Sign languages were developed on Earth, at least the ones I've studied. Between those I'm personally familiar with the British Sign Language, and I've been picking up American Sign Language. It's a way of speaking with hands and gestures, spelling things out too. Not as complex in ways as most spoken languages I'm familiar with, if it can communicate most the general concepts of spoken language.

What about illustrations? I was thinking more along those lines, though I don't know if architectural drawings will make all that much sense to you. Have you worked with or looked at blueprints before?
