[ Anyone near the kitchen might notice Duke in there. At first he's just walking about, a little awkwardly, perhaps, taking turns and just mentally mapping where everything is. He pauses occasionally, hearing the sound of one of those magic fairies, but since he can't figure out what it is, it's ignored.

After that he's going to start cooking, and if knives near fingers make you nervous, don't watch him. Although he's doing fairly well at not nicking his fingers as he starts working on making something involving eggs.

Not doing so well at keeping his fingers free of egg, so there might be a tiny bit of that dripped on the page before the sounds of stirring and him finding things comes through the journal. ]

... If it was not this warm inside the castle.. what would you have done to keep yourself warm? [ He probably would have just become a mass of blankets and tried to sleep through winter, because there's no desert for him to wander off to, but shush. Chop chop chop - silence. ]

.... None. [ Just going to shake his fingers out a little more. Is it a good thing or a bad thing he's only using one hand for all of this testing heat and getting close to knife stuff. ]

[ Huh, the tinkling noises stopped. Not that Duke really noticed, because there's a hand holding onto his and a sudden decision says he likes that. So there isn't more than a brief twitch at the unexpected contact, and no reaction to the dust that just started sticking to his hair.

.. That feels much better. And he can still use that hand! So Duke turns slightly to more or less face Felix, and there's a flicker of a not-often used smile. ]

Thank you. [ Part of him thinks more cooking should get done, and part of him things that he should do something with Felix, so as a compromise, that hand stays with Felix's. ]

Before arriving here. I doubt that you are what is known as a 'vampire', but that is what I have encountered as 'once human'.
