[Puddleglum is in the process of awkwardly scrambling out of a tree by the duck pond. Actually, getting down hadn't been so bad. With his long limbs, he could reach pretty well. But his fishing pole had become tangled in the branches and he's muttering under his breath as he attempts to tug it down]

Take a creature from his home... make 'im something he's not... then give a swamp but fill it with all sorts of improper things. Probably have one come up and eat me right now, with me all tangled up like a fool. Wouldn't be a bit surprised. Not one-
