[Logthread] Snow Wars - Kanda and Ravi
Who: Kanda and Ravi. (And Allen? >:D)
What: Fiiight. Of the snowball kind.
When: The snowball fight day. >>
Where: Outside.
Rating: PG-13 for some language?
The proposition of a snow battle did not really appeal to Kanda. His fingers were still a bit numb from building the snowmen and then massacring them. Really, had Ravi needed to be so dramatic about it? It was just snow.
Flexing his fingers a few times, he closed the book on his table and rose. Undoubtedly, by now the battle would be taking place, and if the Earl had been interested in causing any trouble... well, he would have done it by now, right? Maybe it was okay to relax for a moment. And teach that big-mouthed idiot a lesson.
Sighing a little, Kanda headed outside. Sure enough, there were random shouts and individuals he did not know running from one side to the other, flinging snow at one another. Stepping back, the swordsman avoided getting hit by a stray projectile of snow. Surely finding Ravi wouldn't be a problem, especially with that red hair. Unless he had taken Yukimura's advice and covered it.
In which case, Kanda was going to be very aggravated by the time he found Ravi.
Ravi crouched down and gathered up a pile of snow in his hands, pressing it together to form a snowball. It was still fresh, so that was good - it wasn't going to be hard ice, which wasn't so great for snowball fights. His fingers were starting to go a little numb, but he wasn't going to throw in the towel because of that.
So far, the free-for-all snowball war had been going nicely. But one Yuu Kanda still hadn't shown his pretty (and 'pretty' meant 'disgruntled, angry, irritated or other words to that effect' here) face at all yet. Ravi glanced around from his spot on the ground, keeping an eye out for the Japanese boy. (Following Yukimura's suggestion, he'd found a hat in an attempt to hide his hair at least for a little while.)
Yuu wasn't going to back out, right?
The snowman massacre didn't actually bother Ravi. It was just snow; he could always make more snowmen some other time and they would have melted sooner or later anyway. It was funny that Kanda had lashed out at them like that. And hey, better for the guy to take out his anger on snowmen than real people (that is, a certain few people), yeah?
But he was hoping that the other boy would turn up. This wasn't meant to be actual, serious revenge for the snowmen, either. Instead, it was more like a way to coax Kanda out here and into doing something other than avoiding everyone.
And speaking of Kanda...
Ravi's lips curved into a playful smile when he caught sight of Kanda, who had finally made his appearance. "Hey, Yuu, glad you could make it!" he called out, jumping to his feet and tossing his snowball into Kanda's direction.
... It seemed Ravi was the only one who could coax Kanda out into doing these sort of things. Or rather trick, because Kanda never went looking for him with the best of intentions. Stomping on the snowmen had felt satisfying and a good way to vent all of the unexplainable frustration he felt.
From being stuck here, for what had happened so far, for that tattoo... all of it. Sure, it was not the nicest thing to do, but... too bad. At least Rinali hadn't hit him over the head or anything. Yet.
The familiar, irritating, obnoxious voice was calling his name and Kanda turned that way, scowling. Big mistake. He was greeted with a face full of snow. "Idiot!"
Spluttering, he wiped his face and bent down to scoop up whatever snow he could and fling it back in retaliation.
Let the wars begin?
Ravi had expected Kanda to duck. When that didn't happen and the snowball hit the other boy right in the face, Ravi stopped for a moment and looked at Kanda, raising his eyebrows. "You gotta have faster reactions, Yuu," he remarked with a laugh before he hastily ducked himself to dodge the snow flying his way thanks to Kanda.
Yup, it was definitely on now.
"Not bad!" Ravi grinned, collecting more snow to throw back at Kanda.
"Shut up," Kanda replied, bending down to collect more snow. He seemed to prefer larger snowballs right now and less accurate than smaller ones. Though he might well change his technique later. He flung another ball in the direction of Ravi. Hitting him might take a while.
Why did people find this entertaining?
Scowl. However, seeing as he had given his consent and agreed to this, Kanda was not going to back out of this fight - until one of the two was down for good. Or got frostbite, whatever came first.
"Might wanna work on your technique a little, too," Ravi added cheerfully, scooping up more snow and quickly packing it down into a ball to fling at Kanda. Not that he had any real snowball fight technique himself, either, one that had been honed and perfected over years or anything like that. But he'd gotten one hit in, so he was winning - then again, that one probably didn't count, considering that it had caught Kanda by surprise. On the other hand, he should've been prepared from the moment he approached the battlefield, right?
Ravi moved back a couple of steps, trying to get further out of range of Kanda's snowball attacks, while still remaining close enough for him to be able to get his target with own snowballs.
"I don't need a snowball technique!" Kanda replied, looking disgruntled and annoyed as he ducked behind a large pile of snow, barely avoiding Ravi's snowball. He was only feeling aggravated by this thing. He hadn't managed to hit the other yet, though his snowballs were smaller and better packed now.
It just...
Moving out from the place he'd been ducking behind, he flung a snowball in Ravi's general direction.
Ravi settled for flashing Kanda a grin. Damn, that was too bad, none of his snowballs seemed like they were actually coming that close to hitting Yuu anymore, either. Kanda had managed to get behind a pile of snow that could act like a makeshift wall where he could take cover. Well, he couldn't stay there forever--
And it looked like he wasn't planning to. Just as Ravi bent down to pick up more snow, Kanda's snowball smacked him in the forehead and fell apart on impact. "Ow!" Ravi wiped snow out of his eye, but laughed. "Nice shot, Yuu. Here!" Another snowball went sailing through the air towards Kanda.
If Kanda had been anyone else, smacking Ravi with the snowball would have equalled the need for a small victory dance. However, since this was Kanda, he merely glared at the other with a bit of satisfaction. Just a bit. What was the big deal about this? Ravi seemed like he was enjoying himself. Kanda... thought this was stupid.
This time, he was ready for it and he dropped onto the floor to duck the snowball heading his way.
He resisted the urge to go 'HA' and instead scooped up some more snow. "This is such a waste of time!" He flung the snowball in Ravi's general direction again.
Ravi had a backup snowball in his other hand, so he tossed that at Kanda as soon as he saw another opening, leaning to the side to move out of the way when he saw that a snowball was coming towards him again, too.
Waste of time? Ravi chuckled and pointed at Kanda. "Hey, you didn't have to come out, if you really didn't want to, yeah?" He smiled at the other boy. "C'mon, you sure this isn't even just kinda fun?"
The snowball hit him on the shoulder and Kanda scowled. "No, not even kinda fun." He threw another badly aimed snowball at Ravi. "Not at all." Especially since he wasn't exactly doing very well. Of course he had to come out. "You said fight, I'm not going to run away from it." No matter how boring or annoying or whatever.
On the other hand, this was not really a fight. Now- shoving some snow down Ravi's back. That would be more fight-like.
Was Yuu even trying? It was like he wasn't making any effort to aim these snowballs right. Then again, he wasn't the kind of guy who'd want to risk losing, was he? So maybe he was just not the greatest snowball fight fighter around.
Ravi ducked and turned his head for a moment, watching the snowball Kanda had just thrown fly past him and crumble as it hit the ground. Glancing back at Kanda, he offered him another grin. "Then we gotta make this more fun," he said. "Add something to up the ante, how's that sound?" Immediately after he'd spoken those words, Ravi reached down and filled his cupped hands with snow again. He kept the snowball small and tossed it at Kanda almost straightaway. And repeat. Once, twice, three times.
No, he wasn't really trying. Somehow he didn't think throwing snowballs was a good way of fighting. Kanda's scowl deepened when the first snowball whacked him on the head again and he scurried off to the side, trying to avoid the small snowballs being thrown his way.
Damn smiling bastard.
Another snowball hit him and Kanda had it. He flung himself in Ravi's direction with the intention of tackling him into one of the small snow mountains around.
Ravi paused briefly - he could give Kanda a moment to recover and try to strike back - before he went to refill his snowball arsenal and continued the onslaught. But what happened next wasn't something that he'd seen coming.
One of his snowballs hit Kanda and then, a moment later, Ravi suddenly found himself being shoved into a pile of snow. Somewhere between that snowball hitting Kanda and the little trip into the mound of snow, Kanda had apparently decided to attack him by pouncing on him. "Whoa!" He yelped as he hit the cold surface (and it was pretty damn cold where it ended up down his shirt), then coughed, getting an accidental mouthful of snow.
Kanda sat himself up, shivering a little at the snow, but nothing deterred him as he grasped Ravi's shirt collar and pulled, using the move to shove snow down his back. A lot of snow. He had to look like a maniac and he was a little surprised no one else had attacked him to help out Ravi.
Guess he had kept his word.
Yes, now this was much better than throwing snowballs at Ravi. Kanda continued what he was doing, shoving as much snow as he could at the other.
"Shit--" Ravi gasped, eye going wide when it suddenly got even colder, a hell of a lot colder, now that Kanda was merrily (or viciously) shoving snow down his shirt and it was directly on his skin. "Y-Yuu!" He squirmed, still trying to get his bearings, then quickly reached up to grab Kanda's wrists in hopes of freeing his collar from the hand holding it without getting choked, as well as stopping the relentless assault of cold, wet snow coming his way.
This wasn't exactly what he'd had in mind when he'd suggested figuring out something to 'up the ante'. But if that was what Yuu wanted...
Ravi looked up at Kanda and moved to reverse their positions, planning to push Kanda into the snow in return now.
There was definite satisfaction when he heard Ravi swear and it only made Kanda shove more snow down the other's back. "Yes?" he answered in a calm tone. His hair was beginning to get in the way, so he paused to toss it back as Ravi's hand came to clasp his wrist.
Kanda scowled and let out a tiny growl of protest as he went sailing face down towards the snow as Ravi reversed their positions. He tasted snow and coughed, jerking his elbow back to hit his assailant.
A slight grunt of pain escaped from Ravi when Kanda's elbow hit him in the stomach while he was still bending over the other boy. Ow. Yuu had pointy, hard elbows. Recovering, however, he swiftly moved his hands to Kanda's shoulders with the intention of flipping him over to face him.
"Do I win?" Ravi grinned down at Kanda.
Kanda glared up at the other. "Not a snowball's chance in hell," he replied and grasped about for some free snow to throw at Ravi's face. No, he was not going to lose. However... all evidence seemed to be pointing to the contrary. God, he hated snow. He hated this place and most of all- he hated Ravi.
Idiot.
Well, that worked, too. They were just getting started, yeah? Ravi's grin widened and he stayed where he was, although he ducked out of the way to try to avoid the snow Kanda was throwing at his face.
"You sure, Yuu?" he asked, keeping his hands on Kanda's shoulders but sitting back a bit, his knees on either side of Kanda's legs. "What're you gonna do now?" He'd probably have to let go of him sooner or later. It wasn't like he wanted to keep pressing him into the snow for ages - it was pretty cold.
It was cold and a shudder ran down his spine, but Kanda continued glaring up at Ravi. Viciously. Lucky for him, he couldn't draw Mugen like this either. "Of course I am." He struggled against the other's grip- which was surprisingly strong- or not so, Kanda recalled.
"I guess I could bite you," he stated with a half-vicious smirk, and he probably would. Just like he'd said he would.
"Yeah? Seriously?" Ravi lifted his eyebrows, giving Kanda a curious look. What kind of threat was that? Yuu had to be kidding, right? (Or he had some kind of fixation with thinking about biting him.) Ravi chuckled and added, "I got teeth, too." As if to prove it, he showed them to Kanda in a wider grin, then loosened his grip on the other boy's shoulders a little. "Okay, guess we're still going with this till one of us goes down and stays down, huh?"
One of Ravi's hands scooped up some more snow. Maybe he'd stuff some down Kanda's back, too, just a little. It wasn't going to kill him.
Kanda rolled his eyes. No, he wasn't joking and a nasty bite was a good defence, right? Or something. His eyes followed the idiotic grin and he scowled. "I guess we are." He looked to the side, watching as Ravi scooped up more snow. His eyes widened- oh no, he wasn't... oh god-
He squirmed beneath the other, trying to break free and avoid the inevitable.
For the time being, Ravi kept his other hand clamped down on Kanda's shoulder and his legs around the other's, just to trap him where he was for a little longer. "Watch out, it's gonna be cold," he said 'helpfully', although the warning came a moment too late, as he was already slipping his handful of snow into Kanda's shirt. The whole 'an eye for an eye' idea? Not really; Ravi hadn't shoved that much snow down there.
Then he let go of Kanda and sat back on his heels, offering the other boy his hand to help him up, too. "Let's go, Yuu, it's not over yet."
Kanda scowled and shuddered as he felt the snow being shoved down his back. He seemed rather passive when Ravi moved and offered his hand. The Japanese exorcist blinked, then grabbed Ravi's hand in a rather firm, angry grip. "No, it's not over." However, instead of standing up, he yanked Ravi against him, using his free hand to smash some snow onto the other's head.
Momentarily thrown off-balance by being tugged towards Kanda, Ravi went flying forward and smacking into the other boy, landing half on top of him. His free hand automatically came up to stop him from falling flat on his face - it headed for Kanda's shoulder again.
Pushing himself up, Ravi shook off the snow, blinking a couple of times, and gave Kanda a funny look. A second later, he smiled and mirrored Kanda's action, pushing a good amount of snow onto Kanda's head and patting the pile.
This wasn't very mature or dignified. Much less with the way Ravi was patting the pile of snow on his head. Kanda blinked, surprise on his features before it returned to being a rather fierce scowl. "Stop that-" he swatted at Ravi's hand, "Don't pat it." It wasn't like making mud cakes... or something.
The second hand was busy gathering more snow to use against the other.
Ravi snickered. "But it looks like a hat, Yuu," he remarked. Leaving it there probably wasn't a good idea, though. It was already starting to melt a bit and get Kanda's hair damp. Ravi brushed the snow off and pulled his hand away to stick it, along with his other one, back into the snow surrounding him and Kanda to pick up more 'ammo'. His fingers were starting to feel pretty numb by now and the snow that had wound up down his shirt had melted into icy water, but, like both he and Kanda had said only moments ago, this wasn't over yet.
"Yes, it would to you," Kanda replied grouchily as Ravi brushed off the snow. It was too late anyway, his hair was damp, but Kanda wasn't too bothered by that at the moment. The icy water beneath his shirt was more of a discomfort - although Ravi had been less vicious. Ignoring the definite numbness that had set in his fingers, he brought his hand up to smack Ravi with a snow fist.
Just about to finish gathering enough snow, Ravi didn't get much of a chance to move out of the way of Kanda's latest attack. Kanda's fist collided with his head. He grimaced, dropping some of the snow as he automatically brought his hand up to rub the side of his face. Yuu was pretty persistent, huh.
Ravi wasn't about to give up, either, though. He grabbed another handful of snow and flicked it at Kanda. "Having fun, Yuu?" he asked lightly, managing to form the words inbetween the chattering his teeth were now doing - the wet shirt was beginning to make him notice the cold more.
Kanda felt the snow smack his face and growled, lifting one hand to grasp Ravi's shoulder and lift himself up a little. "No, this isn't fun," he replied, stopping his attack for a moment. Not only was he not enjoying himself but Ravi was quite clearly wiping the snow with him. Literally and figuratively. It pissed him off.
This was quite childish, rolling about in the snow like two kids instead of behaving like adults. Then again, Kanda had never behaved like a normal kid nor had his childhood been anywhere near normal.
Ravi paused at that himself, lowering his hand. He tilted his head to one side and studied Kanda's expression (which looked just as annoyed as it always seemed to do). His hat had fallen off and landed on the ground somewhere by now, so he raked his fingers through his hair and shrugged. "Why'd you come out for it, Yuu?" He smiled at the other boy, sitting up properly and moving off Kanda's legs. This was starting to get sort of one-sided - both when it came to the snow attacks and where having fun was concerned, right?
"I said I would." It was as simple as that. He continued glaring at Ravi even as the other boy sat up and moved off his legs. Surely Ravi didn't expect him to go rampant in the snow and begin giggling like other people around them? Kanda just couldn't see himself waving his arms around and running up and down. Instead he stared at Ravi some more, expectantly. But he was getting kind of cold now, so he might head back inside soon and change clothing... and dry his hair. Again.
Ravi lifted his eyebrows, letting his hand drop to land on the back of his neck. His other hand came up to join it, fingers threading together. "Yeah? But you didn't have to do it, Yuu, if you got no reason for being out here," he pointed out. If it was a waste of time, why bother being around for it, right? Wasn't that how Kanda's mind usually worked? Unless he'd actually been planning to come out here to make use of Mugen when he got the chance...
Giving another shrug, Ravi unlaced his fingers and suddenly reached over to flick Kanda's ponytail - there was still snow stuck to his hair.
"Well, I did. I wasn't going to back away from a fight." Simple as that. Or at least that was the justification Kanda was using.
Kanda started a bit when Ravi reached over to flick his ponytail. ... Ravi seemed to like his hair. Always, right? Or something like that was the thought that crossed Kanda's mind for a brief moment. He leaned back out of the other's reach though, feeling the uncomfortable cold seeping through his wet clothing.
Ravi grinned. "That's what I figured." He pulled his hand away and stood, patting snow off his legs. "Looks like I won it, though, yeah?" Kanda had been the one to stay down on the ground the longest, after all, and he'd stopped throwing any snow, so maybe that was the end of their battle. It wasn't a decisive victory, maybe, but it did look like it was over now. Yuu really didn't think any of it had been fun? That was too bad. But, well, it made sense.
Tugging on his shirt a little, Ravi tried to adjust it so it wasn't clinging to his skin anymore. It didn't seem to want to work, so he placed his hands in his pockets and glanced back at Kanda, watching the other boy. "Not bad, Yuu," he added.
Kanda glared in reply as he rose, brushing his pants and shirt. The snow was still clinging on in most places and he mentally cursed it for being uncooperative. He ought to have worn his coat when coming here, but... it didn't seem like an appropriate thing to have a snowball war in his exorcist uniform.
It was pretty cold, just standing here like this, so maybe the smart thing to do would be to call this the official end to their snowball fight and get into some dry clothes. Ravi had to laugh, though. "C'mon, Yuu, it's just snow, right? You're gonna be dry and warm in no time, once you get outta those things and into something else." He took one of his hands out of his pocket and gave Kanda's shoulder a cheerful pat.
"So long as it's not a dress," Kanda replied, looking away from Ravi, then back at him as he felt the cheerful pat. Glare. He let it slide though as he looked away at the ongoing action around them, then down at his fingers. They were numb and red-looking. He wriggled them.
"You're still up for that training later, yes?" Kanda glanced up and his look was less than innocent. Sure, Ravi won this round, but next round... ah... yes.
"Well, you still got that dress, not me," Ravi replied casually. He smiled at Kanda and withdrew his hand. His gaze wandered around for a moment as well, first to watch the rest of the snowball war still going on - hey, this thing had turned into a one-on-one battle between them after all - then to travel towards Kanda's hands, following the movements of his fingers, and finally back up to look at the other boy again.
Ravi's smile grew. "'Course. Name me the time and place and count on me being there, Yuu." Training, huh? Hadn't Kanda said that they'd trained together before? They had to be pretty evenly matched.
He twitched. It was true, so he couldn't really say anything. Kanda had just tucked away the dress in his closet, he didn't know what to do with it. Well- "I'm keeping it so I can bury you in it, idiot," he replied, pursing his lips. "I've not forgotten." And maybe, just maybe he didn't think the dress had been so awful. As long as it was not on him.
"A few minutes, then? In front of the library. I have to change out of these and so should you." And with that, Kanda began the tenuous path to the door among the snowball war.
Ravi laughed. "Not sure if I can pull off that look, Yuu," he remarked. He wasn't going to take the whole 'I'm going to bury you in that dress' thing too seriously - it couldn't be dead serious, right? Then again... he had no way of knowing for sure. Maybe Kanda meant every word of that threat. Ravi didn't really want to end up a corpse in a pretty dress (or any kind of corpse, for that matter).
"Okay, got it, boss," he said, the words accompanied by the obligatory salute to go with them. Yeah, getting changed into some dry clothes first was a good plan.
There were still snowballs flying around. Another grin appeared on Ravi's lips. "Run and we're probably gonna make it." He reached for Kanda's arm to grab it and took off, heading for the door back inside.
Kanda really wished he'd stop calling him that. How come he recalled that anyway? Or was it just something in his subconscious? He wondered how this place worked; speaking with Komui had only made him more suspicious about this whole place in general and-
-the look on his face must have been priceless as he felt Ravi snatch his arm and head for the door - running - Kanda would have sputtered something mean, but he was too busy running and trying to duck the snowballs.
... This idiot was going to be his death.

[Tag: Allen?]

It had started out a lot of fun, it was him and Ravi against everyone else in a good natured way. Allen had quickly discovered he wasn't that bad at throwing snowballs (he could even switch off arms when one got tired!), and with his white hair it was slightly harder for other people to get direct hits on him. And with Ravi's skills with snowballs, they made a very good team!
But then somehow, possibly when Allen was making more snowballs, Ravi had disappeared in that way only the red-head could do. Quickly and to a complete mystery to Allen. Unfortunately, it seems that he had been the last one to notice his partner's disappearance. For the next thing he heard were people shouting out to get the scrawny (scrawny??) white haired kid because he was on his own now, and easy to take out. This was followed by a rain of snowballs all coming down on him. Which would of been okay, if it hadn't been for the iceballs that were mingled among them.
Allen could of sworn he had been unconcious for a full minute when one manage to find his head.
Now he was very much crouching for his life behind a single sad wall of snow. His exorcist jacket was covered in so many snowballs it was hard to recongize. He knew the only way he could get out of this was to flee, but the moment he did he would once again get pelted until unconcious again. He also didn't like the idea of losing. So he did the only thing that made sense to him in his head.
"I think I like the Akuma better!" he said to himself as he packed another snowball and threw it over the wall, not really watching where it went because he quickly dived behind the wall. Maybe it would hit someone!

That was until-
...the snowball hit him on the head and Kanda jerked to a stop pulling Ravi too.
"Who did that?!"

Then Ravi stumbled, finding himself being yanked back. "What the--" He turned his head to stare at Kanda and noticed the traces of the unexpected snowball that had hit the other boy in the head. "You see where it came from, Yuu?" Ravi threw a glance around.
There was a makeshift wall made of snow not too far away. Maybe someone was hiding behind it.
Well... Hey, why not, right? Ravi crouched down and scooped up a handful of snow, then crept along the ground on his hands and knees to make his way towards the wall. Jumping back up, he was about to smash his snowball down, when he saw just who was on the other side of that wall and stopped.
"Allen?"

Then he heard his name, and looked up from his crouching position. Standing above him looking down was Ravi. Allen couldn't help but smile out of sheer relief from seeing the red-head. Maybe this nightmare was almost over. "Ravi! I'm glad to see you again!"

Kanda appeared behind Ravi, glaring daggers down at the white-haired exorcist.
"Sprout."
And then without warning- or caring that he was interrupting the conversation, flung the snow in his hand at Allen.

Ravi was about to reply and voice that thought, when he heard Kanda right behind him and then, a second later, saw the snow flying past his head. Automatically, he jumped out of the way, leaving the path completely clear.
Snowball war take two? Ravi wondered whether to side with Allen or just try to stay on neutral ground to keep himself from getting pelted with any more snow from either Kanda or Allen.

And that look of surprised turned into shock and horror when he threw a snowball at Allen, hitting him right in the face. He yelped from the pain of impact of a close range snowball and the feeling of the icy cold snow slamming against his bare skin.
"K-Kanda!" he shouted as he wiped the snow out of his face. "What was that for?!" Allen was pretty sure he hadn't done anything to anger the exorcist. At least, he wasn't aware of anything he had done. But with Kanda, you could never know for sure.

"You know this is your fault." he added as an after thought.
His fingers were beginning to feel stiff and frozen. God, this whole thing pissed him off. Someone was going to die by being buried in snow. Now who should go first? The idiot or the sprout?

The flying snow, courtesy of Kanda, had just hit Allen right in the face. Ravi stared at Allen. Well, he was taking the sudden attack pretty well, at least. But from the sound of it, things could start getting ugly... Ravi glanced at Kanda and chuckled somewhat uneasily, catching the glare. "Hey, it's all meant to be just for fun, Yuu," he pointed out. "Sometimes you're gonna get a snowball in the face and sometimes you're gonna get to smack someone else with one, yeah?"
And none of that hurt (too much), as long as nothing sharp and pointy got involved.
