[Conan had opened the journal and left it lying on the table as he worked on checking the operation of his sedative dart watch.  With no Professor Agasa here to supply replacements it would be bad if any of the parts jammed.  So today he was checking the operation and attempting to load a new dart into the launcher.  At the sound of something happening on the journal he glances up sharply and moves one finger a little too much.

The device triggers.

Conan only has time to let out a surprised cry as the dart hits him.  He fights against the drug for a few seconds before slumping into a deep sleep.]
