of the people here; nothing too exciting." Then, grinning, he reached up and plucked Leo's cigarette right out of his mouth and put it in his own, trying to mimic the way he held it, but failing.
"'m glad you thought of me, though. Especially enough to save me one of these." His speech slurred in a cute way as he spoke around the cigarette, but it wasn't as if he was doing it on purpose. Of course not.
"You mind if we move this party inside~?" he added, stepping closer to stand almost in the doorway.

"You sound like a dork, talking like that!" the lion-boy informed Haru, tryying to ignore the fact that it had been his cigarette in his mouth before the other had snagged it away. "Maybe I should just keep all of mine next time. More for me!"
Leo moved back then, edging away from Haru and widening the entrance to his room. Why did it feel like he was inviting in disaster? But it was a little to late to stop now, after he'd offered.
"Yeah yeah, go right in. Make yourself at home, or whatever." On his part, Leo had ambled back to the night stand and picked up the spare cigarette, stuck it in his mouth, and lit up. He held the barrage of smoke back in his lungs a moment before letting it all out. Not the best habit in the world, but it sometimes helped him chill out. And it was better than blowing up.
"I haven't exactly done anything too exciting either. I mean, this place is in a constant state of crazy, so maybe I'm just sparing my brain. Did you see those snakes out? Some damn nutjob let them loose..." Leo drifted off from his minor ramble.

He made his way over to the bed and sat on it, placing one leg over the over. He still held the unlit cigarette in his mouth. He listened to Leo, amused. "I nearly locked myself up in my room when I heard of the snakes. That was just ... ew. It feels as if this place never sleeps, never."
Haru fell back onto the bed, gaze landing on the ceiling. He reached for a lighter in his pocket, one he'd found a few days ago lying around his room. It was creepy sometimes how the castle just seemed to leave things for you.
He brought it out and lit the cigarette he'd stolen from Leo, breathing out the smoke and childishly trying to trace something in it. It was funny how they kept habits that were harmful, like this and the Candy. Reckless living, Haru called it.
"But it really hasn't been so bad." And he let those words hang in the silence.

"With all the freaks we have here, it probably doesn't. I mean, I seriously doubt that everyone who's been pulled here could honestly agree on something as simple as 'knock it the fuck off for a little while'."
The lion-boy sat on the bed then too, for lack of anything better or constructive to do and watch Haru play in the smoke.
"You know, for the oldest one out of the gang, you act like a kid." he grinned then, and hoped that maybe picking on the other would lighten the mood. That, of course, was when he remembered.
"Hey, that reminds me. Haru, what about your family? Well, I mean, your kid really. I don't know how the time in this place works but, it's been awhile since we got here...No one's gonna go looking for you back home, are they?"
[[ooc; soz for short >/ and lemme know if that's not okay 8D Leo's a SMART one.]]

He was about to say something else on that topic when Leo's question hit him, hard. It was like a bucket of cold water was poured on him, and suddenly, he felt lost.
His smile dimming more than a bit, he let the question stay for a moment, watching the smoke curl from the end of his cigarette. Finally, he answered -
"Family? I ... don't think I had a family, Leo. Where'd you get that from? And no one's going to look for me, except maybe those that'd been my regular customers, but they aren't important." He laughed, although it sounded awkward.

"Haru...are you alright? I mean, I can see you and you look fine but...Weren't you the one that told us you had a family? Well, you said you were what? Divorced? But I remember that you had a kid..."
During his further questioning, Leo turned his body to face his friend and was now sitting with both legs and arms crossed. While he went through the journal's many entries, whenever he was bored, the half-lion had heard of people who had lost memories after coming to Paradisa, but all those people...Their memories had only been of friends, right? Or...Or stuff that had happened! Yeah...There was no way that someone could lose something like memories of their family was there?
"Haru...Have you, you know, noticed anything missing since you got here? Like...well, can you still race? Can you remember meeting everyone? What about that race with Yukito, when you saved her? 'cause there's no way..."
He trailed off there, hoping for the best but suspecting the worse.

Haru knew there was the possibility that he had paid a price like all the others, and that was it. But how could he believe something - even though it was Leo telling him - that his mind rejected completely?
"I can still race, I tried the other day. I still remember how I met you," as he spoke, he sat up, leaning towards Leo. "and when I almost broke my head open when I saved Yukito and - and, I remember everything, honestly!"
He felt frustrated to have come across this memory block.
no subject
How to say it?
"It was the same night, Haru." he finally settled on. "It was that same night, after you saved Yukito? She kept calling you a 'fag' and then you told us. Do you still remember her not talking to everyone for 5 or 6 days? That was why..."
Leo felt bad having to break it to his friend this way, but it seemed like it would be better him than for it to come up randomly with a stranger. It also made Leo wonder what he'd lost. Unlike Haru, he really didn't have a family, and he remembered everyone, so...
"Are you alright?" he asked.
no subject
He couldn't doubt Leo. Leo wouldn't joke about something like this, right? He wouldn't play with another person like that. Leo didn't do things like that. "Yeah, I do remember her ignoring everyone, but ..." he trailed off, his eyes out of focus.
"I'm not sure if I'm alright, Leo." was all he said before falling quiet.

Way to go, hero!
'Hey, shut up!' Leo thought, before realizing that he was both instigating and having a mental confrontation with himself.
But what was someone supposed to do in this kind of situation?
Comfort the person...but...Oh hell! Stuff like this never happened at home! Yeah, it hurt when someone died, but everyone knew the candy's risks! And yeah, sometimes one of the younger kids would fall and scrape the hell out of themselves, but a first aid kit always fixed that...
Moving awkwardly at first, Leo leaned his body forward and wrapped his arms around Haru, pulling the older half into a hug.
"We'll...figure somethin' out, Haru." he said, trying to sound more convinced than he felt.
no subject
Was that all? Did the family he'd forgotten mean so little? Although, he supposed he couldn't force himself to feel for people he didn't even remember knowing about.
He did appreciate Leo trying. It was ... sweet, as sappy as that sounded.
"Thanks, Leo."
no subject
...What the HELL was he thinking!?
Leo let go of Haru and scooted back some on the bed.
"A-Alright, alright! Enough of that sappy shit! Now that we know what you're missing we can keep our eyes out for a way to get it back, right? Right. I don't know about you, but I'm not for spending the whole rest of the day being all sniffle-nosed and whiny! Let's...I dunno, let's just go out somewhere or something! Hell, even if it's getting late, there's got to be something worth doing."
