Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64?
[As night falls, silhouetting the castle in shadow, a tiny form can be found standing on the path outside. Mouth agape, she's got her head tilted back as she stares in wide-eyed wonder at the building in front of her. Clutched in her hands, a forgotten book (which, unbeknownst to her, happens to be her journal) dangles open, pages swinging in her careless grip.]
Woah...
[someone's not in Tyson, anymore.]
[Loss start! Feel free to find her outside the castle, bug her over the journals or, if you'd prefer, find her once she starts exploring. Because she won't stand still for long]

Great. More children. That's what this place needs.

But she's well aware of people around her. It's a skill that, even know, she's carefully cultivated. Best to know when the boys were home and Mama was in a hurry and would get mad at her being underfoot.
What gets her to stare isn't him being there. It's his suit. Moneyed people were even less common than castles, really, and she blinks blue eyes at him as she tries to figure out how she's ended up in a story...like the ones she heard on the radio programs that Mama would sometimes turn on.
Castles and suits and magic...her eyes narrow slightly as she looks at him a little harder. Then up at the building. Then back to him. A small seed of an idea might have settled in place] Is this your castle?

Despite many allegations to the contrary, no. I'm stuck here just as everyone else.
You're new, I take it.
[He couldn't shake the feeling he knew her. It wasn't something he got from faces, of course, but by souls. Demons have a good memory for souls. Helps with long-term corruption and all that. But this was young and new and a bit...off. He couldn't place it]

Very odd.
The castle might have thrown her, but when she realizes there's another presence, she turns to look...and doesn't even blink. He's huge, compared to her, his red eyes level with hers, but she simply holds out her hand as if he was one of the neighborhood dogs] Puppy!

What's a kid like you doing outside this late at night?

There's a bit of wariness...but certainly not as much as there probably should have been] I was playin'.
[Which...is entirely true. And doesn't explain at all how she ended up here]

Hello.
[her lips press together a moment, as if thinking. Or maybe just chasing away the distraction of the immense castle] I'm Jillian.

Nooo.
[but to his credit, he recovers remarkably fast, crouching down to offer her a hand] Well, it's an absolute pleasure to meet you, Jillian! I'm the Doctor.
