One Meatbun -dictated-

[There's some fumbling, and then the journal opens to reveal the voice of a very young boy, trying to sound brave but failing.]

Um... can anyone hear me?

My name's Goku. I fell down and now I can’t find Konzen anywhere. People were tryin' t'catch us and I'm real worried. He’s real tall and gots hair like the sun. He jumped down after me when I fell, an'I don’t want him t'get hurt.

Ken-nii-san and Ten-chan should still be on the stairs, but I can't find those either! Just this thing that I heard sounds from.

I ain't scared or anythin'... but they promised t'stay with me. Really, really promised. If yer a nice person that ain't gonna kill us, can y'help me find them?

Please?

[People around the castle might find a small boy hiding behind the nearest couch, wearing a way too big button-shirt and chains around his wrists and ankles.]

[He shrugs, scratching the back of one ankle with his other foot. There were chains there, too, and one around his neck.]

I had ta. They put them on when they took me t'heaven. I guess they were kinda afraid of me.

[He eyes the other chains distastefully but there's nothing he can do about the one around his neck. He can't melt it off without hitting something...important.]

They were afraid?

[His eyebrows raise. Goku hardly looked threatening, but then again, so does his daughter and she's one of the most powerful beings in his universe.]

Yeah. 'Cuz I have golden eyes an' they say I'm a heretic.

[He shrugs, pulling the too-big shirt closer around himself like a blanket. It still smelled like Ten-chan's cigarettes and old books.]

An' then I did somethin' bad... but I don't remember what or why. So we had t'run away from Heaven.

[He looks at Goku sadly for a moment patting his head.]

Come on, let's go find your room.

[He holds out his hand again before he turns to head for the stairs.]

[He actually smiles a little when his head is patted and then nods.]

Okay. I really have my own room? 'Cuz I always slept with Konzen.

Yep, your own room. It should have your name on the door and everything.

[They reach the second floor and Apollo starts looking at all the doors.]

Do you know how to read your name? Maybe you can help me out.

Yeah! It was t'first thing I learned when Konzen gave me a name.

[He peers closely at the doors, a bit too short to see the text.]

[Apollo notices and reaches down to lift him up on his shoulders.]

You look at the doors on the left and I'll take the right, okay?

[Goku giggles at that, holding on as much as he can. He's still a bit heavy with his ankle chains and the neck chain, but it shouldn't be a problem for superheroes.]

Okay!

[He happily looks at the doors, until he finds his name on one and points at it.]

It's there! It says Goku!

[He looks over and moves towards the door he's pointing at.]

Good eye.

[He gently sets Goku back down and opens the door.]

Well, here we are. Your new home for the moment anyways. If you need anything my room is right down there. Okay?

[He points to a door across the hall and about three door down.]

[The reaches up and opens the door, peeking inside.]

...I haven't slept alone in a real long time. What am I gonna do if somethin' happens?

[Work the daddying, Apollo, or you'll have a monkey outside your door every night.]

Nothing is going to happen. I'm just right down the hall.

[He walks into the room and opens the closet and looks under the bed.]

See? There's nothing in here but you and me.

[Following Apollo inside, Goku climbs into the bed and sits on it. It was nice and soft and the pillow was fluffy.]

I like it. It's nice.

And it's really comfortable.

[He pulls the blankets down so Goku can slide under the covers.]

You should get some rest. I'm sure it's been a long day for you.

[He slides down under the covers and sighs.]

What if the mean people come?

They wouldn't dare.

[He pauses by the door.]

Would you like me to stay until you fall asleep?

[He looks up at Apollo and nods.]

Please?

Alright.

[He sits down at the foot of the bed.]

Get some sleep.

[Tensed as the boy is, it takes him a while to relax enough to close his eyes and curl up like a little puppy under the covers.

Finally he sighs and seems to doze off a little, trying his best to not be scared.]

[True to his word, Apollo sits there until he's sure Goku is fast asleep and then slowly gets up and slips out the door.]
