[Log: Clark Kent and Leon]
Who: Clark Kent and Leon
What: CPVC Interview
When: 3/10, 10 AM.
Where: Library
When it came close to his interview time, Clark Kent had made sure to leave, to make sure that he wouldn't be stopped by any emergencies, or anything like that. He hadn't changed into his suit, or anything like that, but had instead strolled down the stairs at his own pace, taking his sweet time, while still keeping a careful eye on his watch. Clark was normally quite punctual, although there was the occassional disaster that threatened his attention.
He did arrive in front of the library with a good 5 minutes to go, checking his watch before shifting nervously. He didn't know what to expect, and although the last interview he had gone through was successful, who said that this one would...and he had a feeling that he would have to...let on a certain secret that he really disliked to let loose.
At 10:00AM, Leon left his makeshift office to head to the front of the library. This would be his first interview for CPVC, but with the general road questions were going to barrel down to, he wasn't too worried. He had discussed and discussed with Selphie until his jaw hurt from talking too much, afterall. His first victim was Clark Kent, after a reminder from the schedule list. Leon remembered seeing his name with Lois Lane in the articles posted in the journals, which had piked his curiousity and slight annoyance. He hoped Clark Kent was serious about committment to the program, and not just there for some sort of story.
He noticed a man standing around infront of the library almost immediately, and crossed his arms over his chest. "Clark Kent?" he questioned.
Clark looked up from his focus on the floor, and smiled widely at Leon, reaching out his hand earnestly. "Oh! Er, th-That's me!" he said nervously, peering at the man with interest. It never ceased to amaze him the wide breadth of people who were here in this castle! Some seemed so painfully normal, like him, and others just looked like there was something more to them, like this fellow. He couldn't help but feel like this guy was different...like most people here. He should be more surprised to find someone without superpowers anymore, it seemed.
Although that did make him nervous.
Leon uncrossed an arm to shake Clark's hand firmly, nodding in greeting. "Follow me." He turned, padding to the back of the library to his office, and held open the door for the man--almost suspisciously nervous, if you asked Leon. "Have a seat, Mr. Kent."
Clark followed, and sat down in the small office, looking around with interest. "T-Thanks," he said, grinning broadly at the man. Oh, he hated this feeling in his gut. He had felt it so often around Lois, but he now knew it to be the 'Secret' feeling in his stomach, and it always meant that he would be revealing the most important secret he had ever kept.
Leon closed the door and walked over to his desk, rounding it to sit himself and open up his journal. It would record the interview, allowing Leon a back-up incase he misread Clark's lips. He was a little floundering with the ability to read lips, but he was improving. "So," he started. "Tell me a little about yourself. I saw you wrote several articles with Lois Lane."
Clark smiled, and nodded. "Y-yeah, she was my partner at the Daily Planet back home in Metropolis," he admitted, and leaned back in the seat comfortably. He could look smooth. Yeah, be smooth. "She is also a close friend," he said, but the hint that there was more hung on the edge of his phrasing. He wasn't going to go around spouting out that he and Lois had been married...especially when this Lois didn't even remember the fact.
Leon nodded, picking up his pen and clicking it against his chin. "So, you and Ms. Lane like finding stories to write about?" he prompted, eyes narrowing slightly. "You understand my hesitance with a journalist right in the middle of this program. What do you have to offer me other than stories?"
Clark swallowed. He knew this was going to come about. "We like reporting what we believe the people have a right to know," he said tersely. "We both believe in letting the people form their own conclusions about corruption, and that there should be very little hidden from people, especially when it could harm them," he said, looking Leon straight in the eye, belying his earlier nervous personality. Sure, he was still terribly nervous, but here he was slipping into his Superman persona so easily and quickly that he could barely tell that he was doing it. "And I have...alot to offer," he said, tipping his head slightly at the accentuated word.
Leon leaned forward, resting his elbows against the wood of the desk and linking his fingers together. He was already liking this guy--liked the look in his eye. Although a sort of wishy-washy sense came from it, Leon was bound to widdle that out of the Mr. Kent. "Like?" he prompted.
Clark swallowed when he realized that he had given too much away, and swallowed, tugging on his tie nervously. "Y-You swear these are completely confidential?" he asked, smiling nervously. "There's something of a...uh...big...secret," he admitted weakly, feeling rather nervous. This guy was so...cold. He reminded him something of Luthor...but...not. He had a good feeling about him...but he felt terribly nervous around someone who could be so impartial.
Leon rose an eyebrow. Nervousness back. Like this guy had merely glimpses of something akin to courage, or boldness. He wanted that bold side. "Yes," he said firmly. "The only people who review these interviews is myself and Selphie, but I can omitt information that will not effect whether or not you are chosen to partake in the program." He leaned back in his chair in an effort to seem less imposing.
Clark swallowed, and nodded. "W-Well..." he took a deep breath. This was worse face-to-face than through the journals. He had already told Lois...but he already had a very strong feeling as to how she would react. "I...have...powers..." he said nervously. "Abilities that allow me to...help..." he sighed, looking down at his hands nervously. "Back in Metropolis...I assumed another identity to allow me to help everyone without...being..." he sighed softly. "Without being 'disected like a frog'," he described, using his father's phrasing.
Leon nodded faintly, taking note in the corner of the journal. "I have no scapel," he said in an awkward way of trying to be reassuring. "What sort of powers? Strength? Magic? I would like to know all aspects of it."
Clark swallowed. "E-Er...I used to have Invulnerability," he admitted, before he shook his head. "But that was taken from me when I arrived here," he admitted softly. "I still have my Super-Strength, Super-Speed, Ice Breath, I can shoot lasers from my eyes, and I can fly," he said, shaking his head. He always felt like a braggart when listing off his abilities.
Leon's eyebrows rose briefly. "Interesting," he commented. "Can you fly for only a short period of time or...?" Well, this guy could certainly be used for transport, keeping watch... a few things Leon could list off the top of his head, anyway. He was intrigued. Leon liked being intrigued.
"I can fly for as long as I want, it comes as naturally as walking," he blinked, before shaking his head. "Oh! I also have super-hearing and X-ray Vision," he admitted, his most important abilities, they were always helpful when he was reporting, but they did have functional uses as well. "A-Although I try hard not to use alot of those abilities unless it is absolutely needed," he admitted.
The corner of Leon's lip twitched. My, this guy was... Well, going to be incredibally useful. "You seem like a good guy," he commented. "Do you try and just use your powers for good? Tell me about some of your past experiences with struggles."
Clark nodded. "Always for good," he mentioned, nodding severely. "I would never kill anybody, and I find it very difficult to harm those who must be, unless there is no other way to restrain them," he mentioned severely. Oh boy...past experiences...he sighed, and took off his glasses, setting them on the desk in front of him. there wasn't much need for those anymore, now were they? "Which one?" he asked, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I've traveled through time, visited an alternate universe, been married to a clone, and every other thing you could imagine," he said, shaking his head.
Leon stifled a snort at the clone bit, coughing lightly into his hand. "I'm more interested in the types of experiences you feel can better CPVC reaching its goal of a higher level of safety," he elaborated, rubbing his scar with his right hand.
Clark gave Leon a scrutinizing look before he nodded. "Well I've spent the past four years defending Metropolis as best I can...and that's a large city...plus every disaster I could make it too. Robberies, murders, plus a day job..." he trailed off, and smiled. "I'm pretty sure CPVC would be much easier than keeping two identities," he mentioned lightly.
Leon nodded in agreement. Yeah, this guy would be a good part of the team. "So... why is it you really want to join CPVC? Continue a former glory? Help the people?"
Clark swallowed and looked down. "To prevent as much death and misery as I can," he said simply. The past 2 weeks had weighed heavily on him, and he had forced himself to ignore the sheer fact that he hadn't been able to help everyone...as painful as it was.
Leon studied the expression on Clark's face silently for a moment. This guy seemed generally of good nature, something rare. Sora, he was a good kid, but he was still a kid--this Kent was a grown man and still... good. "Okay," he stated. "That's all I need to know. I'll review this with the CPVC president and contact you in a few days."
Clark nodded, and stood nervously, retrieving his glasses before slipping them on hastily. "E-Er, thanks," he said, reaching out his hand to shake it with Leon one more time. It was always polite, afterall, and completely proper for an interview. "Thank you for giving me the time," he said earnestly.
Leon stood, taking Clark's hand again, lips twitching. This guy was great. "Thanks for volunteering, Mr. Kent," he said in turn after a glance down at the journal.
Clark nodded earnestly, with a bright smile. "J-Just doing what I think is right," he said, before backing out of the room, giving Leon a last polite smile before turning to leave, and do...Clark-y things.
