[ Anyone near the kitchen might notice Duke in there. At first he's just walking about, a little awkwardly, perhaps, taking turns and just mentally mapping where everything is. He pauses occasionally, hearing the sound of one of those magic fairies, but since he can't figure out what it is, it's ignored.

After that he's going to start cooking, and if knives near fingers make you nervous, don't watch him. Although he's doing fairly well at not nicking his fingers as he starts working on making something involving eggs.

Not doing so well at keeping his fingers free of egg, so there might be a tiny bit of that dripped on the page before the sounds of stirring and him finding things comes through the journal. ]

... If it was not this warm inside the castle.. what would you have done to keep yourself warm? [ He probably would have just become a mass of blankets and tried to sleep through winter, because there's no desert for him to wander off to, but shush. Chop chop chop - silence. ]

[Cole shimmers into the kitchen as he's been listening to Duke's talk over the journal. He would have just replied, but he was thirsty, and there was OJ in the fridge.]

Normally, I would just wear a lot of warm clothes.

[Duke would notice the huge spike of evil presence at the shimmering, before it settles down to the background, as Cole likes it.]

[Felix will wander in on his own for his usual cup of tea. His expressions turns into a frown as he catches sight of Duke cooking. Really, watching a blind man use a knife is like watching a car wreck about to happen...assuming he knew what that was. He can't help but be fascinated by the fact that Duke is pulling it off at all]

I cannot fathom how you have all your fingers at this point.

... And when that does not give enough aid? [ He stops what he was doing when he felt that spike, then carefully resumes - even if he has his head tilted toward Cole and listening. ]

Either don't go out, or put up with it.

[Cole grabs the orange juice and moves to get a glass, pouring himself some before walking over to Duke]

What're you doing? Besides making blood omelette, that is.

.... Usually notice when I start to cut myself. [ And he isn't really cutting that fast. Not that his fingers are entirely intact, which is proven when he sort of twitches because he did cut himself. Don't mind him putting the cut finger in his mouth... even if he had just been cooking with it. It's his food. ]

Hmn. [ Probably works for someone who has a place to 'don't go out' in. ]

... I am not injuring myself that often. [ Lies. He's just not bleeding that much when he does. ]

Uh huh.

[It's at this point that a little golden speck zooms around Cole's head a few times. He swats at it, causing some dust to fall over him.

It's at this point where he grabs Duke and turns him to kiss him full on the lips]

[Terezi's sitting on top of a refrigerator, kicking her legs lightly as she bites into an apple.

Whatever this guy's making smells DELICIOUS, but not as delectable as his blood. She hops off the fridge and lands neatly before him.]

That smells so good, hehe...

I guess I'd wear a coat...that usually helps.

[ Can he flail away now? Only he was turned away from where he was working on food so trying to get away means backing into the counter and that just.. kinda traps him. Confused.

Except some of that dust gets on him and ... he's still really confused but less frantic about it. ]

Usually wear one - perhaps two would aid...

[ The crunching slightly gets Duke's attention, but the jumping and landing nearby - really nearby - has him stopping. ... His food smells good? It's just egg and onion at the moment... ]

... Do you wish for one?

Are you trying to go outside? Is that why you need that many?

[He doesn't MIND precisely, but it's probably good that Duke can't tell he's staring]

I feel like I know the answer, but I have to ask...why attempt to do this yourself when you can simply ask the ghosts?

No. Curious as to how others avoided the cold - normally I would take residence in a desert for this season.

[ Give Duke a moment to answer - one he spends with the knife against the cutting surface and pushing the uncut vegetables right up against the edge. ]

[He figured that's what the answer would be. It's why he's in here so often himself, but it helps to know how others feel]

[Terezi licks her lips and gets even closer to him.]

Cherry blood? Hmm! I never thought to ask the castle, but thanks for the suggestion! Hahahaha!!

[She takes his hand all of a sudden and sniffs at the bleeding finger. She knows not to actually lick blood, after all. >:p]

Oh...where do you live the rest of the time?

.... [ Duke seems to think on that. It's still not doing it himself. But his hand stings.

So Duke puts the knife carefully down, and inches the cutting board carefully Felix's way. He turns to take carefully measured steps directly to the sink to try to clean his hands. ]

[ Staying really still someone is moving closer- ]

... cherry blood- [ ... what? His fingers twitch toward curling back - but he really has no idea what is going on. ]

... I am not using cherries.. [ Is that breath he feels on his hand? ... this is awkward. ]
