♐ fifty-sixth shot
[Oliver is scratching his head. You can't tell that over the journal, but he's been doing it for a while. No, he doesn't have lice... just a puzzlement.]
Has anyone seen a dinosaur around? [Because, now that he thinks about it... Sansa didn't show up after the pirates thing.]
She's small-ish, likes plants... actually knows her name is Sansa. [Brains the size of walnuts, suuure.]
[Fred]
Don't worry, this is non-dinosaur related. I realized that we never got a chance to talk details about the project idea I had for you.
What with all the people showing up and leaving, and then pirate ships...
If you've got some time, I've got a project.

Oliver]
I'm on my way, then.
[It's a bit to get there, but soon enough she's standing in Oliver's hallway and knocking on his door]
The Hallway. In the Tower. On the Landing...
Hey, Fred. [He steps into the hallway and across the way to the door opposite his.]
We're going right here.

[The greeting is light and friendly with a healthy dash of curious. If she's not completely herself after the past few weeks, Fred is doing her best to get back there]
no subject
You're curious, aren't you. [It's said like it's fact, but he still crosses the hallway and moves to swipe his keycard and enter in his passcode, letting the door unlock and open.]
Right this way. [He gestures toward the door.]

Still, Fred follows him in to the room]

So, back home I have ... Watchtower. It watches over almost all of Metropolis and is a network that connects all the other hero-types that I work with across the world. Bio-metrics, emails, security-cameras - everything.
Here... it's a lot less high-tech. But, there's other parties that take the high-tech route. I've been more into the after the fact information gathering. I still patrol... [he gives her a look] In costume.
no subject
There's only one thing that catches her off guard]
...costume?
no subject
Yeah. Masked vigilante was the loose term, but I actually came forward recently. I go by Green Arrow... because I use arrows and I wear green.
It ... works, but yeah, costume.
[he exhales and folds his arms across his chest] Regardless, the lock on the door - in those times when the building opts to power-down, that lock means it's not exactly easy to access this room.
no subject
You'll have to show me sometime.
[But his question puts her back to the matter at hand, as her hands go to move over the door]
So you're looking for an emergency generator of some kind. Something that will allow you in, no matter what.
no subject
Exactly. I'd like it to power up the locks as well as a few other systems, just in case the castle doesn't take them away. When the place changes, sometimes these locks change with it and I don't actually have the right key for the room - which is crazy, but having an override that's always powered would be good.

It probably wouldn't hurt it to be portable, or to have some sort of genetic lock so that just anyone can't access it.

I think I can make that happen. You said you have some of the crystals? Because I don't know if I'd be able to make something without them.
no subject
I guess - Eliot Spencer set up a lock-box for them and got a lot of people to store them for emergency. When he left, Cordelia told me to put them to good use. So I am, with your help.

I'll probably have to run some tests on the crystals first, try and determine what they are capable of before designing any sort of device that runs off of them.

[He moves over toward one of the wall cabinets and opens it, pulling out a small box. In the box would be his crystal along with the ones that had belonged to Jo, Bela, and Eliot. If it worked, he'd try to see if he could track down ones from other residents that had left.]
Here are four of them.

I'd only actually heard of these before, I've never been this close.

I'll definitely go back through them, see what I can find. I should probably get started...

This is your access card for the tower here, you're free to use it if you need to for testing or whatever you might need it for.
no subject
Thanks, Oliver. I promise to knock. And to get all this sorted out as quick as I possibly can.

I'll see what I can do. And I'll keep you posted, alright?
