Who: Aang and Katara.
What: Finding out if her waterbending has returned.
When: After this.
Where: The lake.
Rating: G. Aang is so cute, and we needed some Katara/Aang logs! :D

The eclipse was almost over.. And Katara was feeling extremely anxious about a lot of things. Whether or not she'd get back her bending was one. But more importantly, the new plan which Iroh and Zuko came up with to gain Azula's trust. It would put Aang in danger, and she felt stupid for going along with it. So she found herself infront of the boy's room, a hand raised hesistantly as she reached to knock on his door. He was probably asleep, but from now on, she was going to keep very careful watch on him. She also wanted his company, more than ever, to go outside and see if her bending was returned to her.

"Aang? Sorry! It's me, Katara .." she said in a hushed whisper, after she repeated several more harder knocks to his door.

With all the sudden commotion in the castle, it was pretty hard to get any sleep. Aang didn't think that was going to be happening anytime soon, not when he didn't know where all his friends were right now. But at least it sounded like they were okay... Still, he was thinking of looking for them to make sure.

He knew that the lunar eclipse was bad news for waterbenders like Katara, so that was another thing to think about. Even though it seemed weird that she'd lost her bending before it actually happened then, maybe that was possible here. It wasn't so bad if it wasn't going to be permanent.

Aang stifled a yawn. He was getting sleepy, but he still felt kind of restless anyway. The knocking took him by surprise, startling him out of spacing out just a little. A moment later, hearing the familiar voice on the other side of the door, Aang was wide awake. He jumped to his feet and opened the door. "Katara? Are you okay?"

Once the door opened, Katara did her best to hide her feelings away. She didn't like this at all--having to hide the truth from Aang about Zuko. Soon, her friends would think he's an awful person again, and there wasn't anything she could do about it. Seeing Aang, his half-alert, half-sleepy look made her laugh warmly, and she pulled him into a brief hug. "I'm fine, Aang. Did I wake you? I'm sorry!"

When she let go, she beamed at him, and pointed out at his window. "I know it's late, but. The eclipse is almost over! I.. can't sleep. I need to know if I can waterbend," she grinned, hoping he'd understand how important this was to her. And if it weren't for creepy old men bathing in the pool, she would've simply walked down to the pool by herself. But she was going out to the lake, and very much wanted some company.

"Want to come outside with me? It'll only be a few minutes, I promise."

Aang couldn't keep himself from grinning when Katara hugged him. Even if she just hugged him because they were friends and it wasn't something reserved only for him, it was still... a nice feeling. "It's okay," he replied, shaking his head. "I wasn't sleeping." He waved his hands. And now he was definitely wide awake.

He smiled at Katara, then turned to glance at the window when she pointed at it. The eclipse was almost over? That was good - hopefully it was going to turn out that Katara could waterbend again after this.

"You're right, Katara. It looks like it'll be over soon. Okay, let's go!" Aang agreed, stepping out into the hallway outside the room. He was excited and hopeful himself now, for Katara, not to mention that the idea of heading out to the lake with her, just the two of them, wasn't one he objected to. Now all that needed to happen was Katara really getting her bending back and everything would be fine.

"Thanks a lot, Aang," Katara smiled when he agreed to go with her. She waited for him to close his door and then started to walk down the hall with the boy. Nearing the staircase, she paused for a moment, looking up the steps when she heard some running. She raised an eyebrow when the footsteps got heavier, and slamming doors could be heard. It was really late, why were people still awake?

"I wonder what's going on up there." She glanced back at Aang with a worried look. There was no time to check, though! "Hm. We can always check it out later," she finally said, and hurried down the stairs all the way to the main floor. She felt more nervous than ever, now that the eclipse was ending. Would she be able to bend? It was everything to her, she couldn't imagine what life would be like without it. Sure, she went for a week without waterbending, but she never told anyone how truly painful it was, not being able to do it.

"Well.. here we go," She took in a small breath to calm down and reassure herself, and headed for the door to leave the castle.

Aang shut the door behind him once he and Katara had left his room and headed down the hallway towards the stairs, walking alongside Katara. The sounds coming from upstairs were pretty loud, though, so he stopped in his tracks for a moment himself, glancing at Katara and then up the staircase. "Me too," he agreed, nodding at her words. It was weird... And it sounded like people were panicking about something going on up there, so Aang had been wanting to check up on his friends to make sure they were okay. It was good to see that Katara definitely was. Now they just needed to hear from the others - Aang was sure that they'd be fine, too, though.

But right now they had to find out if Katara's bending was going to be fine. Aang quickly followed Katara down to the first floor and outside, where it was starting to get less dark than it had been before as the eclipse drew closer to ending.

Aang tilted his head back, looking up at the sky, before he turned to glance at Katara. She seemed kind of nervous... He hoped that things were going to turn out okay and she didn't have to deal with her bending being gone. She was better at waterbending than he was - she'd been teaching him, right? It had been a memory that hadn't made much sense until recently thanks to what he'd forgotten, but it was something important to him anyway.

"I believe in you, Katara," Aang said, echoing words that she'd said to him herself before. He smiled at Katara.

Katara also looked upto the night-time sky, noticing that the moon was about to be fully revealed. She turned to Aang and smiled back at him, nodding to his words. "Thank you. I'm glad you're here with me, Aang" she told the boy softly. She then led the way out to the lake, which wasn't too far away from the castle. She paused, stopping a few feet infront of the lake, when she heard a small ringing in her ears. She gently bit down on her lip, glancing back up at the sky. Her breathing hitched for a moment when she saw the moon; it was full, bright and .. somehow, she felt hope radiating from it's glow.

She took a few hesistant steps towards the lake, and closed her eyes. Her hands automatically reached up for her mother's necklace, reaching out for a bit of courage. It wasn't here with her...

But those blue eyes fell upon Aang again, and she realized, it was still with her in a way.Katara then moved into a graceful stance, moving her hands to pull a whip out from the lake. And this time, the water moved at her command. ".. Aang, look! It's back!" she grinned, and she allowed the water to fall back into the lake with a splash.

She rushed over to the Avatar and pulled him into another hug.

Aang followed Katara to the lake, where he stopped beside her, watching as Katara moved closer to the water. It was already starting to get brighter out here. Aang glanced back up at the sky - the moon was visible again. A smile spread across Aang's lips and he turned to face Katara, meeting her gaze for a moment when she looked at him. Hopefully this was going to work. He knew that Katara's waterbending was really important to her...

Aang's smile widened as he continued to watch Katara and the water in the lake obeyed her. "That's great, Katara!" he exclaimed, giving her an excited grin in return. "I'm glad it's back."

"Me too, Aang! Oh, waterbending, how I missed you.." she sighed contently and let go of Aang before she hurried back to the lake. She had an urge to just jump in and play, something which she hadn't done in (what felt like) a long time. But the night was cold, and it definitely wasn't a good idea. Katara grinned though, and did a few more waterbending moves, just to test her skill. Once she was happy, she looked back at Aang sheepishly, tilting her head towards the castle.

"Heheh. Sorry about that! Let's go back in and make sure things are okay in the castle now," she admitted and gave him a smile. She was excited about having her waterbending back, and even moreso, that she could finally help people again. If anyone needed her, she was confident again now.
