[well the sudden amount of arrivals has caught Dextera's attention, who - for the sake of everybody's sanity - didn't get a kid.

so he'll be wandering around again, watching everyone with their children. he can't help but wonder if it was like this before the Blaze happened back home. not that he could remember anyway.

eventually Dextera decides to ask the people here what it's like. grabbing a pen, he writes:]

What's it like looking after children?

[It's Friday morning and Gos is up at the crack of... 10 AM. She's down in the lobby setting up a projector and screen. There's a table nearby with tons of junk food strewn across it and the floor is littered with beanbag chairs and pillows. That's right, ladies and gents, she's setting up another movie marathon.]

I know we don't have TV to rot our brains, here, but that doesn't mean we can't try. So, for all th'kids in the castle, now, I'm gonna show Mutant Zombie Kids From Mars parts 1 through 7! Don't worry, it's kid friendly mostly. It's better'n those weird bunny things, at least.

[And with that, she turns on the first flick and throws herself in the middle of a pile of pillows. Anyone care to join her for some good clean family zombie movies?]

[You may have noticed, if you know Rose, that she's actually been more scarce than normal. She'll only pop into the TARDIS for brief periods or to sleep, and the rest of the time she's out in the castle, on the grounds, or in the town.

Mostly, it's been because she's been dragged all over the castle by the little terror child who found her late the first day she'd thought she'd been free.

It's the sound of a child's voice that first filters through the pages.]

Mum? Can we go back to the horses now?

[The answering voice sounds decidedly exhausted.] Andromeda, we were just there.

But you said after lunch we'd go riding.

I said I'd think about it...and I did. Still no.

But Mum-

No, it's too dangerous. I don't even know what's out there.

It's exciting Mum!

[There's a faint Yeah...but...] You're too young for that sort've fun. You can go when you're older.

[There's pause, and then.] What if Da said we could go?

...What?

[Pink is Andromeda]

not to spam the journal or anything but i have a question
its my understanding that this sort of thing happens every year
the improbable offspring appearing out of nowhere thing that is
and that after a week they disappear as though they had never existed
furthermore some of said offspring are repeat customers so to speak reappearing from year to year
thus my question is twofold

first
what happens to the wigglers after the week is up?
do they cease to exist or get taken someplace else or returned to their homeworlds or what
and do they age in the interim between years
i guess this part is directed at the repeat children themselves
since having experienced it they are the most qualified to tell us what happened to them

second
whats the point of all this
is it just the castle reasserting its dominance over us by creating life where none existed and then throwing away the results like slime in a petri dish?
it would have been better if it created a monster or something
then at least we wouldnt care if it disappeared

this is cruel :(

[Aradia can be found in the game room today, since apparently the yet-unnamed grub is as big a nerd as its father unit. They are playing Brittle Pig Planet, and the grub has taken to it like a fish to digital water, although it has trouble reaching the buttons.

Its mother unit is just watching for now, but not quite happily. Clearly this means you should bother them!!

We should hold some kind of baby pageant. Not your typical big hair big dress Jonbenet Ramsey type pageant. More like, who has the weirdest kid or something, with a special award to the worst parents.

Just a thought for next year, I guess. That way people don't freak out if their kid has some special power or looks fuckin' ugly or, I'unno, starts walking on the ceiling like mine does--

[Dictated slightly away from the journal]

No. How many fucking times, May? You spray that shit at me again and you can forget that ice cream daddy promised you. Jesus Christ.

[Ashura was walking up and down the halls, his small bundle in his arms, wrapped up in an embroidered blanket. He bounced the bundle gentle and cooed, he himself looking somewhere between haggard and like he was debating sitting on the couch in the lobby and passing out himself.

Ryuga had had trouble sleeping lately, which left little room for Ashura or Felix to sleep. Ashura thought taking the babe on a walk might help, and it was.. to an extent. But the moment he stopped moving the baby started crying again. This was the unattractive side of having a child, he supposed.]

Come on Ryuga, please be good...

[He sighed and continued his walking.]

--Ha!

No, no. Put your hand in a fist-- like this.

...Hiyaa!

Come on. You can hit harder than that.

Raa!

Again.

Haa!

[The area immediately surrounding the duck pond has been claimed for the next foreseeable future. Partly because the kids enjoy being outside, and partly because Arthur is trying to stave off the inevitable melancholy at remembering that tomorrow marks a week, and their departure. If the castle still intends to operate in it's preferred way.

He's watching alternately with a small smile on his face, Anita running around the pond with large delighted squeals as Allen chases her, narrowly avoiding water fowl collisions. He's on a picnic blanket covered in baby toys and left over snacks with Lucius who occupies the other half of his attention, playing with rattles, stuffed bears, and train sets that all like with most babies, are tested for with in the form of gumming all over them.
]

Arfur, can I have a duck?

What?!

[This afternoon you might find an odd trio sitting out on a picnic blanket near the duck pond! It's so nice out, after all; might as well take advantage of it! Ino will be digging into the picnic basket and retrieving some delicious sandwiches/soup/etc while Hana stares .. longingly …. at the bottle Leroy is sipping from]

How come you get to have soda?

It's not soda. It's stuff for adults.

[Hana will be pouting a little] I wanna try some!

Not until you're older, Hana.

[ooc: Ino, Leroy, babby. Come bother them |D]

[there's a small enclosure along one side of the lobby, surrounded by a waist-high fence. Colorful toys, along with a couple of rumpled blankets, are swept into a corner, while a girl sits cross-legged against a wall, calmly reading a book on dog training. Her open journal is off to the side.

A toddler and a puppy run up to her with a tennis ball each, and she gives them both a smile and a pat on the head. The tennis balls are then lobbed in opposite directions, and the two are off, scrambling to reach his ball first. She goes back to reading.

And then, without even looking up:]
Thomas, don't use your mouth.

But Mama! Blitz does!

[Happy bark!]

Blitz doesn't have hands.

[[ooc: So open. Over the journal or in person is fine.]]

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
