Happy Diwali [open]

Rating: Um, not more than PG? This is a family holiday, guys, come on...

Diwali is living up to it’s name today. The lights are everywhere today both outside and in.  Stands of candles line the lobby like a temple and lanterns hang from the very ceiling. Everywhere there is light.

Today, however, you can add new smells and sounds to the list as well. Music drifts through the air into the lobby, along with the fragrant, spice filled scents of foods and sweets.

He'll smile at her. It didn't hit his hair after all, and it was a beautiful girl. What was there to worry about?

"I'm fine, the thing just missed me. Though it looks like you can't say the same."

"Yeah, I think I let the sparky part get a little too close to my hand," she admits, embarrassed, before pulling her hand down and rubbing at it a little idly. "No real damage done, though. I'll probably pull through."

"It happens," He's seen it occur many a time at noble parties when a bit too much alcohol was around. But he offers his own hand. "Here, lemme see it. No stunning woman such as yourself should have to face being unsure if you'll make it or not."

Is he starting to sound familiar Katara?

She rolls her eyes just a little bit, but gives her hand over anyway. True to what she'd said - she doesn't seem actually burned, though there is a tiny, fading red mark where the spark hit her. Yep; he's starting to sound incredibly familiar.

"Nice to finally meet you in person, Zelos."

He looks at the hand, yeah it looks like it should heal enough just fine without any of his magic skills. Instead when she says his name, he'll look momentarily surprised until he thinks long enough to place her. With a smile, he'll shake her hand lightly as you do with a lady. "Katara! It's a pleasure meeting you in person at long last! I must say your beauty far surpassed what I imagined."

"Am I that recognizable or does my reputation proceed me here too~?"

Katara actually flushes slightly, but it's clear that she knows not to take it to heart as she squeezes his hand in return. "I just recognized your voice," she confesses, "and - yeah, you're kind of recognizable." She flashes him a brief smile as she takes her hand back. "You're kind of unique. No offense."

"None taken! I don't mind knowing that there are few like me out there," being Zelos-unique was different from the sort of unique he hated.

He gives back his hand. "And you'll be pleased to know that your hand should recover without any problem or scarring! You won't even need my help."

"Your help, huh?" There's a smile on her face as she folds her arms across her stomach, considering him genially. "What do you do, carry a tub of burn cream with you?"

"Well no. Not in this outfit anyway." He teased a little before speaking honestly. "But truth is I can use magic. And some healing ability comes with that handy little trick."

"Oh!" Katara actually seems delighted by that. "I used to be able to heal, too. Pretty handy in a pinch, right?"

"Yep! I could say my skills have save the day at least a few times!" Sure, Professor Sage was the much better healer, but that is a minor detail! "Though...what do you mean used to?"

"Oh, um. You're familiar with losses in the castle now, aren't you?" Katara is turning slightly, moving her attention from Zelos to some of the starting fireworks. "It took my healing."

"Oh...I've heard about those, but I haven't discovered mine yet," He didn't know if he should be worried or feel lucky about that, really. "That must be a bummer, losing that."

"I don't know. I think I'd rather lose that than a memory or something. There are a lot of things more important to me than being able to heal."

She glances at the sky.

"But this is pretty. Maybe the castle really is behaving for once."

"I guess when you put it that way you have a point..." Not that Zelos really believed it for himself. There were very few memories he would be bummed to lose.

He leans against the railing, glancing up at the fireworks. It reminded me of the shows that would happen in Altamira. "Yeah, it is impressive. But what do you mean by the castle behaving?"

"Well, it doesn't always just give us food and fireworks." She takes a seat, settling on the grass. "Sometimes it locks us out. Or - changes us for a week or so. It's rarely anything major, but it's really annoying. I went two weeks where I couldn't waterbend, only firebend."

"Oh. I think I heard a little bit about that..." When he bothered to pay attention anyway. Which was only half the time.

"Fire and water bending? What's that?"

"It's kind of similar to the magic that you some of you guys here use."
