There's no records at all of Timothy or...even the orphanage. It's as though they never existed.

I suppose it was too much to hope for, but...at least I tried.

[Allen is sitting outside a cafe, about a block away from the hospital he's been volunteering at, enjoying his lunch break with...well, many plates of food. There's a cell phone (that is strangely gold in color..) sitting on the table, in case he receives any calls to head back. Mostly he just seems to be enjoying himself. ]

I wonder how long this world change will last...

Do you always do what you're told?

No, but the hospital is understaffed as it is without you hiding away in a patient's room watching television.

[He glances at French Coma Guy.]

I'm giving him therapy.

...He's in a coma, Dr. House.

And he's less of a human and lost his right to health care because of that? I'm disappointed in you, Walker. In your quest to save everyone, you can't segregate people into the deserving awake and screaming and the undeserving comatose souls who do nothing for society. That's just wrong.

And using his bed, his resting spot, as a table for your food isn't?

[Stuffing himself with fries.]

Gofto eat.[He swallows.] Not everyone gets their own feeding tube.

[He pulls French Coma Guy's covers down and his shirt up to show off the gastric tube feeding into his abdomen.He grabs the slender tubing and holds it up for maximum effect.]

Been to Pediatrics yet?

[He rolls his eyes; THATS SO BEYOND YOUR HYPOCRITICAL POINT]

Why would I have gone down to Pediatrics? You wouldn't hide amongst sick children.

Then you wouldn't have seen the difference between their feeding tubes and this one and an entire lesson is rendered pointless.

[Grabs Slushie. Sluuuuuurp.]

First you're saying you're giving the man therapy, and now it's a lesson about feeding tubes?

[His phone is beeping with another text, another urgent plea for help down in the clinic]

I can teach while giving therapy. It's called multitasking.

[His phone vibrates. He ignores it.]

[He sits down in a chair against the wall]

Then I suppose I can learn about therapy for coma patients now.

Brain's like a muscle. It needs regular exercise or it atrophies. Like yours.

[He nods to the television.]

Theories say comatose patients can still hear. Even if they don't register on a conscious level, the brain is still working to make sense out of noise. Like sounds, [He holds up a cheeseburger.] smells are registered by the temporal lobe. That's one of four lobes being activated just because of this. Or two actually considering there's one on each hemisphere. If you want to get further into it, smell and sound are two senses highly linked to primitive brain functions. So I help maintain nervous connections French Coma Guy will appreciate if he ever wakes up and take my lunch break at the same time.

[House: mixing fact with bullshit seamlessly since God knows when]

That's very interesting, but hasn't your lunch break lasted since you came in this morning?

I felt bad for him. No visitors.

[He sighs and rubs his forehead; muttering]

I'm getting a headache. Maybe one of the other doctors will allow me to shadow them for the day.

[One the one hand, he would have peace again. On the other, his ego does not appreciate this other doctor business. :|

His phone starts vibrating again and he tosses it to Allen. He grabs a handful of fries.]

Tell them I'm busy.

[He'll catch the phone and look at it, weighing his options. It would be right for the staff to know where he was, on the other hand, ratting him out might make Allen pay for that later down the line. While the hospital staff can only make him pay for any lies until they go back to the castle..]

[After this pause, he pulls out his own phone and slowly types "Sorry, he's busy with a distressed patient" and shoves his phone back in his pocket.]

[He can guess as to the reason why Allen didn't sell him out. That it's self-serving don't phase him in the slightest. He bends down to grab a satchel near his feet and pull out a portable iPod boom-box, with iPod already attached. Setting it on the bed, he switches the television off and turns the iPod on. The room is filled with the sound of a heartbeat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDg7GDpR1RE). That done, he leans back in his chair again.]

Sound normal to you?

Yes, it does.

[He selects another audio file. Again normal sinus rhythm fills the room, except after the first lub-dub, the second dub splits (http://www.wilkes.med.ucla.edu/SplitS2main.htm), producing three sounds. The next beat is normal again. On the fourth beat, the same splitting occurs on the last sound heard. And so on.]

How about now?

[A long pause as he listens ]

It sounds a bit different but...it as though there's two different beats...?
