Late, but can I come to the party anyway?

[It may be early on a Monday morning, but there are a surprising number of people out. Including a blonde woman currently standing quietly on a street corner, examining her surroundings with careful (but somewhat curious) eyes.

... One so caught up in those observations that the child headed straight in her direction completely escapes her notice.]
