18th Death

[written down like usual.]

If you're not sure what to do today, what do you do? I'd like some....[what was that word?] suggestions. Help? Something like that.

[a long pause then Dextera writes a note for himself.]

[it takes a minute for him to figure it out but eventually he manages to get himself straighten up in the saddle.

...it's high up here Ashura. just so you know.]

_{[He smiles and guides Dextera's foot into the stirrup, adjusts it for him and pats his ankle.]}

Keep your heels pointed down and grip the reigns. I promise you will not fall, so just relax.

_{[He keeps hold of the lead, so the mare cannot real go anywhere, and she is to docile and good natured to try anything anyways.]}

[Dextera reaches for the reigns, feeling the material under his fingers and does what he's told with his feet. he's still a little nervous but the fact that the horse wasn't moving on its own yet is helping.]

All right, we are going to start...

_{[He clinks his tongue and moves forward, the horse placidly plodding along beside him.]}

[gripping the reigns a bit tighter, he keeps his eyes on the ground and hopes he doesn't fall off.]

Hehe, it is all right Dextera. Nothing will happen. Hold your head up for balance and look around.

_{[He smiles as he leads the mare around, keeping to a sedate walk, the mare seeming happy with this arrangement, able to snag a few sweet flowers on the way.]}

[it's a while before he relaxes completely but when he does, Dextera is struck by how much fun this actually is when calm. it's...really nice up here.]

Do you like it?

_{[He looks up at him, smiling as he turns the mare to head back down the paddock line.]}

[Dextera nods, finally smiling a bit more wider than usual. there was something oddly fun in doing this. a new experience maybe? the mute had to wonder if anyone in his world tried this before.]

_{[Ashura continues walking, heading for the field, hardly minding the exercise himself and the mare does not mind some sweet, tall grasses to snag as she walks.]}

If you learn to ride yourself, we could go riding together. I might be able to convince Felix to come as well.

[he tilts his head slightly. would that be okay?]

I like riding, Dextera. And there are ways to keep you safe so long as an experienced rider is around.

[well if it's not a problem, then he'd like to try this more.]

_{[He seems to see this in the other's face and smiles back at him, patting his leg as once more he turns the mare.]}

Perhaps if we can make some sort of small arena I can let you try it on your own.

[that made sense. if he had a place to practice, then he could become 'good' at this. it'd be nice to have something like that.]

I think I shall see on getting that done soon - perhaps with a roof so the snow will not make it impossible to ride, you think?

[Dextera can't help another confused look. what's snow?]

Have you never seen snow?

[he shakes his head. it was always warm in the Outside World.]

Well, you shall be in for a treat come the full winter.

[really? he'd honestly like to see that. won'der what it looks like.]

It is a beautiful sight, fresh snow. When I first saw it... well... I never wanted to forget it.

[he pauses and then tries tracing some words on the back of the horse's neck.]

Look like?

A white blanket that covers the land.

[that...brings up a lot of weird mental images. mostly a large blanket really covering everything.]
