[Over the past few days, York's been trying to keep calm. Kat's name had disappeared from the room she and Noble-Six had shared, and he's scoured the floors at least three or four times and made several filtered entries to her. Wash was being unresponsive as well--his nameplate was still there, thank God--but even York couldn't pick the lock. So today he's pounding on the door in the third floor hallway. Naturally, he doesn't seem to notice or care that his journal has opened.]

God dammit Wash, open up or I'll break the damn door down!

[York snorts in light amusement. Yeah, he went on a field mission a day before he was supposed to be released before, and he'd do it again.]

Let me guess. We're not patient enough to take bed rest.

[Carson sighs] Even being the CMO didn't make that man lie down.

[doctors have special authority in regards to military. For medical matters, they outrank everyone.]

We have two modes. Action and waiting for action. The longer we stay in number two, the more twitchy we get for number one.

Well, it makes it harder for the people who want to make sure you stay on one to help.

Oh, I didn't say it was logical. Just that that's what we like.

[He grins under his helmet.]

[A laugh] I'll be sure to.

[Then a pause] Uh, you wouldn't, by any chance...

[He's serious now] Know where I can go to do some military training, do you?

You want to start at the shooting range. Look for someone with the skills you want to learn.

[He nods] I want to keep up on my training. Never know when you might need a field medic.

Best kind of medic, if you ask me.

[Carson laughs at this] Aye, I guess it would be. I'll just warn you, that I expect no mucking about when we're in Theatre.

Course not. I've been in action too many times to do anything stupid. You do stupid things, you don't make it out.

Good to hear. I'm sure we'll get along wonderfully.

Soon as this damn door breaks down, anyway.

Well, I don't think there's anything we can do at the moment...

Yeah. [He sounds slightly irritated.] Probably just have to wait it out.

Well, what else is there to do around here?

Oh, library, game room, get a job in town, learn how to cook something new, build something, all kinds of things.
