If I don't concentrate, I slip into fluent French.

[Wait a moment-] Human? Okay, that's even crazier. I miss them a little, yeah but I'm holding up fine.

Mocking you? Someone studying for a degree in Paris has no time to mock.

Seems like some are able to switch between the two. Some are stuck in French. When this castle is done messing with us, I'd like to know.

100% human. I went for a run this morning. [ Not fun. ] Good. Where did you end up?

You're in school? What are you studying? Boyfriend-ology?

Apparently I'm studying law. [ It is a shock to her. She hasn't even thought this far ahead in her life. ] What kind of model are you, anyway? Hands? Feet? Hair?

[ Stefan pauses. ]

Hair -- but, anything they need me for. And I'm apparently not... catalogue.

[ He takes this in. She's confirmed his suspicions. What does he do with this. He thinks he's asked because this means Katherine is less of a threat. But, Katherine's always a threat. What to even reply. ]

You never forget what it's like to be human... [ No, he doesn't need to do this. He shouldn't have even reached out. He got his answer. In a way, talking to Elena about this... she wouldn't understand. Questions only and questions that will help him keep tabs on her. ]

Did you have a built-in profession waiting for you?

[ 1 Elena, 0 Stefan. In her opinion, anyway. Stefan being a model gives him 10 points. ]

It may have been five hundred years ago for me, Stefan, but no, you don't forget easily. [She will not be discussing anything she's feeling right now.]

I have an apartment, a roommate, and employment. I'm a contributing member of this Parisian society.

What year are you? Do you live in a dorm? Do you have a roommate?

I don't know. [ He gives the journal a look. ] If the next word that comes out of your mouth is "smizing..."

[ He doesn't expect her to. ]

[ Now, how are those homicidal tendencies? ]

French is now my first language. Which is strange enough. This is the first time I've experienced something like this in the castle. Apparently, this isn't the first time it's happened.

[ Why is he still talking? At least he stopped pausing. ]

Thank you, Stefan. [Is she being... nice?]

French is a beautiful language, I'm sure you'll actually enjoy rolling words off of your tongue like: Où puis-je acheter gel pour les cheveux?

[It's almost sad that this is the first time he's gotten to speak with Katherine as a human. She's had so many years of hiding and distrust that it definitely removes a lot of the hope she once had. There's still that light bit of playfulness, but it's guarded.]

First year. I do - I spent last night in my dorm - but I haven't met my roommate yet. Which is a bit weird, but we woke up in Paris. I doubt anything gets weirder than that.

[ Stefan being a model doesn't even come close to weird. She grins. I was going to say fierce.

[ He's playing nice. She should, too. :l. ]

And likewise, Katherine. Oh, avez-vous un frère?

[ Below the belt but there's the part of him that hates her. He sees her as manipulative. He never loved her. She compelled him to love her. That's how he sleeps at night. Just because she's human... It doesn't mean she's changed.

But, her being a newly turned human -- he can relate. ]

[ ooc: Two things. One, it's sad I had to babelfish that because I visited my high school French class today. Two, I legit laughed so incredibly hard when it did translate. You win the internet. ]

Be careful. I wouldn't be surprised if we all woke up on a cruise ship again. [ Which, he now remembers. He lied to Katherine. Hm. But, that was different? Maybe not. Huh. Either way, he's also talking to Katherine and -- that's... not going to come out right now. Because they're being light and playful. ]

I tried. I tried watching it. [ While he read. ] They're all vapid. [ Is that what you think of him, Elena? ]

Guess the castle can't really keep it the same for everyone. [A sigh.] I wish this was the real Paris; I've never been abroad before.

Must have tired you out after a while. [She remarks dryly.] A tiny apartment not so far away from where I work.

In a lot of ways, it is... [ He sighs, too. ] If you're free tomorrow afternoon, I could give you a tour. I passed through here a few decades back. It's a beautiful city.

Yeah. There's a lot to remember about being human. Stuff you never forget. Heaving after a mile long run is something I blocked out. [ Sympathetic tilt of the head. ] Where do you work?

[She... is being nice. So she'll just skip over his pathetic apology and return to the friendly banter.]

Mmmm, you know I haven't run into that problem yet. It seems they don't make siblings like they used to.

[You can believe whatever you wish, Stefan. It's true that his love might have left after he learned the truth if she hadn't compelled him - but she sees who he's chosen now, and as of late (from her perspective back home) he's been a bit more grateful that she's around. A bit.]
