It appears I won't be making it back tonight.  Due to an incident I will be staying at Saint-Pierre Infirmerie for the night.  But there is no need to worry.

[A few minutes later, after getting his injury treated and resigning himself to spending the night at the hospital,  Shinichi returns to the journal and begins to dictate a few further thoughts.]

I don't suppose anyone at the hospital has any spare books I could borrow.

It's not a big deal! [Ran tried to shrug it off as something insignificant. But strawberry cake is what they'd eat if it were Christmas Eve back home isn't it?]

We...we had several left-over, and we can't sell them tomorrow...

[As though it were some hazardous item, Ran set the wrapped package beside Shinichi on the bed and stepped back.]

Hm? [Ran had her eyes fixed on the cake in its plain white box and furoshiki wrapping. She looked up to Shinichi and blushed when she saw him smiling at her.]

Wh-what kind of thing? Holidays?

"Aaa, something like that." He twists and starts to get out of the bed.

Ran hops forward, putting her hands on Shinichi's shoulders to still him. "Don't! You need to be resting, don't you?!"
