[Outside the castle there's a familiar ship on the ground, one that looks a lot less beat up than it did a few days ago. Apparently Spike was fired and replaced with some magical mechanic. Not like he minded too much; less work for him. And he had to hand it to them, from a distance you couldn't even see anything wrong with it.
It's when Faye pokes her head up in the cockpit window that he decides to get a better look.] Have you flown it yet?
[she barely glances over from where she's tinkering with the console] ...He screwed up all of my settings! I'm pretty sure that there isn't a planet nearby called 'My Bollocks,' here.
[Good thing she's too occupied to catch his smirk. That's what happens.] Who did you say fixed it for you?
[as she sighs and turns around, dangling her legs out the hatch--] Crowley.
. . . [Crowley. He really should have guessed.] I didn't know he worked on spaceships. [Spike leans against the frame and gives a sidelong glance at a certain panel. If he was really curious, he could open it and check just how fixed it really is, but he diverts his eyes before she can tell what he's examining.]
A spaceship is the same as a car, when you wiggle your fingers at it, I guess. [spooky wiggling fingers, for emphasis]
Right. [Magic. On that note, he reaches into his jacket and pulls out a steel flask. Can't even remember what he filled it with -- but it smells strong enough, so he takes a drink.]
[she arches an eyebrow at him] ...Isn't is a little early for that? [not that it keeps her from reaching out and beckoning for it, of course. The one she keeps in the cockpit has been drained by a certain magical mechanic.] You having trouble coping-- [...she doesn't get the whole thought out, however. Her voice cuts off abruptly, hands going to her throat and eyes widening in surprise]
... What is it? [He had barely moved to share it, when the knowing smile on his face vanishes. When she doesn't respond in a few more seconds, he can tell she isn't kidding. She's choking. Quickly, he glancing around them (because you never know if you're alone) and swears under his breath. The flask is thrown to the ground and shakes her shoulder.] Faye? Hey, come on!
[she grabs onto his arm, fingers digging desperately into the cloth of his sleeve, and all she can struggle out is a tiny strangled gasp. She can't breathe. ...She can't breathe!]
[Shit. She's turning blue, this isn't--] Hold on. [What's he going to do, carry her back? They don't have ambulances here, but they aren't too far away. He tries to keep her from falling and fumbles around for the journal in his pocket.]

ooc: Spike | Faye

[Times like these, you hate having to rely on more magical bullshit. The voice over the journal is dictated in a tone that's calmer than it should be, but there's an angry undercurrent that's just waiting to challenge whoever is responsible. Has to be someone.]
If anyone knows CPR, or... anything, I don't care. I need you outside the castle. Someone's dying.
ooc^2: So very open! Journal or in person. Lost Room item related... because it's about time. Some girls have all the luck.

[ with a shrug, he pushes spike aside (with force if necessary) before sinking back down onto his knees and slipping a hand beneath the nape of her neck so his fingers can cradle the back of her head. he sighs and shuts his eyes ]
It would be pathetic to let you die over something like this. Just remember that you owe me.
[ his other hand rests against her collarbone, and quite suddenly a gold light surrounds them both, glimmering wings sprouting from his back as he concentrates ]

--And it doesn't. She's not in as much lung-raking discomfort as she was before... but she still can't breathe.]
IT'S A REPOST
[and sure enough, it's one of the first things he sees when he comes out the front door. He breaks into a quick jog toward it and as he gets closer, he can see--a man he doesn't recognize, probably the one who made the call, and--and Faye, on the ground, and next to her--oh great. Joshua. The only reaction he makes is a vaguely distressed look at Faye as he approaches, dropping his emergency kit on the ground next to her and kneeling next to Joshua--he glances at what the other man is doing, frowning massively--and giving her a quick once-over]
What happened?
[introductions can come later]
And another
While he's asking questions, she'll be lingering in the back, nervous eyes falling on Spike and the unfamiliar faces. The fact that Faye's is a bit more familiar hasn't registered, yet]
JEEZ GUYS WAY TO CONFUSE ME
anyone who does try to touch faye right now is welcome to, but the glowing may hinder visuals, and it will definitely be very warm ]
It should have worked by now... What sort of trouble did you get into this time, Valentine?
lmao /keeps up......!
... I don't know. She wasn't eating anything, she just started choking, like someone was strangling her.
[This is really taking too long!] --Is that supposed to do something?
no subject
...This is not how she wanted to go.]
no subject
A look of panic crosses his face but--deep breath out of habit--he can do this. He pushes aside all his fear and the worry of being around other people ... and Faye can hate him later, when she's still alive TO hate him]
I need--I need you to move away just a little, please--
[this is directed at Joshua, in a form voice that quavers only a little, and once he can he gently takes Faye's face in his hands and tilts it back, then pinches her nose closed and goes for it: he covers her mouth with his and gives two full breaths before sitting back up and starting chest compressions]
((lol so fail))

absently, he looks to spike for only a moment before back down. he's letting rory do his thing, but the glowing is very much continuing. he's starting to look tired, and normally he would never put this much effort into healing a person, but...it not working is like a motherfucking CHALLENGE. at the very least, it's keeping her from having brain damage at the lack of oxygen ]
It should heal any ailment she has. Whoever or whatever is doing this to her must be using magic.
[ frowns more ]
But no magic should be stronger than mine... Unless it's the castle.

He looks at Kaylee, sorry to make her come out there, and lowers his voice.]
You don't have to watch this.

--Faye CAN'T die, she's his sister, the only one he really has left who understands certain things, because even though Tobias is still around they'd never clicked, not even then--
There's a woman standing behind him, not doing anything. He looks up at her to catch her gaze]
Please--in my bag, there's a plastic mask with a sort of bulb thing attached, I need you to get it out for me.
[then he pushes his hair back off his forehead before turning back, about to start another round of CPR]

It's only after she's passed it to him and stepped back that it actually starts to fall into place]
[softly...too soft, probably, to be noticed in all this chaos] You-
[there's nothing to follow the quiet exclamation, because the thought hasn't completely formed. But that dull sort of dread is rising as her gaze darts from Rory to the unconscious Faye... and then to Spike.
This wasn't good. This wasn't good at all... and it had nothing to do with Faye choking.
She's not making a scene. Not calling attention to herself. But she has the definite, deer-in-headlights look of one who's just seen something terrifying]

Hn... You're afraid of the wrong demons.
[ a quick look at rory and whatever the hell he's doing, then down at faye. joshua's actually beginning to look a little worse for wear, veins along his jaw protruding as he tries to focus. even this useless power is still his, and it's an insult for it not to work immediately ]
Look in the mirror before labeling others as monsters.

His eyes catch sunlight flashing on a metal object on the ground, and he reaches down to pick it up. The flask had spilled most of what was in it when he dropped it, but there's a few swallows left. He thinks about finishing it off, but instead just screws the cap back on and stuffs it in his jacket. Could be useful later.]

--Faye?
[he says it quietly, blinking in surprise before his training takes back over and he's leaning back down to put his ear to her chest and mouth to confirm what his eyes are telling him, and taking her wrist to check her pulse. He looks up at the others, surprise still coloring his face]
Faye, it's--Rory. Can you hear me?
[the breathing mask lays forgotten on the ground next to him for the moment]
no subject
[quiet, nervous Chinese slipping out as she tries to work up the nerve to back away] *Ren-ci de Shang-di, qing dai wo zou
*Merciful God, please take me away...
no subject
his vision is beginning to blur, gaze unsteady and he's trembling, veins along his skin more than visible. but damn if he doesn't look SMUG ]
Hmph. I knew it would work.
[ even if that wasn't it, how's he to know? ]
no subject
Spike scowls, so distracted that he doesn't notice what they're doing until he hears Joshua. By the time he turns to see, the light is starting to fade and they're crowded around a breathing Faye.]
... [He stands behind the rest of them, watching. Part of him doesn't want to ask if she's alright, just in case, and the rest of him is too confused to string his thoughts together anyway. He'll never get used to anything being that easy.]
no subject
Wha--... [she can't get out entire words just yet, but being greeted by Joshua and Rory is not the most comforting way to regain consciousness. Somewhere in the hazy mess of her mind, she can't help but wonder if she'd somehow died and gone wherever demons go]
no subject
Stupid woman. You actually made me...
[ and he barely even gets his insulting out, trailing off as the color drains from his face and he keels over, wings slowly disappearing. whups. overexerted himself to the max! this is why he doesn't heal people, mmkai.
you now have a psycho right where many people would want him. do you throw him at the peace patrol? into a ditch? put him in a dress? or take him to the clinic? WHAT DO, GENTLE CITIZENS? ]
no subject
Okay, really--
[but he's a nurse, and that means he treats EVERYONE with the same care and attention, regardless of whatever his personal feelings might be. So, sighing, he looks up at Kaylee and Spike, and says quietly]
Think you can take care of Faye? I think--I think she's going to be just fine. Just needs a bit of rest.
[then he turns back to Joshua, shifting forward on his knees to carefully turn the other man over onto his back. He looks like he'd rather be sticking his hands into a vat of lava, but he does it all the same]
no subject
[swallowing, she shoots a look to Spike that's half nervousness, half apology, before backing towards the castle] I should... I need t'let Zoe know what's goin' on.
[because that makes sense... right?
And, without any better explanation than that, she's going to flee back to the safety of the castle. Sorry Spike. Looks like Faye is all yours]
