a quiet liaison
Who: Yamada with Barney Stinson, Steve Rogers, and Neal Caffrey.
When: Forward-dated to New Year's Eve.
Where: A traditional Japanese restaurant in town.
What: Three separate dates, with three separate men, in three separate rooms, occurring at the same time.
Rating: PG-13 because Yamada's in it.
Yamada had been fretting for a while about her first New Year's Eve in Paradisa. The most romantic night of the year was fast approaching, and she had no one to share it with. So, during the speed dating event, this girl took a careful note of the men most eligible to make her into a woman. That night, she had it narrowed down to three prime candidates:
Barney Stinson, The Charmer: With the power of fairies, this man stole Yamada's first kiss. And boy was it good. Ever since then, she's had her eye on him. So far, she's only seen his sensitive side, and she likes what she sees.
Neal Caffrey, The Chevalier: As sharply-dressed as Barney, with a refined personality to match. Yamada was immediately drawn to Neal for what he had written on his dating card, stating that his favorite comfort food was a glass of Bordeaux. Let's face it: he's a walking rich-boy fantasy.
Steve Rogers, The Cherry: Yamada was most impressed with Steve during the event, because he was the least impressive date she was paired with. He was so awkward the whole time, she became convinced that he had never been on a date before, and therefore was still inexperienced. This, combined with the fact that of these three, Steve is the closest to eye-level with her, makes him a worthy choice.

When Paradisa returned to normal, Yamada went immediately to the classiest Japanese restaurant in town and made New Year's Eve reservations for three rooms, and sent invitations to her threevictims bachelors, each stating the precise time they were to arrive, the intent being for each of them to assume this is a one-on-one date, while tripling her chances of getting to kiss at least one of them at midnight, an essential good-luck ritual to kick off the new year.
