[Log] Leon and Inuyasha
Who: Leon and Inuyasha
What: CPVP interview
When: 3/16, 10AM.
Where: Lie-braer-eee!
Rating: PG
Inuyasha frowned, leaving his room in the non-traditional manner which he could manage very infrequently in Paradisa. For once, he was in natural half-demon form, the characteristic white hair, dog eared, amber-eyed look which clearly marked him as different. He landed, feeling the shock roll through his body and hearing his bones creak, before snorting and glowering as he stood. He hated this place, even more than he could accurately say. His love was here, but he almost wished she wasn't. Inuyasha hated being seen as weak, by no choice of their own.
So why was he even interested in seeing about this group? The honest side of himself would say his truth-dream showed him the importance of protecting those he cared for. Even numbering one, Inuyasha had the reluctant understanding of how precarious one man against the world really could be.
And despite himself and his heritage, he didn't enjoy watching people die. He came back through one of the castle doors, heading to the library. What was the name of the man he was to meet? Lion? Lean-on? L-something. Damned if Inuyasha remembered. Still, the suspect outside the library was the likely candidate. Time to be sociable. "Oi, you Leon?" Hopefully that was right.
10:00 AM. Leon leaned against the wall to the side of the entrance of the library, arms crossed and gloved fingers drumming against his arms. This was the second week of interviews after three days off to review with Selphie the first batch. So far, things were looking up. After they gathered enough people, they would have their first CPVC meeting, and actually start the program. He was a little stressed, and more than a little wired on his third cup of coffee, but he was the complete air of utter calm as he waited.
His eyes locked onto an approaching... dog? Thing. Something, who came up to him at 10:05 AM. He was getting much better at reading lips, so there was no pause between the question and his reply of, "Yeah. Inuyasha, right?"
Inuyasha nodded. He had nothing else to say, his arms crossed in his characteristic manner, so stood eyeing Leon. One point for interpersonal skills. The other man did seem a bit wired, and something about his manner was off, but Inuyasha didn't feel threatened and didn't really care. If he hadn't been using his journal as a dartboard when he'd gotten frustrated, he wouldn't have even known about this whole CPVC idea.
"Follow me," Leon said with a wave of his hand as he pushed himself off the wall and headed into the library. He trusted Inuyasha would follow him, and headed to the back parts of the library where the empty rooms had been converted into CPVC offices. He opened the one to the left--Selphie was using the right one, currently--and held it open for Inuyasha. His journal laid open on the desk--it transcribed interviews for him under a private filter incase he didn't understand something, and allowed him to take notes at the same time. Quite 'nifty', he would say. "Have a seat."
Inuyasha eyed the chair, and grumbled something which didn't quite have words. "I'd prefer to stand," he said gruffly, though the tone would be lost (not that Inuyasha knew). Both Kikyou and the dream-woman Kagome would have disapproved, but he wasn't used to the westernized style of everything, and he had a feeling Leon wouldn't appreciate him sitting on the table or floor, both which would impede various aspects of the interview process.
He was already feeling a bit caged in and edgy, though he hid it by digging his nails into the skin of his arm and attempting to look like he was asking for Leon's cooperation in allowing him to stand.
Leon rose an eyebrow but didn't comment, closing the door behind him. He himself took a seat on the edge of the desk--he didn't want to sit down all the way if Inuyasha stood, it made him feel vulnerable. He slid the journal close to him, placing a pen in the crease of the pages, then turned his attention to Inuyasha. "So, Inuyasha. Tell me a little about yourself. Where do you come from?" And why do you have animal ears?
Inuyasha's ears twitched. "Nippon," he stated, after a moment. "I've..." heard my dreams call it Japan, "Heard it called Japan, with something like the Sengoku tied to the timeframe." That was what his dream woman had said. Maybe it would make more sense to Leon than it did to Inuyasha.
Leon crossed his arms over his chest, leaning forward slightly in a show of interest. A lot of people had come from Japan, but none of the times so far had been much the same. "Tell me of your life in Japan."
Another twitch, only this time accompanied by a grunt. He was not inclined to talk about his past, though it seemed to be required by this... interview. "I fought for decades to survive alone, and then things changed." There! Unless he was pressed for more, that was a nice summation.
"So you would describe yourself as independent?" Leon prompted. Those twitching ears were really distracting.
Those twitching ears were facing forward, following the sound of Leon's voice for now. "Yes," he said curtly. "Mostly."
"How did things change?" Leon questioned while jotting down a note on the marjin of a journal page. Cloud-syndome?
A faint blush stained Inuyasha's cheeks as he growled and looked to the side. "I made mistakes, trusted people." Fell into things he shouldn't have, with Kikyou. Even in his dream, after... after being mostly-killed. Irritating, and confusing.
Leon underlined the note twice, and scribbled out the question mark. "In this program, you have to work with other people. Trust is important," he said calmly, looking at Inuyasha.
He turned back to meet Leon's gaze. "I know," he said calmly. Stating that he knew from, well, his dreams would only make him sound insane. "Part of trust is being earned. Part's given." It was the earned part Inuyasha was wary of - considering the betrayals in his life, it seemed he'd softened into trusting others initially too much, turning into the deeper trust that really hurt when it was betrayed.
Leon nodded approvingly, jotted down yet another note, then spoke. "Before coming to Paradisa, have you had any experience with murder, battles, investigation, or anything else you feel would help in working to improve Cair Paradisa's general safety?"
Inuyasha smirked, though it wasn't meant to be cocky. It was a family trait, and he didn't feel like laughing even if he was amused. "I've been hunted since I was born by demons who didn't take kindly to a half breed. I fight for and against people, even in my dreams." Or especially, given the lengthy, involved truth-dream which had given him Naraku's name. "Including hunting down the person behind the murder of... someone very important to me." Who was blessedly okay again, here. "I think that's a yes."
"Do you fight for revenge and out of anger? Or as a necessity?" Leon didn't touch the half breed subject yet, instead more focused on the type of personality Inuyasha posessed. So far, he seemed a bit on the hot tempered side, but not in a particularly alarming way.
"Necessity," he replied, though he knew himself to be honest. "Not to say I haven't been moved to violence out of anger when friends have been in danger." Hotheaded, indeed; cunning in battle, too, though realizing he no longer had the sword which had been such a part of his dreams... well, a man had fists, and a half demon had claws. "There were measures necessary where I am from not... needed, here."
Leon nodded. Sometimes, when friends were in danger, it brought it the strongest in you. "Tell me about the ears," he said after a pause. "The half breed; what that entails."
The subject was touchy for Inuyasha; his ears went back. "The only important thing has to deal with what happened when I came here. Part of being half of two different species means to have the capacity to become entirely one or the other." Damnit, why did he have to explain this to a stranger? Because he couldn't lie about it, especially not with... well... "At home, once a month I'd be regulated to full human status for the night. Here, there isn't any regulation." He wasn't even touching the idea of going fully demon.
Leon nodded, briefly scribbling down something in the journal. Something held back, but assuming irrelevant at this point. "Tell me about your fighting techniques."
One hand withdrew from his sleeves, cracking as he clenched it and unclenched it. "Hand to hand combat. Whatever is around." He thought for a moment. "Swords, especially." His own blood, if half-demon. He didn't feel that merited mention. His claws - they were particularly effective as well.
"Would you describe yourself as an offensive fighter?" he then asked.
"I'm more often attacked before I attack," was his careful answer.
Leon made a thoughtful noise. "So, why is it you want to join CPVC?"
Inuyasha cracked his knuckles. "I need to do something constructive." That answer was easy, at least.
"Constructive for youself or for the people of Cair Paradisa?" Silly Leon. Making questions harder then they need to be.
The half demon snorted. "I'm not altrustic, if that's what you're asking. I also don't want to see people hurt." Especially not Kikyou, but while he felt his.. conditions wouldn't let him personally guard her all the time, he could help with an effort which would roundaboutly help keep her safe as well.
That was worth this, wasn't it?
Leon studied Inuyasha silently for a few moments, hand held over the paper, then he nodded and circled something. "All right. That'll be all. I'll be in touch with you in a few days after reviewing this with the CPVC president."
He said nothing at first, then reverted to crossed arms and nodded his head just enough to be polite. "Later." He then excused himself, not one to waste time when he felt like he could go brood somewhere.
