[ Alright, well, so far? This place isn't too shabby. A few friends from home, a few people who know him from his previous two-year stay, and a few mysteries to investigate so he has something to do with his free time...not bad. Not bad at all. The lack of having his nuts clawed at by Erebus helps, too.

For the first week, Minato has been indulging the simpler pleasures of life; fresh food, sleeping in, and spending a day doing nothing but playing videogames and listening to music. Good times all around!

But of course, one can't just laze around forever- social needs are just that. So today, he's on a lobby couch, feet propped up on an ottoman, PSP in his lap. Faint sounds of some sort of hacky-slashy game with all the people from that one popular series filter through his headphones, but it's mostly his voice, dictating into the journal. ]

For all the people who've been here awhile...I was wondering. How do you fill your days? I don't mind having all this time off, but...it's like summer vacation.

[ In that eventually, like Junpei, there's just nothing left to do and you can't wait for school to be back in. He buttons through a menu, pausing before the next fight against Swordguy McLeatherbelts. ]

Must be more to do. Especially with the mystery of the castle.

It's not a big deal. I'm not really in a hurry. Besides, I like spending time with you. [ ... AWKWARD. ] You know, hanging out. I spent a long time before coming here not being able to do it, so I kind of take advantage of the normal when I get it.

and quite frankly it's nice to be friends with a girl without having the possibility that she not-so-secretly wants to ride him like he's every rollercoaster at disneyland put together looming over his head. but that's another matter entirely! ]

I -- No. You can pay for your food and I'll pay for mine, it's not a big deal. [ She shakes her head and walks in to ask the hostess to seat them, following her back to a table. ] There's no "least you can do," I told you, I like hanging out with you.

I'm sure. [ She slides into the seat across from him and takes a menu from the hostess. Flipping through it, she decides to shift the tracks of the conversation a little. ] So, you and Akihiko, were you pretty close back home or did you guys just go to the same school?

Pretty close. We lived in the same dorm for a year...just down the hall.

[ Plus other, extra-curricular activities. He sobers for a second, leaning forward to rest his elbows on the table. ]

Enough for me to know what that means. [ It gets a smile and a look of relief as she sits back in her chair. That's pretty much the answer she was looking to actually get. ] I'm his girlfriend, I mean, if I hadn't seen his persona yet, I'd be a little worried about the whole 'state of our relationship' thing. [ ... boy that sure sounds euphemistic. whatever. ]

[ That gets another chuckle too, inclining his head in a slight smile. Glad it wasn't him who blew the secret! ]

He'd been doing that a year or so before I got mine...just him, Mitsuru, and Shinjiro. I led all of them in battle through the last year. He's a strong fighter- always dependable.

I'm pretty sure you all earned the "strong fighter" title just for doing it. I mean, there aren't a whole lot of kids our age who really know what that kind of thing is like.

Also, he orders a heapin' helpin' of lasagna when the waitress comes back! ]

[ As a matter of fact she hasn't heard about that one. :| But she has seen Akihiko's manual of how to stop sucking at girl interaction in his room while he was ... dead ... lmao. She asks for alfredo and some chocolate milk. Because she's secretly ten. The lack of boobs was your first clue. ]

Good. [ Though she might ... definitely tell him Minato said so because it's just cute okay. ] So, are you guys from the same time and everything?

Sort of. I -- It's complicated. [ She shrugs. ] My uncle's here, but ... [ she starts playing with the corner of her napkin. ] He's my loss. I mean, I don't remember him -- at all. Not a thing. And he's my biological uncle, and I was adopted, so it's just like ... it's even more of a headache.

But, it's okay. I mean, I'm okay with where I'm at. Uncle-less and mostly alone. I mean, my roommate from college was here for a while, and honestly I'm kinda glad she got to go home. She's not really cut out for living the weird and unexplained. [ She shrugs again. ] I sort of feel like I've got a new family that I made here. Is that weird?
