[ gil hasn't been in his room lately, trying to get out more. fresh air and all that jazz. anything to keep him distracted with recent events and the fact elliot really knocked him around verbally earlier.

he pauses outside his door, feeling something is very wrong. slowly, he turns the knob and pushes the door open quietly and immediately spots a figure in the dark of his room-- in his bed? so, he reaches for his gun and points it at whoever or whatever it is-- flicking the light open at once ]

[ sometime later. or before elliot. OH PARADISA TIME. ]

It's safe. Otherwise the majority of the residents would be ill or dead. They don't even prepare their own meals.

[he threw his orange at Vincent, Gil. don't make him cause you to wear hot soup. |: so for now, he'll just stare angrily.

...give him a few moments here.]

I can't exactly prepare anything in the middle of a hall, can I?

I KNOW THAT!

[...that wasn't what he needed. because now he's reaching out to smack the bowl right up at him.]

Hey! [ he takes a step backward but slips instead and that bowl goes flying in midair-- before landing on his own head ] Hot! Hot! Hot!

[that works for him, too, as he's really trying not to laugh. never change, Gil. never change. at least Elliot's kind enough to summon him a towel. for a moment, he thought about simply throwing it at him but, instead, he knelt down beside him (careful to avoid the spilt soup) and put it on the man's head, effectively patting it to try and soak up some of the soup.]

You need to be more careful, Gil.

[ once again caught off guard by elliot. his head sinks a little and he rubs the back of his neck ]

...thanks.

[he could have lectured him about being so careless (despite it being partly his own fault) but he had chose not to. maybe he had done enough lecturing for the time being. lessons never settled in if they were continually harped upon, one after another after another.]

[he was going to say 'socially awkward', 'a bit inept', or something else along those lines but he held it back for the time being.]

[ that warrants a tiny blush appearing on gil's face. perhaps all those he knows from home appearing in paradisa was hinting at him that he was forgetting about the ones he had let down or the ones who had always cared about him. vincent, ada, rufus (but that one was the odd one out), break, echo, stupid rabbit... ]

[what a mess you are, Gil. both literally and figuratively. it's like a trainwreck that's still in progress with no end of boxcars in sight. with a mentality like the one that Gil had, Elliot could see how easy it was to forget such things. it was much in the same way as Oz had felt before Elliot yelled at him about it back in the library at Latowidge.

there was a moment of a soft sigh before Elliot finally just leaned against him and wrapped his arms around the other's shoulders, hugging him close.]

I'll be your support, Gil. But you have to start taking off the blinders and seeing what is beyond that narrow point of view. Little by little, I think you'll finally be able to grow up and be someone to be proud of.

[ the things that happened back home-- and then in paradisa. gil felt uneasy about letting go so easily. he didn't want to let go, because the last time he did oz nearly fell into the hands of a murderer here. he did fall into her hands and it only caused gil to panic. every time he let oz go about he was getting hurt or into trouble. ]

I'm not blind as to what I see. Even Oz... Oz has pointed these things out.

But right now, we can focus on other things. Right? You're here and safe, that's all that matters to me right now. You and Vincent are safe. [ well, he's still pretty vexed over vincent's courting of ada but he wasn't sure it was a good idea to bring it up with elliot just yet. or ever. in fact, he hadn't even mentioned ada was here. ]

Then what do you see right now, Gilbert.

[it was probably the best thing to not mention it unless Gil wanted to follow him while he went to find Vincent to rage at him. but on the other hand, he was also probably likely to rage at Gil for not telling him if he found out somehow another way. it was pretty much damned if you, damned if you don't.]

[ what does he see? he sees elliot; the only adoptive brother who ever showed a genuine interest in him. the only person right now from his world who's paying attention to him. (ada's taken by vincent, sadly she doesn't count for now.) ]

Let's go back so you can rest. I can fill you in on things that have happened here unless Vince has already?

[...that's about what he pretty much expected and why he didn't rage at him for being an idiot. even so, he could still see how the other really did seem to need someone at the current time. even if it might only be temporary.

standing up, he offered his hand out to him.]

[ takes his hand and gets to his feet as well while trying to recall past events ]

Vincent can be awfully vague about things, you know.

[it should be, but Elliot dared him to try and lead him around.]

He didn't tell me that.

[ oh vincent. but then again vincent threw a hissy fit when jack left. ]

He was really here... in the flesh.

[sigh. of course it figured that Vincent never gave completely helpful advice and such. he felt like he had to pry what little he did learn out of the other, anyway.]

Hm. [it made more sense that way, after all.
