1st category - human. [ accidental dictated and action ]
[ The journal opens at the same time that someone sounds like they jumped the last four steps of the stairs. The exhale after it sounds like who ever it was didn't realize it was the last four steps rather than the last two.
But to anyone watching, it should be clear that Duke hadn't jumped stairs. In fact, he'd dropped from... no where, and landed wobbly. He straightens, and turns slightly to look about. ]
... Dark... Did the lights ... no, even without Brave Vesperia... The spirits would... The garden is too dark... [ He takes a step, and nearly stumbles. Startled, and a weakly amused noise. ]
... Injuries more severe than thought... Definitely ...strong... [ He's just going to stand there, slightly slouched because fighting a group of four heroes thrice in a row, despite magical boost and healing in between... isn't exactly easy on the body. There are scraps of fletching in his hair, his coat is cut and torn, singed, soaked and frosted, and the beginnings of bruises are showing on his pale face. ]
[ooc: Duke is in the lobby, and despite all his talk of night, it most definitely isn't. He won't be able to answer anything written, but if you want your characters to figure this out, I'm okay with replying "sorry, he hasn't noticed" if you want to have to swap to dictated! just... note. Or something. Have fun~]

Re: [Action]
[He points, but it's a big lobby, and they're a bit far. After a bit, he waves his hand in front of the guy's face. He doesn't seem to be able to see.]
[Action]
... You can see better in this dark than I.
Re: [Action]
I think you've been blind-sided, my friend.
[He places a supportive hand on the man's elbow, allowing him to lean for support if he needs to.]
First of all, let's get you seated.
[Action]
If he tries to steer Duke right now, he's dazed enough to simply be guided. ]
Re: [Action]
I think you've lost your vision.
[He guides Duke to the chairs, thick and cushioned.]
[Action]
... It ...makes sense but he really doesn't want to think on that. He's feeling off balance enough to think hard on his inability to see-
Blindsided. Literally. ]
... This..? [ A slight twitch of his hand to indicate.. well, pretty much his entire torso. But likely the bruising on his face. Not the slightly stunned look. ]
...More or less.
Re: [Action]
How'd you end up like this?
no subject
A clash of ideals. Mine did not prove stronger.

[That was the most elaborate way he'd heard anyone say they'd been in a fight since... well since he'd talked to Spike.]

I know there's a clinic around here, but I haven't been there yet. Maybe I could help you look for it.

You got one of these journals when you got here, right? Reading it might not do you any good, but you can use them to communicate with the people here.

Do all gain such things? [ But if Jet looks back toward where he first saw Duke, it's open and on the ground back there. ]
no subject
Yep, everyone gets one.
[He looks back, spotting the journal on the ground.]
Looks like you dropped it over there.
[Quickly, he goes to retrieve it for him.]
no subject
... Odd.
no subject
Careful not to lose this one.
[He places the book in the other man's hand.]

Why don't we get you to that clinic?
no subject
... what direction?
no subject
This way.
[He points Duke in the right direction.]
