[Whereas most people might be sensible enough to avoid the new floating addition to the castle, even if they didn't know what it did yet, one of those people was not Suoh Tamaki.

Oh no.

Instead, Tamaki has decided that these fireflies (because that's what he thinks they are) will look wonderful scattered around the ballroom for the next club meeting.

...So he is deliberately trying to catch them. Good job, Host King.

He's running around the lobby, grin on his face and small net in his hand as he stalked his prey like a very attractively dressed lion.]

Those aren't fireflies, senpai. I've seen them flying around -- you probably shouldn't try to put them in jars like that.

[Really, senpai. Haruhi doesn't want to have to deal with consoling you after you wake up to ten dead Christmas fairies in your room.]

[Not... fireflies?

He scrambles off the sofa and to the jar where he's already caught one, peering in at the small humanoid figure.]

F-F-FAIRY!

[Haruhi calmly reaches over, plucking the jar from Tamaki and starting to unscrew the lid of it.]

How did you really not notice?

[The fairy flutters out of the jar, and Tamaki...

Is left staring at Haruhi. She's bathed in a soft golden light from the winter sun streaming in through one of the lobby windows, and it makes her brown eyes seem huge.

His heart is beating oddly hard in his chest as a flush comes to his cheeks. She is... so cute, no.

No.

So much more than cute, she is truly and absolutely beautiful. A word he threw around so easily, and yet looking at her.]

Haru...hi...

[He takes a step closer, as the fairy flies around her head as well.]

[And when the fairy circles her head, Haruhi feels her breath come short. She watches Tamaki, swallowing the lump that's appeared suddenly in her throat, and she steps closer to him, lifting one hand to press hesitantly against his cheek.

She had missed him so much while he'd been gone -- and as much as he irritated her sometimes, wasn't she just immeasurably glad to have him back?

Haruhi smiles shyly at him, licking her lips nervously.]

[The touch of her fingers against his cheek sends tingles right through her spine, ones he just can't ignore any longer.

He loves her. He loves her, and it was time to stop pretending.

Ducking his head, he tilted her chin upwards ever so gently and pressed his lips to hers.]

[This was what she had wanted. This, and Haruhi gently grasps Tamaki's wrist with her other hand, holding on as if she were afraid that he were going to push her off.

This was perfect.

This was right.

.. this was not right. No, in fact, this was very, very much wrong, and Haruhi goes from flushed and content to bewildered in a split second, releasing Tamaki entirely and backpedaling hard. One hand flies to her mouth, fingers touching her lips, as if they can tell if her if that really just happened.]

Those fairies!

[When Haruhi breaks away and Tamaki hears her frustrated shout, he knows what has happened. The same thing that happened with Bossono-- NO, HE CAN'T EVEN THINK IT, HE WILL DIE!

Except... His heart is still pounding in that flighty way that he can hear hammering in his ears, and his hands are trembling by his sides as she pushes him away and backpedals.

Why..?

Why was he feeling this way when the fairy magic had faded? Why did he still feel as if he lov--]

[And Haruhi is - embarrassed. A little humiliated, if she wants to be honest with herself -- but, no, she really doesn't want to be honest with herself right now.

She backs up, eyes wide, before issuing a sharp bow to him.]

I'm very sorry about that, senpai. I have some errands I need to run. Good luck with your fireflies!
