Near nodded his head. "Correct. It is rather fantastic," he said, though he knew that Mello did not mean it in that way. Near found it fantastic both in the sense of being supernatural and in the sense of being highly convenient. At least this place was accommodating when it came to giving Near the things he enjoyed having around him. That much was pleasant. Asking the castle for something was even more convenient than sending Rester or Gevanni out after it.

"The point," Near echoed, gazing down at the finger puppets even as he felt Mello's gaze burning into him. He could easily give the other the answers that he wanted. Or he could turn this situation to his advantage. He knew what happened, and Mello did not know. No one here could tell Mello what had happened in their world.

"Mello wants answers a great deal. I do not mind telling you, if you are willing to give me something in return," Near said, absently playing with one of those snowy curls of hair. "Otherwise, I might not feel inclined to tell you," Near said, meeting the other's gaze steadily for a moment.
