[Evangeline's always been more of a night person- if that wasn't obvious- so she was up pretty late... She had noticed when Chie had left earlier, but hadn't thought anything of it.

But she takes notice when, later, she heads into their shared room and Chie's still not there... really, where would she have gone for that long? She takes notice of an open journal next to Chie's bed and heads over... glancing at the open page, she's able to put it together.]

[Sheriff's Office;]

Hey. what are you doing about those kidnappers? They just took somebody from the York Farm.

[York Farm;]

[and she heads back out into the main room, carrying Chie's journal with her while dictating into her own, filtering to the farm] Somebody should go and look for Chie. It's late and she's not here.

[almost as an afterthought] She may have been kidnapped, too.

[Gordon's out in the dark with a lantern--God, he wishes he had his HEV right about now--looking for both the girl who was captured and the man who did the capturing. The man is apparently a sheriff's deputy... so that's the most logical place to start looking for him, because he obviously isn't that smart.]

[Gordon's really lucky that his parents decided to send him to summer camp once in a while, because that minimal time learning how to ride a horse is paying off bigtime now. Read: not making his whole body ache. He reaches under his poncho quickly to make sure that his gun is there, safe and sound, and keeps on riding until he finds the girl.]

Breakfast is ready. It's not much, but I made do with what we had.

[for Souji, not much is eggs, ham, and bread with jam, with good-sized servings]

Also.... do you think somebody can cover my share of the chores today? I'll try to be back in time to prepare dinner, but... [pauses for a moment] One of my friends is missing. I promise I'll make up the chores for whoever helps out later.

Maybe I should have tried becoming a plumber instead of Hokage. It would have come in handy right now.

So, uh, nobody's due to have a baby anytime soon, right? Because if you are, you might want to...sort of wait till we get back to the castle. Just, you know, try to hold it in or something.

So! Who's up for making sundresses? I found this yellow print in the back that would be really pretty. Since people only have two or three outfits each, I think it's important that we try to make this place as comfortable as the castle.

That said, I'm making lunch and lemonade this afternoon. Everyone, let's do our best!

Is everyone adjusting okay? I know it's kind of hard at first, but we can make this work if we try. I noticed that there aren't any people from the city— what was it? City Royale?— so we're depending on each other more than ever.

Zack? Cloud? Tifa? Where did you end up?

Good mornin', ladies and gents. This is Reno speakin'.

I hope y'all are gettin' through harvest time just fine this year. But in the order of business, I've heard news of nearby towns gettin' attacked by bandits over the past week. I'd appreciate it if all of you kept an eye out; as long as we're vigilant, it won't be a problem.

And Mr. York, Sheriff Sylar; that girl that went missin'. She turned up yet?

[has been told about the kidnappings, having not really paid attention to that mess back before the world change, and figures he should do something about it. not that he really cares whether or not people end up held hostage or killed--so long as they're not the people he actually gives a damn about--but well. he figures taking action will give him something to do, rather than sitting around grumbling about his lack of powers, here. besides, maybe if he's lucky, he'll get to shoot someone. might even get a free pass for it, too, since it seems like the kidnapper is on a loss--or just a moron--and since he can say, with honesty, that he was just doing his job]

[so, that in mind]

Though you'd be hard pressed to catch her doing any actual work. She may get the occasional beer, drink, what have you, for whoever comes in. Bug away.]

Hey, am I allowed to work with machinery yet, or do I still have to be a maid?  With the right equipment, I can build something that can help the farmers here harvest crops.

[/filter]

So we're all going to be here for a couple days.  Why is there an idiot kidnapping some girl? And why haven't you guys caught him yet? I mean, it shouldn't be that hard. We had to kidnap my cousin once, so she wouldn't get killed.  So if you high-and-mighty people need some help, I can offer some assistance

[Hodgins]

Crazy Jack... You're not the one kidnapping anyone, are you?  And where is this place you're crashin' at? I might bore myself to death if I have to stay here with people I don't know.  We could try looking for more creatures and nickname them~ ♥

[York is standing on the porch of his farmhouse, looking angry. He'd been all set to enjoy this little adventure, and then some idiot had to go and kidnap his friend right out from under his nose. Still, Freeman had gone out looking for her and, much as he would have liked to do the same, someone had to stay and make sure everything was still getting done on the farm. So here he is, making sure everyone's duties are covered and waiting impatiently for any sign of the outlaws or Chie, or to listen to anything his fellow farm-dwellers might have to say to him.

Not having Delta around to help keep a handle on his emotions was beginning to wear on York.

The Bible sure is a lot bloodier than I thought it'd be...

Anyway, I've been hearing talk of people getting married or rather...kidnapping girls to be their brides.

How you get girls is your own business, but keep in mind any marriages have to be performed by a priest I'm pretty sure [gone!] otherwise it's not a marriage.

Everyone clear on that?

Hello, Fairfield. I'm Doctor Owen Harper, your resident physician. As super fun as it is, leaning how to do my profession over a century behind what I'm used to, I'd appreciate it if you didn't bother me unless it's urgent or you really, really want a taste of my bedside manner.

Does anyone else in Fairfield have a medical condition that's made worse by being here? Speak now or die in a gutter somewhere. There aren't any ambulances.

So I'm not sure if I should be worried or amused, but I've done the counts a few times now. What I had when I first woke up here doesn't match up to what I have now.

Three pairs of black leather riding chaps are gone. As are a set of braided reins, and a few boxes of metal fasteners.

I have no idea what they're going to be doing with that, but it is quite interesting to think of.

Also, if you were still wondering I've landed myself in the tack shop here in Fairfield.

This town could at least have a wireless telegraph switchboard. That I could do. It would take some getting used to, but running a switchboard is basically what I do back home.

A servant in the house of the Fire Nation princess. And not working is out of the question. Misfortune seems to follow those that don't put any effort in their chores.

About the Archive

"Paradisa Lost" is the archive of what the journals contained between December 1st, 2006 and January 10th, 2012. On that final day, Paradisa issued new journals, so that the residents could fill them up again. While there are still residents around who have old journals, we have chosen to preserve the old journals here for muns' reference and history.

"Lost" in the title refers to both the old journals that the residents once kept, and also to our move to Dreamwidth from the original Livejournal community, where Paradisa started. It is a fresh start for muns, as well as for the characters.
