[You know what's awesome? Seeing all this new technology that had been lost long ago, at least, in your world. Like washing machines. These make getting bloodstains out of clothes so much easier. You know what's not awesome?
Getting stuck in one of them.
Fortunately (or unfortunately), the journal is open, on top of it. So it can record his flailing. Well, as much as a book can, at least.]

[And that's all the journal catches as he's cut off as the washing machine starts, with nothing but the occasional yelps, water sloshing in the background, and the racket he's making by trying to get out.
People who happen to be in the laundry room at the time will find and hear someone (or something) angrily shouting in a washing machine.]
